my girl friend is having the following problems:

1. lack of sleeping inducement, takes 2-3 hours to sleep.
2. even is she sleeps, it's not deep or it is highly semiconscious type. disturbed too.
3. mind is not calm; it is stressed and focus less, While sleeping.

this is what she needs now:

1. sleep should get induced within 30 mins of hitting the bed.
2. it should be deep; to the extent that even if someone kicks her hard, she should not wake up. even if it is for 10+ hours and hangover for 4-6 hours, the next day, it's ok.
3. she should not realise what's happening outside.
4. mind should be feeling light and calm.

the following are the choices we have.

1. she takes alcohol (vodka specifically, others also at times)
2. available medicines in the nearby pharmacy include flurazapem and zolpidem. I can try for other medicines, if suggested by the forum members.
3. no other stuff, basically a combination of alcohol and available medicines.
4. she has not taken any pills so far for sleeping / pleasure.

please give practical choices, opinion and suggestion for me to try this week end. I cant see her suffer. additionally details she is about 5 foot 6 inches, weighing about 75 kgs and has thyroid. she current takes thyronorm tab every morning empty stomach.

please help. thanks. please be as much detailed as possible, including quantity of alcohol, dosage of medicine etc. thanks in advance.

She needs to see a sleep therapist. It sound a bit as if the thyroid medication is not entirely effective.
I cannot recommend the knock-out approach. The sleep type you get after alcohol for example has been shown to be unsatisfactory, with disturbed deep sleep, apnoea, etc.
One possible therapy would be to try Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), marketed as Xyrem (Sodium Oxybate)
It is addictive (physically addictive) and a responsible doctor would want you to stop using it after a period of three months.
One disadvantage is that it causes the subject to sleep for about 5 hours and when the patient wakes up she is expected to take an additional dose.
The advantages are that the sleep is very natural and the patient feels refreshed and well in the morning.
Zolpidem is relatively safe, but only helps you go to sleep, if you are disturbed you wake up and have to take more to go back to sleep.
Sleep clinics have reported considerable success with melatonin.
If you receive melatonin therapy the clinic will expect you to follow strict sleeping patterns.
The benzodiazepines work but carry a heightened risk of addiction. Like alcohol the sleep quality is not as good.
I really recommend you consult a doctor about this as it seems to me your girl friend is suffering from more than not just sleeping properly.

@august - Thanks, very valuable and useful.
My comments:

1. sleep therapist is not available in this part of the world. hence, I don't have a proper choice now.
2. thyroid is controlling thyroid levels perfectly within limits. she is hypo thyroid category.
3. GHB is sounding better. checked 3 pharmas. xyrem is greek and latin to them. any alternatives?
4. guess, I would prefer zolpidem features + undisturbed sleep.
5. cant visits clinics since infrastructure here is not good.

we should head to a doctor, my suggestions was for short term. say for 7-10 days. then to a doctor since I need to convince her.

I think first I should try a knock out. only then will be she able to differentiate between, knockout, sleep therapy, normal medicine, ghb etc. only then she can choose which is right for her.

first choice is always oral. else some other choices.

If you take heavy stimulants, you cannot be expected to sleep soon. Fighting this with heavy sleeping pills is foolish. Wait until you come down before trying to sleep, if you cannot wait that long you most likely shouldn't be taking MDMA to begin with.

Hey mods and all. Maybe I'm missing it but I don't see any reference to MDMA or related drugs in OP's post. Maybe this is in the wrong section?

On topic: THIS IS MOST LIKELY A RESULT OF THE ALCOHOL! Sorry to yell and such, but alcohol is known to cause these exact sleep problems. I know because I'm a alcoholic. And I have these problems. Especially the intermittent days I choose not to drink.

Was just about to move this to BBD. So yeah MED ----> BDD.

I would say immediately cut out any idea of mixing alcohol with anything, especially over the counter products or weak scripts. Have her see a psychiatrist and get it looked at, they will definitely take care of it. Pretty how a great portion of people deal with sleep problems. Sleep study is a good idea as well but that is more expensive and should only be an issue if she snores a lot, may have sleep apnea. Unlikely though, take her to the doc and they will figure out what she needs.

O.P. I feel you are not telling the entire story.
GHB works on the GaBa receptors, Zolpidem too but not quite in the same way.
Not sure what part of the world you are in and I can't say anymore about this drug because of the rules. Suggest you research it yourself.

I don't know anyone who can sleep through getting kicked hard. Are you kidding? I'm a light sleeper so I can understand her frustration. Like Wicked said, alcohol intoxication will hinder sleep quality and is not conducive to restful sleep. Medications are meant for short term and the more they are used, the more a person depends on them leading to a vicious cycle. This is especially true with benzo drugs. Your girlfriend should speak to a physician about this if it continues. But first try non-drug or drink methods to sleep naturally. Her is a link that talks about sleep hygiene:
