Feeling short of breath for several days...GABA overload? Is this a serious problem?

I've found myself in a tricky situation and I'm not sure if this is a serious problem but I am desperate for any sort of explanation.

At 6:00am, I took 300mg of lyrica. I've been extremely anxious lately, so six hours later, I took two kalms valerian capsules and 1.25mg of valium. I also chew nicotine gum, and I had about one stick. Then, six hours later from that, at about 6:00pm, I had a 4% can of cider. I've been mistreating my body lately and I seriously regret it.

No sooner than I had the can of 4% cider, I began to feel very out of breath. This has lasted for two whole days and hasn't stopped. I experience dizziness and I can't sleep properly because I keep waking up. I constantly feel that I'm short of breath/as if 'there's not enough oxygen in the air.'
visited the GP, and I'm taking in enough oxygen and my blood pressure is okay. He says that the feeling of being breathless is 'okay' and that I'm not in any danger. What I didn't get was an explanation.

Does anyone know what might have happened? Any help would be very much appreciated. I do suffer from anxiety, but I was completely fine until I drank that can of cider.

yes, too much Gaba can cause shortness of breath, increased anxiety and numbness around the mouth. I have to run for now but i will get back to you with more definitive answers later on.

If you have already visited a GP, I am assuming that he already checked your vital signs which seems to me, appears to be in normal condition. I have had a negative drug reaction but this was not from too much GABA, but if I am going to apply my experience with drugs, for some people, it just takes time for the neurotransmitters to be back to normal.

i would also suggest that you do not take any other drugs and just let your body/brain be back to normal. If you are still worried about the shortness of breath, go back to the doctor and have your lungs checked up, do some blood tests done etc.

What I would also suggest on top of this is of course, exercise, eating healthy so that you recover faster.

Unless you're not getting enough oxygen, you shouldn't worry about shortness of breath.
Have you had asthma attacks before? You may be having one right now for some reason.

I think its just an overload of depressants there. Lyrica, followed by anti anxieties and then alcohol wasn't exactly the best idea. If the GP check you out , and your stats are fine, then I suggest you don't take all those drugs for a little while. Of course, keep taking lyrica if you are prescribed it, as its not a good idea to stop it abruptly.

Also as the poster above me said, it could be an asthma attack but the GP should have identified it as such. Seek medical help if you get chest pains that radiate to the arms, and you are seriously out of breath.

Thanks for replying, everyone.

Although it's been a funny period for me lately, I've been trying to get myself on track -- I've started going to the gym and attending therapy. Is it safe to continue exercising with my shortness of breath symptoms?

I haven't had any asthma attacks before, no. I've never had any physical issues (which is why I've been taking my physical health for granted until now).

I do feel some discomfort in my arms. It's not strong pain, but a tight, sore sensation.

^it is safe but just do light exercises, like maybe start with walking for now and see how you feel then build up from there.
