Schapelle Corby will celebrate freedom 'with a joint', says former lawyer Kerry Smith

so if they (afp) found evidence of mass payment to the corby camp in Indo (bali) they can take it? Even though it's to say her brother in law or whatever and he and Schapelle are both in Indo under their laws…?

One would have to assume so, although I don't know for sure how the law actually works - I could check AUSTIII but, honestly, I'm way too high at the moment =D

Leeza Tracey Ormsby arrested in Bali on drug charges

A Sydney woman has been arrested in Bali on drug charges.

Balinese police have arrested Leeza Tracey Ormsby, 38, a New Zealander who lives in NSW, after they allegedly found 159 grams of methamphetamine at a villa in Dalung, a suburb of Denpasar.

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was aware of the arrest, a spokesman said.

"The consul from the New Zealand embassy in Jakarta is providing consular support and has visited the New Zealander," he said.

The embassy’s role was to monitor her welfare and ensure that she had the same rights as other detainees in Indonesia, he said. The ministry could not comment on the investigation or interfere in the judicial proceedings of another country.

Everyone is claiming her as their own, New Zealand because she was born there, Australia because she lives there, Sydney because they think they're better than a country and probably Indonesia, because well who wouldn't want to confiscate 2-3 million AUD?

A Sydney woman arrested in Bali when drugs were allegedly found at her villa may have been dealing, police say.

Police reportedly found MDMA, marijuana and hashish at a villa in North Kuta where Leeza Tracey Ormsby, 37, was staying.

According to a police document seen by Fairfax Media, Ms Ormsby was allegedly found with a joint inside her bag. When police later searched the villa, they say they found 27 grams of hashish and 132 grams of MDMA. An electric scale, tape and plastic wrappers were also allegedly found at the villa.

A local police source said it was possible she was dealing drugs. ‘‘Judging from the evidence, it’s possible she’s dealing. If [she’s] just a user, why do you need a scale?’’ the source said.

It is understood Ms Ormsby lives in Paddington, Sydney. According to her lawyer, Ary B Soenardi, she is unemployed and arrived in Bali just a few days before she was arrested on February 12. She was in Bali to visit a friend, he said.

Ms Ormsby, also known as Leeza Morrison, on her Linked-In profile describes herself is a fitness trainer in the Sydney area and “owner of Shakedown street Espresso”.

Ms Ormsby, who was born in Rotorua, New Zealand, was arrested at a North Kuta village in Denpasar for possession, Denpasar drug squad chief Agus Tri Waluyo said.

Major Waluyo said police received information there was going to be drugs at a party in the villa.

‘‘We made the ambush on Wednesday around 8am,’’ he said. ‘‘In that location, we found the evidence."

According to a statement given to investigators, Ms Ormsby admitted that some days before the raid, a drugs party had taken place with five of her friends, who had then returned to their home countries.

Police say Ms Ormsby has not yet been charged.

Indonesia is renowned for heavy penalties for drug use.

Ross Bell, from the New Zealand Drug Foundation, said it was well known that drug laws in south-east Asia were some of the toughest in the world and Indonesian laws were some of the most ‘‘draconian in that region’’.

Both cannabis and methamphetamine were classed as Group One drugs in Bali, which meant they were considered highly addictive and therefore dangerous. Possession of a Group One drug in Bali could receive a penalty of life imprisonment. Trafficking a Group One drug could receive the death penalty.

Ms Ormsby was arrested only two days after convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby was released on parole after spending nine years imprisoned in Kerobokan prison.

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was aware of the arrest, a spokesman said.

"The consul from the New Zealand embassy in Jakarta is providing consular support and has visited the New Zealander," he said.

Three different articles on her all with differing amounts of drugs and even different drugs (2 say meth, one says mdma)…

Who knows what to make of all that.

Umm.. to weigh your dose?

Three different articles on her all with differing amounts of drugs and even different drugs (2 say meth, one says mdma)…

Who knows what to make of all that.

The media probably heard the term "amphetamine", or heard the chemical name for MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine) and thought "oh, amphetamine, that must be meth". Journalists are not very knowledgeable when it comes to reporting about drugs, they should spend more time on Bluelight and learn a thing or two. I don't know any other topic that is reported with such ignorance.

Seriously, if people are still so stupid as to go to Bali to party on drugs - well, they know the risks, I have little sympathy. Maybe if Australia stopped treating Indonesia like a brothel they mightn't be so pissed at us all the time? :\

Eat shrooms. I think they are pretty much legal there, places advertise they sell them with signs on the roads and stuff. They can be insanely strong tho.

So much for that 'The Expendibles' crap...

Schapelle Corby admitted her guilt, says Bali Nine courier Renae Lawrence

April 7, 2014 - 5:36PM

Jakarta: Schapelle Corby admitted her guilt and said the fateful 2004 drug run that saw her locked up for ten years was actually her fourth trip to Bali as a courier, according to fellow Australian prisoner Renae Lawrence.

Lawrence, one of the Bali Nine heroin couriers, has also alleged in an interview broadcast on the Ten Network that Corby faked mental illness to get a shorter sentence — a tactic that worked.

Corby was granted a five-year sentence reduction in 2012 by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who cited compassionate grounds because of the Australian’s mental illness. This is likely to be the most damaging revelation from the interview.

A spokesman for the Indonesian Justice and Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin said of that allegation: “That is her [Corby's] good luck”. However, if the Indonesian media pick up the line and use it to criticise Dr Yudhoyono for being too cosy with Australia, it may affect Corby’s parole. As it stands, the minister is still considering whether to send her back to Kerobokan prison over sister Mercedes’ interview last month with Channel Seven’s Mike Willesee.

But the allegation about previous drug runs would change nothing, said two Indonesian government spokesmen. Corby had been convicted and served the bulk of her sentence and there was no evidence of other trips, they said.

In the interview, Lawrence said in the five years she lived in the same cell block as Corby, she “did a good job on keeping secrets but she let one slip one night” to Lawrence and another prisoner.

“She said that she knew the marijuana was in the body [sic] bag but that the person who was supposed to be at the airport at that time didn’t show up for work or couldn’t be there for some strange reason, I don’t know … And that’s how she got caught.

“She told me and the other prisoner that she done it more than this time. She got away with it before … and she said how she had to keep saying that she wasn’t guilty because if she changed her mind she was scared she would lose all the Australian support.”

Elaborating on the earlier drug trips, Lawrence said: “She said she brought the drugs before, three times. The first time she didn’t know [about the drugs] until she got through the airport, but the other times she knew.”

Visa stamps in Corby's passport show she made four visits to Bali in the years before her 2004 arrest: in March, August and December 1999, and in July 2000.

Corby, who has also repeatedly denied she smoked cannabis, had “used since she was a teenager,” according to Lawrence.

On the question of Corby’s mental illness, Lawrence said, “She, um, actually, she acted crazy … She said it herself. She played crazy so that she would get more sympathy and more time off from the President of Indonesia. Which actually worked for her … She would put on more of an act when someone important came into the block like the doctor of the jail boss.”

When Dr Yudhoyono granted Corby five years off her sentence (reducing it from 20 years to 15) in 2012, he cited her mental illness as the main reason.

Prison sources have in the past blamed Lawrence, who was responsible at one point for administering anti-psychotic medication to Corby, for getting the dosage wrong and prompting her mental illness.

Lawrence, who had a sometimes antagonistic relationship with Corby, appears to be motivated partly by anger to give the interview.

Lawrence intends to apply for parole next year, but like other members of the Bali Nine was infuriated by the Corby family’s inept handling of Schapelle’s release. This included initially living in a five-star luxury villa, arranging a lucrative paid interview with Willesee (which fell through over objections from the Indonesian government) and implying that Schapelle Corby may have been set up by Indonesian authorities.

Lawrence said these events may damage the chances of others.

“I don’t know why she has to keep carrying on like she is. She’s not helping herself and she is not helping us other foreigners who want to go for parole … she should just be quiet … If she keeps doing what she’s doing she is going to ruin it for everyone."

The revelations in the paid interview will infuriate the Corby family and supporters who continue to insist on Schapelle’s innocence.

The Corby family released a media statement ahead of the interview saying Schapelle Corby denied admitting her guilt to Lawrence. "The claims by Renae Lawrence that Schapelle confessed to her that she had knowingly smuggled the marijuana in her boogie board bag are false," the statement said. "The further claims by Renae Lawrence that Schapelle had done so on many occasions are preposterous, maliciously false and a creation of her own fantasy."

Corby was convicted in 2004 of couriering 4.2 kilograms of cannabis to Indonesia and sentenced to 20 years in jail, which was later reduced to 15 years.

Yeah, like a convicted heroin smuggler who stole cars and tried to plot to kill 2 prison guards is a person to trust? lol.... Renae just snitched so she could get paid, 30 grand I hear she got. What an idiot. She will likely be made to pay for being so stupid.

Lawrence has very low intelligence, as if channel 10 and others didnt convince her this was a good idea.

As for the 'The Expendibles' crap... They have so many valid points, and the AFP and media are such dogs and scum and the Bali government and police are so corrupt, most of it is very likely.

As if SC did it 3 or 4 times and as if she confided in RL at all, she has never (not once) admitted guilt, even though it would have got her further reductions in her sentence, why would that be? And why the hell would she change her story just for Renae? hahaha how fucking stupid. I hope channel 10 and RL get made to pay for that POS story/smear campaign against someone who clearly isnt allowed to tell her side (as she is on strict parole). So it's ok for RL to tell her stories and get paid, but it's not ok for SC to? Bit one sided that don't you think?

RL is so full of shit, I'm surprised you believe that pile of shit she came out with. And as if RL didn't know it was being taped/recorded, look at the footage, how the hell wouldnt you notice. I know she is dumb, but jesus.

Renae Lawrence in hot water at Bali’s Kerobokan jail over Schapelle Corby secret video

RENAE Lawrence could be denied a chance to have her sentence reduced after she was secretly caught on video alleging that her former cellmate, Schapelle Corby, knowingly smuggled marijuana into Indonesia.

In the vision broadcast on Network Ten on Monday, Lawrence, a member of the Bali Nine drug traffickers, says Corby had confided in her that she knew there was marijuana in her surfing gear when she was arrested in 2004.

Speaking to someone off camera, Lawrence said Corby had done it three times before and admitted she “played crazy” to get the public’s sympathy, and to win sentence reductions.

Ten reported Lawrence didn’t know she was being videoed at the time, but didn’t deny making the comments when asked later.

Sunar Agus, head of corrections at Bali’s justice office, says he has seen the vision and will investigate the circumstances. “What we will look into is how Renae could have that interview within the prison compound, including whether she received payment or not,” he said.

“It’s a disciplinary violation to not ask permission and its impact could be that she does not get her remission.” Mr Agus said it was not within his jurisdiction to examine the claims about Corby, whose parole is being reviewed in light of an interview given by her sister, Mercedes.

In the Seven Network interview, she maintained her 36-year-old sister was innocent and said the marijuana “could have been from Indonesia”. Authorities are yet to determine whether that interview breached parole conditions by upsetting the community.

The Corbys have also denied the new allegations, saying they are “extremely hurtful”.

If Lawrence is punished, it will not be the first time.

The 36-year-old was moved from Kerobokan jail to another prison in Bali in October, accused of conspiring with another inmate to murder two female prison guards.

But she was transferred to a less isolated jail last month due to good behaviour.

A spokeswoman for Network Ten told media news website Mumbrella that it paid a small fee to an agency, not to Lawrence, for the interview.

I think her interview where she narcs out corby will hurt their chances way more than Schapelle living it up a little... Lawrence should have kept her mouth shut.. not smart at all.
