Yeah it was a generalisation but still there's a lot of truth in it, people brag to feel better about themselves, no other reason.

As far as bragging goes, yeah, that's usually a dead giveaway. I agree.

It's possible for people to create a false impression of being aloof, haughty or whatever though (often unintentionally, sometimes not), when it really just isn't the case. Same as many of the most 'humble' types turn out to be the real egomaniacs.
