It's a good movie - they should have called it 13 years a slave? to keep you guessing :D

13 years a slave must be the uncut version.

I really did not enjoy that movie, hard to explain why without spoiling it.

You could always use some NSFW tags... I'm sure I could guess why though. It's by no means perfect but I don't think it has to be.

13years a slave was ok and interesting but kind of long... still a good exaample of that particular genre

I watched half of No Pain No Gain, or Pain & Gain last night. I'm not sure what it's called, it's got The Rock & Marky Mark in it and it is fucking dreadful.

Yeah it looked shit from the trailers - we watched that 'Ride Along' the other night, thats another pile of shit. Those two that I mentioned above are worth a watch one horror / one scifi. The last good one I saw at the cinema was Maleficent :D

Finished 12 years a slave yesterday... bloody hell what a film. certainly didnt sugar coat any brutality, brilliant acting. tempted to read the book. makes me wonder how hard it must be to act that stuff, having n***er screamed at you even if its "just acting" must be hard to endure, and vice versa of having to scream that at people, etc

Watched requiem for a dream again the other day, sure most people have seen it but I'd always recommend it if you haven't. Great film, depressing as fuck though.

^ Meh, looks ok.....ish.....

bet it's not as good as THIS film.

I bought the film after looking at this clip. I thought, if those 3 minutes were so cool what could the rest of the film be like?

answer: yeah it was pretty awesome. Not the most amazing film ever, but pretty cool if u like that sorta thing

Watched some films of late. Most noteworthy was Spring Breakers. Bit late on that but fuck that's a good film. Korine brings Harmony just a bit better than even usual <3

DThe Fountain - few years old, huge ackman and rachel weisz - pretty good sci-fi (bit cloud atlasy)

One of his more interesting films. Not depressing as such. Good though.

Caught up on some more david lynch: Lost highway and Inland Empire.

Lost highway was almost conventional, with a plot and characters (of a sort) - though still all 'existential', fucked up and leaving questions running around the head afterwards.

Inland Empire - what a film to watch on drugs! Such cool use of different camera technologies for emotional effect. Brilliant subversion of reality. Amazing film (lots probably hate it).

Those three films (with mullholland drive) almost counteract the hollywood bollocks film industry by themselves. I'd so much rather have films that leave you bewildered and confused with unanswered questions at the end than a safe three act predictable shite film.

(any reccomends of similar films would be welcome :))

...

Also watched Occulus - not too bad horror film (with that scottish redhead one off of doctor who), though after the lynch films so bloody conventional.

Just watched Silver Linings Playbook, second time I've seen it but it's still funny. Such a sweet ending as well even though it's blindingly obvious what's going to happen about halfway through.

Noah's OK; Grand Budapest Hotel is great, Transcendence is good.

I thought Noah was not too bad but lost it in the last wee bit.

I love that film. Phenomenal acting from both Jennifer Lawrence & Bradley Cooper.

Haha - your having a laugh. It's shocking.

Surely that must have been intentional though? Given all relevant circumstance and that... how could it not be? I've been assuming that was the selling point and quite fancied it actually. What kinda shocking do you mean by shocking?
