We bought a new apartment. Pretty much everything we wanted but it doesn't have a view of the river. The flip side bonus though is it has a large balcony so I can still grow flowers and my mates can have a cigarette without having to go downstairs.

We'll need to gut the kitchen in the next 6 months but only because it is a horrible colour. Sleek white on white with exposed bricks to frame our artwork

Added bonus is it falls in the G20 demilitary zone so we get locked down and a free holiday when Putin, Obama and Wang comes to town in Oct.

That's ace news. I'm really happy for you. Hope you have some great times there. I think there's always work that needs doing in a new place - but I guess it's also fun too, because you're making it truly yours. My brother and sis-in-law made a lot of renovations to their new places about 7 years ago and still haven't really finished but I think they like working to make it truly theirs.

I am so looking forward to getting my own place, I love looking at home-y stuff and planning how I want my room to look. I did think about being an interior designer or something at one point but I am truly shite at drawing/art in general so probably not best suited to that kind of thing. Also, I'd probably end up just making everything pink and flowery so not to everyone's taste ;)

Well pink is ACE! LOL.... My whole house, apart from the kitchen is pink... come to think of it the kitchen has a pinky tone... 'tis all pink, pink, pink!!!!

My wife is an interior designer by trade and I am colour blind. Pretty much a perfect combination for arguments over what rug we buy for the living room ;)
 
Sounds good to me Evey. I'm slowly collecting pink stuff even though I only have one room that strictly belongs to me. Lots of it is living at my mothers until I have my own full house haha.

You're literally colour blind OTW? Or just shit at decorating? Interesting if you are colour blind, you imagine it would be so strange but I guess it's not if you've never known anything different.

I'd like to be an interior designer because I'm good at matching things and like, making places look nice (used to get loads of compliments just on my room at uni in halls) but I wouldn't be able to put the ideas down on paper so that sucks.

If my husband dared have an opinion on the décor he would be quickly silenced. Home decorating, along with cooking and naming children (I'm pushing them out of my vagina, I get to name them) are strictly my domain. The husband can have one room and be happy with that ;)
 
Finally defrosted me freezer flap that's been more or less a solid lump of ice for months. Not so snooey? The fact I only manages to ruin one item by having a pint or so of meltwater drown it is where that comes in. Technically half an item cos I ate the other half for lunch. Was paella. And I'd already had all the prawns and chorizo earlier so barely counts as quarter of an item really.
 
Your such a ball breaker summer ;).. On the other hand a life with no cooking and decorating sounds pretty sweet!
 
Maybe that's why I'm single 8)

No cooking certainly, I don't let anyone else in my kitchen while I'm at work. However, he would still do the decorating - to my instructions. I'm only short, I'm not built for serious DIY.

I am seriously colour blind but I am also the one with the crazy ideas. Snooty interior designers don't end up with this on their ceiling…

I like crazy things. Bright colours, cool patterns, all that fun stuff. Even with what I wear, I end up looking pretty different to other people my age a lot of the time because most high street fashion is just boring. Thinking about it, I probably dress like a druggy because some items in my wardrobe are odd enough that you'd have to be on drugs or naturally very unconcerned about people's opinions to wear them.

But that's a whole other discussion. I like the clouds. Sky should be blue though tbh. My kids are going to have such cool rooms. I hope I have girls though, being girly myself.
 
I wasn't going to paint an entire brown room just for the sake of realism. Far easier to use what I ahd and mix grades of cream and brown.

We had another Japanese style mural which we painted over when we sold that place. The garden had all sorts of triply shit by the time we finished….
