When is it OK for a man to hit a woman?

yesterday i was at my friends house and this crazy ratchet he had over took a swing at me and tried to knee me in the balls because i wouldn't give her my only cigarette. i came REAL close to knocking her the fuck out but didn't because my lack of desire to go to jail overtook my instincts.

i would NOT have felt bad about it at all.

so i ask, when is it alright to hit a woman? (morally, not in terms of going to jail and all that)

(note: i have never in my life hit a women other than during rough sex, and that wasn't punching them in the face or nothing)

for me if a woman attacks you like a man would (ie kicks and punches) it's ok to knock her the fuck out, that's about it though other than something like pulling a knife on you or trying to rob you.
 
I think you should absolutely defend yourself if a woman (or anyone) is attacking you, but it should be done with the least amount of force possible like a submission hold. Men tend to be a bit stronger than women and a well placed punch could do a lot of damage or even potentially kill.
 
Respect gets respect. If a woman is gonna hit you full force like a man, then sorry sweetie, I'm hitting back. I don't go around putting my hands on other people. I was raised better than that. Enough with the 'women are the fairer/weaker sex' double standard bullshit. You don't wanna get punched in the mouth, don't go around starting fights.

Self defence, if they hit you first or if they deserve it :p

I've had a couple of girlfriends in the past that would get violent towards me and i sure as hell regret not swinging back.

There should be no differences between the sexes on when it is and isn't ok to hit them..
 
Man, that is pretty brutal! That's good you blocked the low blow...

BUT, you should never punch a woman unless she has a weapon like a crowbar or hammer, or if she is the baddest bitch on the planet.

I'd say a submission move to protect yourself would be fine. It's just too easy to defend yourself against any woman, unless your like a puny man or something.

I agree that a person has a right to defend themselves regardless of the sex/orientation/age/etc.
I'm a very non-violent person but if a woman attacked me and I believed she had the potential to seriously harm me I would hit her; however, that is the only time I believe violence to be acceptable behavior towards anyone ever.
 
I have never met a woman who could seriously hurt me. I'd never hit a woman. Far more effective to simply man handle her back into her seat, look her in the eye and laugh at her. Knowing that you could inflict a beating at any time is far more effective than unleashing violence in retaliation.

Of course I am only talking about the bat shit crazy bitches who like to think they can throw down. Most sensible adults don't even have to raise their voices when they argue.

tbh, as a woman, I wouldn't hold it against you for defending yourself against her provided you don't seriously hurt her.

Recognise that it's extremely likely you could easily do a lot more harm to her than her to you, and keep your defence somewhat proportional.
 
(US) No law can be enacted that takes away your right to defend yourself. So under an attack of lethal force, who cares about the gender??? for non lethal stuff, realisticly, defend, escape, restrain...stay out of jail and be a good guy.
It is OK to hit a woman when she's on a cross in a dungeon. But only the way she likes it.
 
Wow! What is going on here! A man fighting/punching a woman because she took a swing at him... I am shocked..

I can only see this case if the man was physically inferior to the woman.. It is just simply way to easy to defend against a woman. You can easily block any punch she throws at you or just grab her wrist or do a bear hug. Do you seriously have to punch back. Really! Man, that is just disappointing. I think a man would lose all his man points if he had to scope down to that level. I think men in this society are starting to lose their masculinity.

If she had a weapon, that is a different story. I might go for a left hook knock-out if she was a serious treat..

^i didn't hit her, my insticts (as a former street fighter) almost made me but my rational mind was enough to prevent me.

if you've been involved in a lot of hand to hand combat your reflexes are to take out an attacker.
 
I think hitting people is always wrong. When is it "okay" to hit someone? When that's your last option. Self defense mostly.

I know you didn't hit her & there is nothing wrong with wanting to. I was aiming my opinion towards all the responses of men saying it is okay to fight a woman. I'm just saying that it isn't really necessary. Fighting a woman would be in the same ballpark as fighting a 13-14 year old boy... Its just not necessary. You did right man
