Opioids Normal to be getting very high on my methadone?

When I was on methadone, I told them I didn't want to go above 50mg but they insisted that I go up to 70mg, I recall that they kept telling me RIGHT BEFORE DOSING "if you have a problem with your dosage, you're going to have to talk to the doctor, and it takes weeks to make an appointment sometimes! It's rediculous, of course I just said fuck it, and took the methadone. What do you think a junky will do in that situation? If you hold out his medicine and then tell him to make an appointment to change his dose, what do you think is going to happen. The junky nine times out of ten will just say fuck it and take the medicine to feel better today and worry about tomorrow later. It's the junky mantra

Well like I said this is the first day I've really noticed such a pronounced effect. I have an appointment Thursday to possibly up my dose again, but it sounds as if that obviously is not necessary and a bad idea.

Yes, bad idea. Please try to stick with your 70mg and stop the dope for a week and two and see where that puts you. If your dose is still getting you high, 70mg is not a whole lot so the euphoria will diminish over time, DO NOT CHASE THE METHADONE HIGH!!! This is one of the BIGGEST mistakes made by people at methadone clinics, including myself the first time around with methadone, and PLENTY of people that I know. It is not worth it. In the end I was on 145mg not feeling a high AT ALL, I was a worthless lethargic piece of shit, and even if I took a double dose (one of my take homes) and ingested 300mg of methadone, it still wouldn't get me high. No need to chase it, because it's like any other drug, chasing the high is chasing a twinkie on a string while running on a treadmill.

If you absolutely have to, raise your dose to 75mg after a week, but none more. And do not go over 80mg. You're being adequately treated.

I want you to look at this chart of methadone maintenance administration and read the levels of medication and their description so you KNOW what you're trying to achieve. It's a page I found while browsing on my phone within the past year ago, so it's a screenshot from my phone.

OP: Look specifically at the top two entries in the chart (therapeutic comfort range, and overmedication symptoms and signs, you'll see you're exhibiting some of them according to what you've said), but please do read the whole thing. Will take a minute.

I've heard of people using on top of methadone in the beginning when they are on like 30-40mg, but not 70mg. Just because the dose may not be blocking the dope the first 3 days on that dose doesn't mean it won't block it a few days later once it builds up in you, so just wait it out before deciding do increase the dose.

Yes. This. Every day you continue to take your dose, the methadone builds up in your system more and more. The doses stack on top of each other.

I was on enough too and after a month or so the premature "wearing off" of the methadone stops and your doses start to pile up and hold longer as he said, when your body gets used to it.

This is what I said exactly. I think were all in agreement:
