Gibberings CLXXII - I Have Zero Imagination

Good morrow EADD,

Up bright & too early this morning... mind was just going at 5:50 when I woke up & figured there wasn't any point staying in bed after lying awake for 30 minutes.

I wouldn't really class mushies as 'hard drugs' apart from the fact you can get a bad trip... they were very nearly the first proper drug I took after cannabis. I still need to check them off my list.

Morning all!

Bit of a weird day yesterday, spent most of the day checking Twitter and stuff for updates on the downed Malaysia Airlines plane. Several people I know were travelling to Malaysia this week, luckily most of them had flown 2-3 days earlier as I found out. A co-worker of a close friend is still missing though, he says she was supposed to fly yesterday and there are only 2 daily flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur :(

A 'marijuana trip'? Have you been possessed by the demon spirit of a teenage middle-American? :D

As above, I wouldn't class mushies as 'hard' psychedelics per se, though at higher doses they can really rip the top of your head off in a way that (in my experience) leaves LSD in the shade.

In fact, my first drug-induced 'religious' experience was on mushrooms, and it left a lasting imprint that would shape the rest of my life in many ways. Possibly the first time I really felt like I was in the presence of God, although that could've been influenced by the fact I was reading the Bible daily and heavily dabbling in Christianity at the time. Whatever that presence was, it certainly felt like it was something external to myself, and yet it knew everything about me too. The best bit was when it bathed me in what might be described as pure and unconditional 'love', if you must. It even made me be nice to my girlfriend for while.

I would try them if I were you, but for the best results, try to create a ritualistic context - say a prayer, read some psalms, bless some wine, whatever - it really helps if you're looking for that kind of trip. Maybe I'm coming over too Roman Catholic for your tastes, I dunno.

I'm not recommending ritualistic trips for everybody btw - have your fun however you wish, and enjoy the swirly colours. Knock yerself out.

That's terrible Septonn... I'm glad to hear the people you know directly are safe but it doesn't make it any less worse for those that were lost. Let's hope the missing friend wasn't on that flight. :\

I'm sure there'll be a lot coming out about this flight MH17. Unfortunatly it's going to turn into a big whodunit shouting contest between Ukraine & Russia. Rather takes away from the human tragedy.
 
It's important not to forget the human cost of this incident, sure. No question about that.

The political implications and the possible repercussions, however, make it pretty unsurprising that there's a 'whodunnit shouting contest'. I see the pro-Russian faction has supposedly granted full acess to the crash site for international investigators, so the intrigue keeps on growing. Apparently the rebels seized a Buk, but then the Prosecutor General of Ukraine denies this.

Passing the Buk? Sorry.

Would you put it past Putin? Would you put it past the US? Would you put it past a major cock-up from the Ukrainian government?

At least it's drawn international attention back to the crisis, anyhow. Meanwhile, in Gaza...
 
do airline companys often get flight paths over volatile war zone areas and whatnot? Seems a bit retarded

There are some airspace restrictions in eastern Ukraine at this moment in time, but nobody seems sure (yet - they will be soon, I guess) whether this plane was travelling in restricted space. It's doubtful, but it's another possibility I guess. Though you'd expect the Ukrainian government to hold its hands up in that case.
 
I don't see any reason for Russia to shoot the plane down, that region is worthless to them and I don't think they have any interest in it. If they did the green men would have turned up a long time ago just like they did in Crimea.

The pro-russian separatists have downed Ukrainian military planes before so they have the capability. I wouldn't put it past them.

Planes have been avoiding Ukrainian airspace for a while now IIRC. Makes you wonder what it was doing there in the first place. The 2nd malaysia air flight to be off course in a short period of time?
 
According to an interview i watched earlier it was on the correct path, and its a commonly used path by different companys or something
 
As mentioned above, it's not yet known whether the plane was flying in a restricted zone - the IATA stated that "Based on the information currently available it is believed that the airspace that the aircraft was traversing was not subject to restrictions."

And yeah, the pro-Russian rebels have been bragging about seizing Buks for some time. It's highly probable that they were more than capable. Presuming they have close contact with Moscow, however, why would they do something like this?

Yep. Though the whole of Ukraine is totally off-limits to every commercial airline now, obviously. Or at least the eastern part.

It really does make you wonder. I think Malaysia Airlines is fucked... their share price has dropped 18% & they have been operating at a loss for years I think.
 
Some reports saying it was at 33,000 feet. Airspace was closed to commercial jets below 32,000. The boeing 777 has a maximum service ceiling of 43,000 feet. If true, why was it flying so close to the 32,000 restriction?

awwww that was really insightful for someone like you. It is sooo true what you said about the prayer thing and this is something I have used to effect in the past.


I think what you have to consider, is if you have an enemy guiding the trip... how are they going to treat you? Will it be a terrible trip? filled with pain and fear?

Of course not. You'd learn to stop using the drug. They're more insidious.


By giving you peaceful messages, in this case advising you to be nice to your girlfriend and bathing you with "unconditional love"... will more likely make you use more drugs and turn to them more often; this then gives your enemy great scope to hurt you.

Look at yourself now, Sammy. You're mentally ill, taking heroin, unliked by Ceres, having trouble getting erections and being sent satanic ritual books by your internet friends (Which reminds me, how was the book in relation to the satanic bible? and does it go in depth about goat sacrifices?)

Were all they drugs really worth it? Did they get you where you want to be in life? I fucking doubt it...

Because that is one of the standard cruising altitudes. In the end of the day, they were above the restricted altitude.

That's definitely an odd one. Possibility of a hijacking which we're yet to learn of?

Obviously we'll have to wait to find out, but it just makes this even more of a mess.
