why is it that sometimes I don't get withdrawls from heroin for a very long time

I have been a regular heroin user for over 10 years and typically, stop using at night, around 10 or 11pm, usually by 8 or 9 am the next day, I am starting to feel shitty. Every so often, I will wake up fine and be fine for a really long time. Today is one of those days, and I am wondering if anyone can explain why this happens. I did not dose especially heavier than usual last night, its almost 12:30 now, and I still feel perfectly fine, usually by now I would have major anxiety, beginnings of stomach problems. The only difference today from usual is that yesterday I used powder heroin, white... Usually I use tar. Truthfully, I am usually nodding much harder than I did last night, but then I have heard frmo some people that powder H has a more alert high than tar, so maybe this is it. any ideas?

My guess is maybe the powder was cut with something with a longer half life.. That's purely a guess though.

White powder is generally more potent. The duration of morphine(the active metabolite of diamorphine) is dose dependent, so a large dose can stave off WD for a surprisingly long time.

But in any case, the body is not a fine tuned, perfectly predictable machine. Sometimes it will take longer than usual for WD symptoms to set in, other times you'll wake up with your legs jumping after what should have been a decent dose. Remember that many things can affect opioid metabolism, and thus reduce/increase the half-life of morphine.

Just down to the quality of the gear,
From my last smoke I normally go 8 to 10 hrs before I get sick,
Have had crap gear in the past which has only held me for 4 to 6 hrs
