As for quitting the benzos, that's definitely going to be a hurdle, but determination counts for a lot, and you seem determined.
With regard to the diaz script, I really don't think it'll happen. It sucks, but look at it this way: regardless of whether you're tapering with etizolam, street valium or prescribed valium, you still need to have the discipline and inner strength to stick to that taper. So while a medically-supervised taper would theoretically help keep you on the straight and narrow, in reality you could still end up boshing your monthly script in a week and supplementing it with street valium / etizolam. Which is what a lot of people on scripts do anyhow.
It's down to you, ultimately. Which may seem scary, I know.
