Hello everyone, kinda got a problem and looking for input from all the great minds here.....
I need an excuse that sounds legit so I can leave work on Friday for 2 weeks but still have a job to come back too after. Been offered a trip offshore which will lead to more work in September and put 6k in my skyrocket BUT don't wanna lose the job I'm on ATM :(
Help meeee!

Depends how much they know about your personal life and how much you're prepared to put up an act.

Take compassionate leave because your g/f has topped herself?

you could come down with an inexpliccable bout of insomnia. :sus: A guy at my last workplace had that happen every single school holiday and it was obviously some kind of child care problem, but no one could prove otherwise. He kept his job despite taking 3 months sick every fucking summer, he actually went on to a much better one. Or failing that cant you just take annual leave as Sam suggested, or offer to work the hours back later, or even take unpaid leave. There's a lot of options.

Don't really get annual leave, but biggest problem is the short notice :/ I'm tempted to say the good lord has taken someone close? Or say I've stacked my bike and messed myself up? Grrr first world problems!

How long have you been employed ? If your full time - go to the doctors, My back / heady/ ass or any appendage? A family death ?

Death looks like it's the only option. I'd say partner because you can get another, so less likely to get caught out if you're still working at the same place for years to come. I'd give suicide as the cause, because people will be too embarrassed to ask much about it.

You looking to stay for a while - get HIV :/ Noooo - just found out got HIV. Two weeks, no questions asked and follow up reasons if you need.

^^ Good shout! You could spin that out forever. "Got a cold, hope it's not serious this time".

In fact you should mention it at every interview for a new job. Might even help you get it.

I've got a genuine health problem, but I don't half dine out on it - I see it as compensation.

I would say miss it off the CV - Reading, playing video games, taking my HIV meds doesn't read that well.

You're an evil genius. I thought "I've got the shits" was a good excuse that no-one really questions, or the more extreme "I've shat myself" which they definitely won't question, but "I've got HIV" beats that by a mile.
