Automatic VS Manual

I prefer to choose what gear I am in, gearing down opposed to braking makes driving in snow and ice much easier, you can save in gas if you drive and gear conservatively, it is a hell of alot more interactive forcing you to be engaged with driving, it makes four wheeling a lot more fun/easier imo,etc
Nothing is more annoying to me than these new cars that have like 8 gear auto transmissions. There is literally no point that you arnt changing gears and often times it is the wrong one.

4 wheel motor vehicles, auto
2 wheel vehicles, manual. Itd be volatile & dangerous as shit imo to drive an automatic motorcycle, considering the rapid acceleration to wrist flexion correspondence... which is why scooters are less preferable to me.

I can only drive automatic. It's so much easier, to be honest. My boyfriend just got a car that is manual. He only drives manual though. I've gotta learn sometime so I can drive our car lol. I tried learning years ago, since my dad drove manual too, but that didn't work.

A decent 4wd has traction control and diff lock so automatic all the way. Driving snow might be the only time I'd consider it but even then computers are still far more reactive than a hillbilly crunching a gear stick.

Having said that you shouldn't be allowed a licence if you can't drive a manual

manual for me, always so bored when i have to drive an automatic

I get bored driving full stop. I'd let google rape all my private information if they would hurry the fuck up with their self drive cars

I would even go as far as to say that all cars should be manual by law. Why? Because texting while driving has overtaken drunk driving as the leading cause of fatal collisions in the U.S. Driving manual forces you to use both hands and both feet constantly, which improves focus on the road normally and also makes it incredibly difficult to even attempt something as reckless as texting while driving.

Actually very few stock 4x4s in america come with a locking differential. A few toyotas have it standard and you can add it for extra to a few american trucks. When I am 4x4ing I find there are many times when I need to ride a gear out or drop it to get out of a sticky situation; with an auto that is not possible. The computer automated traction control is garbage for wheeling. IE new landrovers

Exactly, if I ever have kids they will be driving manuals for sure.

Good reasoning although its still possible to text and drive with a manual. The greatest deterring factor would be a motorcycle. If the majority of the population drove motorbikes, there would be a lot less auto accidents imo. ?

Automatic for me, never tried a standard. I'd be too paranoid that I'm going to crash the car while having to think about which gear I should be shifting into. A car is for getting from point A to B, I don't care about having fun in it, though I've heard manual is good for certain conditions, oh well.

Dont know which gear to shift?-just hold the clutch, and use the brakes & use evasive maneuvers. Then shift that bad boy down a notch. Avoid the obstacle, hit the accelerator, and kick up like a beast. ? Crashing isnt the fault of gear shifting, colliding with another car is. ??

Driving manual becomes second nature at some point. If anything, you have more control of the vehicle.

I've had both. Realistically, I prefer auto because most driving these days is about getting from A to B and contending with traffic. Auto is easier for that. However, if you've got a fast car and open country roads, manual is better if you want to have a little blast. Racing about in an auto can be a bit frustrating at times because the gearbox is never smarter or faster than a good driver.

Manual all the way, granted I mainly ride a motorcycle so that isn't much of a choice in my opinion. Who wants to drive a automatic motorcycle? they corner like a bunch of bricks with wheels on them as you dont have a choice of engine braking.
