So Bluelight runs no SSL/https, and also disallows access through Tor.

People assume that everything that people write on bluelight is the truth. Even if someone posts a video on the internet these days half of society will call it out for being cgi or a fake.

If you pieced together all my posts I'm a 20 female who lives in France and loves Brussel sprouts. The police would be extremely disappointed if they bashed in my door right now searching for drugs or illegal paraphernalia. If you have something to hide then dick sizing on the internet is the least of your concerns.

The thing is, absolute end-to-end encryption, whilst certainly possible, is very easy to get wrong. It's very, very hard to know for certain that the plaintext isn't exposed somewhere.

Sometimes the best you can do is acknowledge that it's not safe, and hope that your tiny signal gets drowned in an ocean of noise ..... If THEY really want you, they'll get you.

^ I am sure the creator of PGP ( Phillip Zimmerman ) created a method that maybe only him / some government agency know... that allows PGP to be decrypted

He is bound to have created a method... sure he doesn't want PGP to be used against him

The Source Code of PGP is freely available for anyone to study. If there was a backdoor in PGP, then any sufficiently-competent mathematician would be able to spot it.

In terms of a point to point connection such as a VPN I can't see why that is so hard, in fact I know it isnt that hard given the infrastructure, keys and complex passwords etc it's done as a matter of course in industries where the clear text has significant value and if compromise where possible it would be happening.

As far as accessing certain internet sites from countries like China, It's not something I have any real knowledge of but I'd bet hard currency (not your Bitcoin malarkey) that there are ways.

The idea that we are losing freedom on the internet feels like overlooking all the good it does in the sharing of important information. It's much harder for governments to oppress people in secret these days, someone, some how will upload film, pics of just communicate the issue. The digital landscape is moving fast, faster than anything that big has moved before and it's clear that regardless of the NSA or whoever they are on the backfoot, I don't buy into the idea that 'they' are all seeing :sus:

Edit - Just noted the PGP thing, again the idea there is a backdoor is parnoia, it's an open source algorithm, I'm not familiar with how it works, the last time I had to get into that kind of detail was 3DES. Brute force attacks on modern encryption is very unlikely, if you want in there is almost always a better way.

I love the smugness from mods when ever this topic comes up.

Someone else mentioned it already. What if a person in the UAE (& I'm sure a fuck load of other countries) would like HR advice without potentially getting executed?

The desire for privacy doesn't solely belong to cunts in the UK trying to punt a gram of ket.

It's a fair point and not one I'd taken into consideration so withdraw my smug comment entirely. I guess it's just what comes from being so used to EADD = UK & Ireland Drug Discussion. Not all have it so easy and there are situations it's entirely reasonable to require more precautions. Having said that I know sod all about it so will leave it at that - oversight on my part rightfully corrected by others.

This is also a fair point but suspect it would not be considered a point at all in situation as mentioned above. I have no idea if folk from the UAE or such places are actually put off from using this site for privacy issues but suspect they probably have bigger issues to be honest.

but i can't swim, if i stop i sink, i cant tread water ?

Well you could always start every post with "My friends pet cat took a heavy dose of skull cracker last night and isn't feeling quite the ticket today..."

If I was the authorities I'd track down these guys before I started busting abdullah for having a stick of hash under his burkah
