Ladies! Need make-up recommendations that can withstand Methadone related sweating!

As anyone on long term Methadone maintenence could tell you, a very inconvenient, uncomfortable side effect many of us experience is intense sweating. This summer is particularly fucking hot, and I'm having a hard time finding a foundation that can withstand the downpour of sweat from my face without looking gross after 10 minutes and smearing or dripping off. I'm looking for recommendations of any brands and/or types of foundation other ladies (and make-up wearing men) have found to be mostly or entirely sweat proof (if there is such a thing as sweat proof foundation).

I've tried mineral foundations (probably the worst), BB & CC creams (work okay but not enough coverage; I wasn't blessed with flawless skin unfortunately, though it's not terrible either), photo finish foundations, aqua and moisturizing foundations (I also have dry skin), and everything in between!
Any help, suggestions, and insight is greatly appreciated~

I apologize if this isn't in the propery forum category. "The Dark Side" of recovery relating to everyday issues seemed appropriate!

Let's leave it open here in TDS and see how it goes--seems like a valid placement. I can't offer any suggestions because I don't wear face make-up but I'm sure there are other women here that do so hopefully you will get some responses. If not we could try Second Opinion.

Clinique makes a good foundation and you can buy it at major department stores. One trick I learned that worked more than anything (the mineral makeup powder was not helpful to me either) is buying some blotting papers. I got good use from them living in the Florida heat. I used to buy them at beauty supply places and when my face got to feeling sticky, you blot with the paper and it soaks up the excess wetness/oil. Worked great for me, wish you luck!

Ok, My .02 I am 50 and what helps alittle for med sweats for me is DiviGel. It's hormone replacement therapy, again it helps, but doesn't releave all sweats. I sweat a lot and really hate it. If I forget to use it, the sweating is worse. When I use it at night, it helps cut down the day time sweats. I have to take it. Total removal of female reproduction, Aka hysterectomy. I got tattooed eyeliner and full lips, was tired of looking sick and tired. So it looks good and no running eyeliner. That was a 50th birthday present from my mother, who always tells me to wear lipstick.... Yuck when you take a big bite of a sandwich and have a lipstick chin! And I also during the day. Blot, and use Clinique Moisture Surge under make up. My skin is dry and it needs non oil feeling.

Good Luck. If you find out anything that helps let me know!
Thank you for sharing.

have you tried a primer too? I found if I use a primer (I use the cheap Rimmel brand- works great) it helps. So maybe try a primer, liquid foundation and powder?

usually I just use primer and powder because liquid foundation makes my skin go crazy.

Haha! I was never a fan of lipstick either. Lip balm for me, though I do love the "Whisper" color balm-lipstick hybrids. Makes my lips look so sexy and kissable.

Thank you for your other suggestions, too. You and the others mentioned blotter paper; I just use a paper towel that I carry around with me, but all the foundation comes off with it. Do blotters made for that purpose leave your make-up on better? I suspect I may have to find a foundation that stays put before I invest in blotter papers, but it's a suggestion I'll definitely remember.

I have tried primers... I have dry skin too, so they're a must, and they do help but not enough. A good liquid foundation is what I'm after ^^ Victoria's Secret also makes a spray-on Primer & Stay-put concoction that helps, but in the end I think I need a really good, sweat proof foundation, liquid like you said! I usually just go out with light powder too, but would love the option of the more coverage foundation gives without, you know, melting off my face xD

Thank you for your suggestions so far; I saw Clinique mentioned too, another brand I'll take note of and try!

J a thought. Will research deodorants

I don't wear foundation. I find that it builds up under my creases/wrinkles under my eyes and I usually end up blotting it off during the day. I am sorry you feel you have to wear it. And I know how it feels when it drips off. I think I am going to try something on my face to see if it helps.... Ready..... Underarm deodorant, a light layer maybe? Dove? or Secret? I use it under my ta-ta's when it's to hot and sweaty. I just hate the heat! But not today, maybe I will research it and see if others have tried it for that same purpose??

Good luck sweetie. I feel ya.

OP you can try the following products:

Boscia Lavender Blotting Linens
Smashbox Photo Finish light
Makeup Forever Duo mat.

I am currently using bare minerals but I think you have already mentioned that it doesnt work for you, but I have always used the Smashbox brand second to Bare Minerals in Sephora lol (I love Sephora). Let us know which ones work for you goodluck on finding the right one!

That's so funny, I use deodorant under my breasts too, and while applying have often wondered if it would work on my face xD I am acne prone, however, and it seems like one hell of a pore clogger! If you try it and it works, let us know, would be greatly appreciated!

I have not tried Bare Minerals specifically, just other mineral powder makeups. Loved them before methadone. You use Bare Minerals and it doesn't melt off and/or cake up (since its powder) when you sweat? If so maybe I will give mineral foundations another try in the form of Bare Minerals! Also noted your other suggestions, thank you! <3

I picked up an inexpensive matte foundation (the whipped mousse kind), and it does seem to work better than anything else I've tried so far, though still not perfect. Haven't had a chance to get to Sephora or Ulta yet, but I'll update how the other brands mentioned work, too!

I love it! it's not cakey and I noticed that even if I sweat it's still intact to a certain degree of course. Before I used this I also used Clinique before for foundation but since I have a very sensitive skin I always get irritation so I switched to Bare minerals.
