Codeine vs. Cannabis?

I will be getting some codeine soon. This will be my first time trying opiods (Other then when I got Hydrocodne pills for my wisdom teeth removal), and I have no tolerance to opiods. I'm wondering whether you guys would prefer Codeine or Cannabis? Which is more euphoric/makes you feel good? Also, what is a good dose of Codeine for someone with no tolerance? I want to really feel it, without OD'ing of course.

Forgot to mention, I have heard that Codeine and Cannabis highs feel similar, which is why I wanted to hear all of yours opinions on which is better.

This is like comparing apples with grilled cheese, codeine feels nothing like weed IMO. Expect similar effects to what hydro gave you only less euphoria, stronger histamine release (itches), and a shorter duration. Codeine is more subtle but also more euphoric while weed is well... weed, stronger effects on thoughts, more lazy/sedating, and overall more stoning.

Both these drugs are from different classes and affect different parts of the brain, so it would be unfair (and not HR.lol) to compare them.
A good starter dose would be 60-120mg but if they have apap in them then you will need to do a cold water extraction to separate the codeine from the apap and protect your liver.
Type cwe into the search engine and yoy will get some good threads will full instructions.

What?!

That's about as likely as me saying that vodka feels similar to LSD. Don't take advice from that individual too seriously.

Haha! True... even apples and oranges are too close to be a useful analogy in this case.

Also agree with Bunge above in suggesting that around 60 to 120mg is a pretty safe bet. There's every chance that you'll require more to get a really noticeable effect, but codeine causes quite a lot of side-effects for non-tolerant people, so stay within the safe range. Also, this is assuming you're doing a Cold Water Extraction (CWE). Because taking 120mg worth of codeine-containing pills which also have acetaminopine/paracetamol or ibuprofen would be very nasty to your vital organs - especially if the pills are the typical OTC variety with something like 10mg codeine + 500mg APAP.

Codeine produces like a really relaxed, decently euphoric, dreamy high in higher doses. But it doesn't last long :(

Codeine is one of the weakest opiates in the family. They're both dopamine highs but IMO weed is way more euphoric. I only ever used codeine to add on to my weed highs. And that was in 300mg doses. If I don't take 300mg then I don't feel fart nor shit. It's very weak. If you were to take codeine alone you'd realize how weak it is. Do it with weed if you're looking for great euphoria.

codeine is more subtle, euphoric and has less of a body load than weed does. If you want to nodd than a 120-200mg dose is sufficient, 200mg can cause a lot of nausea, itching or feeling like you will stop breathing at times. 150mg is more reasonable but make sure you use it at a lower dose(30mg-90mg) first to see how you react and to make sure you don't have an allergy to codeine.

Even though it is a weak opiate, it can still be overwhelming when you have little to no tolerance and can still cause withdrawal with extended use. Because it is OTC in many areas it can be easier to get caught up in a long term addiction that can affect your organs such as your liver/kidneys/heart because of the APAP/tylenol/caffeine(in canada) if you abuse it to much. Make sure to do a CWE,however a CWE still has some APAP/Ibuprofen/aspirin/caffeine in it!

Codeine is better for people who get anxiety/paranoia easily from weed and lets you function a bit better without appearing as stoned/sketchy. It is much more euphoric however weed is safer, easier to manage and can be cheaper for some people.

Do not mix codeine with DXM btw it does not go together and can be really dangerous.

DXM is one of the most popularly used substances to potentiate codeine with. They go very well together if you know what you're doing.

Where did you hear that the two don't go together? How can it be dangerous?

I might be answering my own question here, but for anyone who doesn't know this: a small dose (20-40mg of dextromethorphan taken around fifteen to twenty minutes before taking codeine can make the codeine experience feel stronger and 'smoother' by reducing some nausea and histamine responses.

Some people take DXM to 'trip', and in this case they take large amounts, anywhere from 300mg to 1,000mg. This is a large amount of DXM. Many, many times over the therapeutic dose. If this is what you, Potential, are talking about: combining codeine and large amounts of DXM then yes, that would be less than ideal. In fact, taking large amounts of DXM by itself requires lots of reasearch to ensure the right syrup formulation is bought (if you're buying cough syrup), and that you're not taking other medications which are contraindicated with DXM.

You're trying to compare two drugs that really have little in common.

Cannabis is a sub-psychedelic with kind of a depressent nature but not really.

Codeine is an opiate analgesic depressent they have very little in common other than potentially both being good sleep aids.

Do you think that if I use Codeine 1-2 times per week I will notice withdrawal symptoms? Also, how fast will my tolerance go up if I use it this much?

Yes I was referring to recreational DXM, a small amount of DXM may be ok but personally I do not have experience with low dose DXM and opiate potentiation.

probably not as long as use is within reason.

many people start as weekend warriors and then start using it more often with excuses like:

it helps my anxiety
it helps me sleep
I'm using it for pain(when something like NSAID's would work just as well)
I'm only using it once a day so it shouldn't be a problem
Just one week of binging and I'll stop
I can quit anytime I want or I'll quit tomorrow

It is better not to use it if possible, Opiates offer a pleasant high that is suitable for many environments and it becomes easy to start looking for excuses to use them ( commuting to school, falling asleep, family parties, etc) and it becomes easy to fall into a routine and habitual use.

No one starts a drug with the intention of become an addict, but it becomes easy to become fond and start chasing the high of the early days.

with weekend use tolerance shouldnt be an issue, but you have to draw a line at a dosage and say "I can't go above this much" or you'll keep pushing the bar and wanting to get higher and higher and not want to come down. You have to put your foot down at a point so you don't push the bar to high so that you start looking for stronger drugs to experience the same effects.

100mg becomes 150mg 1-2X week
150mg becomes 200mg 1-2X week (here is where I would stop)
200mg becomes 150mg 2X day 1-2X week
200mg becomes 150mg 2X day 2-3X week

at some point you have to stop and look at your drug use so that it doesn't get out of hand financially, healthwise or so that it doesn't interfere with who you are, drugs are one aspect of life that should enhance an activity, not become an activity/a chore.

tolerance does not grow very quickly with occasional use, but a high will vary depending on your mood, setting, stomach fullness, enzyme level and other drugs used( a little bit of weed will be good for synergy, too much and it can cloud the high and become less euphoric.

Setting is most important, it helps to lie down to reduce nausea and be comfortable a sofa or a bed is my choice for dem opiate dreams.

What is a good thing to do while under the influence of Codeine? I'm guessing that watching TV or playing video games would be a good idea. And what are these opiate dreams people talk about? Also, what is a good dose for my first time? I really want to feel it but without danger of OD'ing or having a bad trip.

Oh yeah video games, I can't even play them sober anymore. I've barely touched my PS3 since I stopped using H like 4 weeks ago, I am on Suboxone. Sucks too because I bought like 2 new games and 2 older, used games right before I had to stop the H and start the Subs. I started GTA V the week before quitting H and kept playing for about another week after but it lost its appeal to me, along with any games in general. Now I haven't played anything else since I got the new NHL game which I usually play online religiously, plus I got 2 cheap used games I didn't even touch, Bioshock 1 and Uncharted 2. I so would like to do some dope and just play some vids for hours. Damn anhedonia. Damn hair drug tests for jobs.

Weed never made me feel good, although its a great aphrodisiac.......codeine definitely made me feel good & chill out more w/o the anxiety that comes from weed.

things that I've enjoyed doing:

lying on the couch, eyes closed with music playing and daydreaming(you know, like in school)
Reading a good book, one that is easy to follow
Surfing BL or other internet forums
Video games are ok, but they make time go by to quickly and it feels like a short lived high
Talking to people
Watching TV is a fav of my uncle who always nods off while watching cricket hahaha, movies are nice too
As long as it's somthing slow, chill mellow, codeine will blend in alright.
~180mg is a good starting dose if you know you aren't allergic/have high level of enzymes(ie, you've used at least 30mg and nothing bad happened) enough to feel it nicely but not have to much itching although codeine is an itchy drug.
