What do you do with your used needles?

Especially when you're out somewhere and don't have your typical disposal container with you.

If I'm out somewhere and absolutely have to dump them (I'm going somewhere that would pose a risk carrying them) - then I snap the needle off, stick it into the syringe and stick it in a trash bin.

I'll never leave a used fit out on the street; never - not just because I don't want someone to prick themselves, but because I *KNOW* a junky will pick one up and use it if it comes to that and that's not a nice thing. I'll almost always just cap it and stash it in a bag, pocket or whatever and dispose of at home, but yeah - if I need to ditch it, then I snap the needle and bin it.
 
Put them inside an old desktop computer until I have enough to give them a proper disposal.
 
if the guy rooted through the trash to get a rig he deserves whatever is coming even though I am an addict and know desperation its still dumb to to such a thing and if you do you gotta realize your putting getting high ahead of your health which means your gonna get burned eventually with such risky behaviour Reminds me of the guy in reindeer spotting who dug through the trash found a rig and goes its a little slimy but oh well wee fuck it I want to get high. Do you expect garbage to be sterile?

I'm not saying it's anybody's fault. Just saying we can protect people from themselves if we dispose of needles properly.
 
Lol yea I get it I just thinking if I'm going through a garbage to get a rig then getting hep C isn't gonna be too high on my list of fears for what I could contract.
 
The rules I have are strict - can't recap, can't put in the garbage, can't put in a container and take it out to put in my sharps container. I thought I had a decent temp container for when I'm out. It has a wide mouth lid. I figured I could dump it out at home without touching anything but then when I brought it to an appointment I was told not to use it.
 
Usually I'll just hold on to them until I find a playground to ditch em at, if I don't find myself near a playground there's always the ball pit at mcdonalds
 
When I was using needles all the time I had a HORRIBLE habbit of just saving them all and would be to broke (ya, like 4 bucks is too much to spend when you are doing that all the time) and just re-use them. BAD, know I don't have to say it but to you guys but NEVER do that anyone,it's the only reason I have scars from that.. but once I wised up I would never use it more than twice(still bad). Anyway, I would recap put back in plastic pack,cover plastic pack with tinfoil and toss em' out the window. Or just find a gas station garbage can recap and throw it in there. I mean, what else do you do with them besides throw away unless you have a needle exchange around you?
 
Bust the needle in a soda can, shove barrel and plunger in, wad up paper and shove in. If there's no soda can, I'll break the needle and duct tape it all together tightly. Then throw it away in a trashcan that no little kids could reach. Otherwise I have a biohazard container at home.
 
I slam the syringe down on a hard surface at a certain angle so the cap breaks off with the needle and surrounding plastic still in it. Then throw them in the trash or if need be dump them elsewhere.

You're missing the point mate, so fucking what if you're too clean to use a needle from the trash? No one 'deserves' Hep C for being desperate.

It's like this - we need to acknowledge that people *DO* do things like this - junkies WILL use needles they find in the trash, on train tracks, etc. They already have very little value for their own life, they're incredibly depressed and clearly not thinking about their health or safety in a positive manner.

The point is - with this knowledge in mind, do you best to do your bit to prevent it from happening. You may not be able to force a junky to care more about their health, but you CAN make sure your dirty fit is not left somewhere that it can be picked up and used.

It's not about judging people, it is about harm reduction, if that harm reduction means just making it a little bit more difficult for somebody to engage in incredibly harmful behaviour, than so be it.

Don't be so fucking high & mighty.
