^Honestly, I don't know how many lectures I've written on here about mixing benzos and opiates...I don't have another one in me...

All bullshit aside, it will kill you! Most of the people I know that died from heroin, it was really mixing it with that shit that did them in...

It ruins the high too...
 
I have some questions that I'd love some feedback on from people like me. When injecting heroin into places like your hands and feet, is it normal to have swelling for several days/weeks? Also, lumps at injection sites in the inner arm? I bruise like a peach and I wonder if there are places that will definitely hit for me all the time? I have such trouble getting my veins to hit. My center veins in my arms were perfect until scarring occurred and I can't hit there any longer so I had to try and find other places. My feet hit good until they got so swollen.. I have the problem where I'll hit in a spot and try to do it there again & it won't work... I can't snort it because it makes me sick. I have to get well in order to go to work and shit like that though. I can't function. Anyone have any input? Thanks! <3

It's normal to have slight bumps and irritation here and there.. but major lumps and swelling is a sign you're doing something wrong like missing, using old rigs, bad technique, etc.

Also, rotating your injection sites more will cause less scarring on single areas, so you'll avoid doing so much damage that the spot isn't usable anymore. How long have you been IV'ing for and what size needles do you use?
 
The problem with hands and feet, especially feet...is that they're hard to keep dry and clean...The IV sites get constantly rubbed and irritated...If you have small veins and sensitive skin, IVing drugs long term usually doesn't go well...It's extra important to use a brand new needle every time you do a shot, and make sure you find the ideal length and gauge of needle...for the little hand and feet veins, 5/16ths is the length you should probably use..
 
I definitely need to get some new hypes. The ones I was getting were really short and thin and I loved them. But the medicine shoppe has run out I guess because now they give me longer ones and they're also thicker. I used for a year and a half and quit cold turkey which was miserable. Then I relapsed 4 months ago. I'm sure the old tools are the reason for a good portion of the bruising and irritation. The lumps scare me a little. My boyfriend had some too and his went away. He seems to think mine will too. I'm sure I've missed a lot too due to my veins being almost useless. My foot was hitting beautifully on top and now its swollen up and sore and also numb around the injection site. Both hands have been swollen and sore for days. Circulation is poor to both my hands and feet and its taking forever for the swelling to go down. I take ibuprofen in the hopes that it'll help the swelling.

Well, I hope it at least taught you to be very careful mixing the two drugs...anything over 1mg of alprazolam, without a hefty benzo tolerance, is asking to die!

I also wonder, if you miss and it absorbs into your body, do you still get the effect? Like not necessarily get HIGH, but will it still help you get WELL?
 
^Yes, but it's not a good idea to "muscle" shots if you can avoid it...

Yes it still absorbs and you get the effect.. however, there is no rush, and the bioavailability isn't as high so you're not getting 100% of the dose. Search around the threads in Other Drugs. There is a lot of good HR info there on IV'ing and everything involving H.

You should get used to going to work dope sick because you will get fired if you miss too much work.
 
Thanks so much for your input Blue & Mr. Scags :) You've been really helpful! I'm going to look around on the other forums you suggested. Its nice having people to talk to who understand what you're going through. I'm kind of a closet junkie so I don't really have anyone who understands what I'm going through..
 
I have another question if you don't mind? If you miss, should you try to press the liquid out, or leave it so it will absorb into your blood?
 
There is no pressing the liquid out. If you miss the vein, the liquid disperses into the surrounding tissue. It's not just in a big liquid bubble under your skin you can suck out. So, the best thing to do for a general missed shot, is apply a hot compress, massaging the area gently for 20 minutes or so. This will speed up the absorption and help with any complications. Afterwards, an icepack can be used to get rid of the remaining swelling. The IV megathread has more info on missed shots and other complications.

I know what its like being a closet junkie. Not sure if its really much worse than being a well known junkie. Probably not as bad, since you are overly concerned about OD'ing or nodding out at the wrong time, so you take it a little easier. I, for one, do not want to drop that surprise on everyone.

I use to hang out on the regular with a few friends who were junkies. One won't leave his house with his girlfriend who I think hates having anyone else but them in the house anyway. He use to live close by so we'd chill and get fucked up all the time, but he moved and now its far enough away that its a pain to go over there just to sit there and get high, because he is impossible to inspire to do anything else. My other junkie friend became too scummy to hang out with, he'd try to sucker you into paying for half his habit and I don't care for that(also he is like the other dude, perma-glued to his couch/bed, neither will go out to parties, bars, gotta be at their place or you don't see them). I'm on Subs now, but even when I was getting high I was hanging out with non-junkies more often, but a lot of those friends don't know about how bad my habit is, I keep it under wraps pretty well. Even my closest friend isn't aware how bad it is. He talks about our other junkie friends and doesn't realize I was probably doing more than them, but like I said, I hide it well.
 
Was able to cop before work so in able to go in, got three buns for $10 over the price of 2 buns. Awesome deal :). Gonna get fucked up and then go to work
