I'd say that it was probably quite an astute observation
She was big on stereotypes from what I recall. Very much before the term 'politically correct' was in common parlance. Always came over as a rather posh, moderately fascist old bag to me. I'm sure she was lovely to children and animals. Perhaps not so much to golliwogs.
My mother was really into her too - she also like to take the chance - any chance - to read them to my younger brothers. Suspect she only had the last one so she could re-read The Faraway Tree![]()
I like Enid Blyton. Been reading them to my daughter but secretly like re-reading them. I don't like, though, how she always seems to portray the beautiful girls as spoilt n spiteful.

Ermm Shambles 'one hit wonder' in terms of celebrity and finances but (1st and um sort of last) Theaudience album which Sophie Ellis-Bextor fronted may well have been little known...but is one of my favourites and I am filled with some happiness that an unrelesed 2nd album has just been discovered on youtube...(oh and she had 2 hits' Murder on the dance floor' and with Spiller-Groovejet!!?).
