Snap. :\ Well not exactly i discovered hash before i properly discovered getting pissed, its quite ironic that it was sometimes easier to get hash at 16 than it was to get alcohol at friends houses/at school and things like that. Allthough my parents were allways very open about alcohol, would let me have w/e drinks i asked for at home within reason, rather than turning it into forbidden fruit. That's one thing they got right. I did go through a bit of a piss head phase age 17-22 ish and then again in my 30s though. But by my 20s i was mixing it with speed and all that kind of stuff.

As for TDS being 'serious', I think that's unavoidable given the subject matter. The forum is extremely popular nonetheless. Maybe MDB just isn't a TDS person?

Good points made there. As I said 'different strokes for different folks.'

My suggestion of feedback was not aimed at TDS - althought MDB's opinion had me think of that suggestion. But I see where you're coming from.

I also agree with you that the Recovery Forums being serious is unavoidable. To be honest, I never really thought of them as "to serious." TDS was one of the first sub-forums that I hung out in when I joined Bluelight and I received a lot of support and guidance from them. That guidance, and help from previous moderators in EADD, has helped me to become more rational and 'try to see it from another person's perspective,' as opposed to just thinking that someone is out for the attack and "defending myself" back in the process. And also the recovery forums help me out because I go there to try and help out other mmbers there - and that makes me feel of some valuable and somewhat useful. I like to try and help other people in some way, listen to them, try to be a friend n some some empathy and compassion as was shown to me when I first came to BL.

Right novel's over my spag bol is almost ready!

Indeed it is. Im a daily drinker, been for many years, aint fun. All tho' I love the first 2 beers when I wake up, going from anxiety-crap to feeling like king.

I've got panic disorder, ie. random, frequent, and completely uncontrollable huge panic attacks where I basically want to die. Got out of hang tonight, even after taking 6mg Xanax, I punched a wall repeatedly and can't really move my hand and then proceeded to cut my hand pretty severely, as in it won't stop bleeding. Nothing hospital worthy, at all, but I'm worried about my mental state right now and dunno what the fuck to do and if 6mg xanax haven't chilled me out I dunno at will, and I'm not comfortable taking more.

But you are, and were, dashingly good looking. And really the whole thing was about you being there, sitting at my table, without me knowing your name. Other BLers were there too. I know their names.

Did I mention you're good looking?

PS All the stuff about shoving it up his arse wasn't really in my dream. That was just for the benefit of giving "him" something to wank over.

I do think you're good looking though. Did I say that?

There is one for EADD here. One of Knock's better forum improvement ideas - was actually thinking about it just this very morning oddly enough. Came up with a "brilliant idea for EADD" only to recall a few moments later that Knock beat me to it several months ago.

Several sub-forums have similar threads - probably worth asking in the equivalent of Gibberings in TDS or whichever forum you have feedback for. Staff do like feedback cos it lets us know what's working, what needs attention, new ideas and so on.

Oh I never knew Knock had a similar idea for EADD I'll have a look at that.
When MDB mentioned that the recovery forums are serious it worried me a bit (I personally love the recovery forums n have got a lot from it n am not by any means, having a go at MDB here). It's just that I'm worried that others may have a similar view n may not be going there n thus not receiving support which could benefit them. And figured that if there was a kind of thread for each sub-forum where people could leave feedback. I wasn't aware that members can leave feedback in support, and I'm wondering as to how many other members know that feedback can be left in the 'support' area. If, for instance, a member has never had to use support, they may be unaware of being able to do so. And leaving feedback and obvious means---links, could very much help Bluelight....and the members.

S*** I went off on a bit ramble there...

In general people with problems are treated well over here, but a certain degree of 'thick skinnedness' is essential as some people dont half speak their minds pretty robustly. Some times thats easier to deal with than others. But in general, provided you dont get aggressive and lashing out at other people, or overly repetetive or annoying in any way, then practically anything goes.

I have only made brief visits to TDS but every thread seems to be 'ive got this very serious problem' and not so many 'this is how i solved my problems' type things. Thats probably unfair but tbh i find it unhealthy and hard to deal with all the doom and gloom without getting dragged down by it. You need to be stronger or different in some way than i am not to be affected by it all in a negative way. People running into problems on EADD is different because more often than not you get to know the person before they start opening up about their problems, not just 'wham, straight in there, complete strangers in desperate need'. Too hard to deal with. Too potentially triggering to be wallowing in all that misery/depression/anxiety/whatever.

You have a valid point there, MDB, but you must see that a lot of people are in TDS n SL are in the early stages of overcome addictions and there are thread created there to try and get members to have a more positive mindset so that they can start thinking "This is how I solve my problem," as oppose to "I have a problem." Thinking in terms of things to be thankful for and positive things on a daily basis will hopefully have members realising that life is not as bad as they think and thus they may find some motivation in thinking of how to change things. It's a kind of "one step at a time" thing. That's my interpretation anyone. I've talked to members who benefited from the recovery sub-forums. Also I have had a laugh in some of the threads in TDS too so it is not as serious as it may seem when you first look.

It can't be easy for her all the way in Australia either. It's good that her partner phoned her n good that she has friends like you to help her. She's really down on herself apologising for wanting help poor girl xxxx
 
I'm gathering that MDB is good looking...well, I wil, admit, that one pic was purdy steamy...but I haven't been having dreams about him. Yet...;)

Sorry it's rough Pagey....panic attacks are a living nightmare....used to get them regularly, got a serious case of PTSD after getting busted, trying to run, prison, etc. Lots of therapy has mostly cleared that up. Benzos worked a treat until they didn't. Still trying to unravel that mess, but getting closer...

All the advice on breathing, mindfulness, and a simple walk is sound stuff. Love the love in here <3

BL is a big ol' site and it's not easy to inform every member of every forum and all the various pluses and minuses they come with. In reality, people tend to just post whatever they want to say in whatever forum they are most comfortable with or sometimes seemingly completely at random. This is where modding comes in - move threads/posts where appropriate and inform members of their options as and where appropriate.

As for TDS - and the whole Recovery/Sobriety section of the site - I steer well clear cos I know damn well it's not suited to me and my style of posting is likely to do more harm than good. Like most folk - and perhaps especially staff - I do have the utmost respect for the folk who mod those areas and TDS in particular. Without doubt the toughest job on all of BL in my book.

Oh, and MDB? I would too ;)
