Certainly showing my age but could I ask of you to read "fear & loathing" - though if I can remember in the movie the quote about 1966 being the "high tide mark" was gold. Wasn't trainspotting a bit dark? Try Christiane F and/or Liquid Sky. Cheers I will check out human traffic

I thought Fear and Loathing was a tad overrated in all honesty, once you get over the "omg theyre using so many drugs!" thought

I think I voted for Requiem, but really enjoy F&L every time I watch it. It's not really the drugs just the way it's narrated throughout and I find it enjoyable to watch. Also I read some of Hunter S Thompson's stuff so I'm a fan of his work. The Rum Diary was a great read.

I just feel like people enjoy it because it's weird for the sake of being weird whereas Half Baked actually has a plot, with memorable conversations, with rising action, climax, all that shit

F&L is just like "WHOAAA mannnn they're on xxx and xxx and xxx that's so crazy!"

and honestly like I get enough of that when im on drugs myself

not saying its a bad movie, just wasnt really something I was blown away by
