Scagnattie I'm curious how long you've been usin for

About 12 years now, something like that. I started very young on account of very negative friendships with older people, and the fact that I thought I was just too cool for school. I had a very glamorized view on H and made the biggest mistake of my life ever trying it.

Did you seek it out? Or did it just find its way to you?

^^

Well, I had wanted to do it for a while but had no clue where to get it, so I just kept fantasizing about it. Then one night I was at a local coffee shop and I met these two guys in their 20's. They looked kinda punk and grungy, same look I had at the time, so we started talking and I thought they were the coolest guys on the planet. Got into the drug topic somehow, they mentioned they were heroin addicts, but were looking for ketamine. Well, at that time I had a good lock on K from a friend, so I just flat out said, "I'll get you some K if you get me some smack" (that's what everyone called it back then). So that was that.

Couple days later, I followed through. And they followed through. Snorted H for the first time in the front seat of one of their piece of shit cars and never looked back. I asked them for a needle 3 months later.

I kinda had the same glamorized view on dope and like a fucking dumb ass I looked for if and asked for it. The first night I did way too much and ended up puking all night and passed out on the bathroom floor. I went out and looked for it again because I was smoking so much weed that it did nothing for me and I was really depressed for a lot of different reasons. A rehab and some clean time here I am. What age did you start 16? I started at 17 to think that I either have to be a junky or be clean and think about dope all the time for life makes me wanna get high right now lol

yea, thats him. dude, you think any of us had dope issues, you gotta realize this guy had enough cash to go around and then some. so his habit was sky rocketed. his father was a dope fiend as well and he fed his father the same dope and the father kept him w/ the habit as well; bad part is, Layne OD'd and the father is still alive and well today living off the NAME of a man who was ONCE THE BEST there was. just goes to show you how drugs diminish you.

this is him during unplugged and you can see how lost he is in his eyes and how gone he was. still belted that set out like a champ tho.

Whenever I watch that unplugged performance and see how skinny, pale, and unhealthy he looks, as well as hearing the sound of defeat and hopelessness in his voice, I can't help but cringe at the thought of him carrying on that way for another 5-6 years before eventually overdosing. That was a great set though, and he left it all out on the stage that day.

Did anybody see Mike Starr when he was on 'Celebrity Rehab' a little while before he died? Dr. Drew doesn't know what he's doing, and I think he's partially responsible for Mikes death. He made him kick methadone right away there mad then he died of an Opana overdose a few months later. He should have been allowed to slowly taper off the methadone rather than having to kick it fast which had him puking on camera from the withdrawals.

He was one of four celebs to die after being on that show in the 6 short seasons it was on. Another fucked up thing from that show was that he had a patient [Heidi Fleiss] come off of Xanax way too fast, and they got her on camera having a seizure from it. The best though was when they caught Steven Adler nodding his face off in there after smoking some tar. He was nodding like no other! Here is the link, and it's the mobile link but hopefully everyone can get to it because it's quite the scene.

I loved the AIC unplugged set. It was hilarious when Staley messed up the lyrics to Sludge Factory. Hah. He just yelled, "Fuck".

But, when they finally got it right, it was epic. I like the unplugged version of that song 10x better than the album version.

AIC has helped me/made me/been by me through it all. sometimes I wonder if I used cuz of AIC; then other times I listen and watch and it keeps me sane and sober just seeing how bad it hurt another. watching Layne during Unplugged is great; he is so fucking jammed and when those sunglasses come off his eyes just roll in the back of his head. he's nodding type but still has the passion and personality for that session. his vocals were great; his mistakes were NOTHING. actually, they were funny cuz they are coming off a 3 year hiatus (although Layne did Mad Season a year earlier). if you guys like Layne and AIC then check out Mad Season. top 2 songs - I dont know anything and river of deceit.

long live Layne.

Do you have any idea how many musicians have used heroin? AIC is just the most incredibly blatant one that every generic person I've ever met in rehab and detox for the past 15 years has been a fanboy of.....I like them too, but I personally more prefer lyrics that don't pretty come right out and say "Hey guys, I'm on heroin"....I prefer a little more subtlety. I'm not hating on anyone but BBT who keeps posting about this, but it's the biggest cliche in the entire world.

the whole 90's grunge scene used; only 2 out of original 4 have used hard; both are dead being Mike and Layne. you can say its cliche but they have a fucking album based on the used of dope; so dope fiends will kinda fell/understand the verbiage throughout. its takes one to know one, get it? just like fucking black rappers listen to that money, cars, hoes shit. even tho they have none; they want that so they listen, they pretend to relate. but this music is real, its true emotion, problems, just being openly spoken about in tracks. also, SO MANY OF THESE TRACKS are not what they seem; it's Jerry writing about others but people think it's all about Layne. I know the Seattle grunge scene well; have always loved AIC, Mad Season and Soundgarden coming out of those days. Nirvana and Pearl Jam, another big 2, were not my style.

"every generic person". ha. you are one of those. you are in rehab w/ those other generic moron who cannot help themselves when it comes to dope. but you listen to a diff bang makes you the cool bunch? legit the dumbest statement I've heard on here yet. I am a huge Beatles fan; does that make me a generic moron, too? we all know the Beatles did shrooms/acid, so am I a moron for ever using shrooms or acid? just cuz the band? I've never seen a post about AIC on here once, fool.

BlueHues - sometimes I give you credit for the knowledge and what you've been through, how living, traveling, etc. then I see shit like this and it makes me think you are a complete moron. one of those older folk in rehabs who feel a step above the rest but yet are there for the same reasons and have the same problems.

13 years ago, huh!? K was BIG in NY in that time. K has always been big in the city. 13 years ago I was going to NYC and going to Sound Factory (you remember that club?) w/ Jonathan Peters and doing my E, K and G combo's. those were some whacky times. I had 80's/opiates w/ me but selling and moving to pay for my party favors; also got heavy into those 80's around same time before going away in 04. dude, this is back when I was 18. crazy to think what was being done and what has happened over the years, huh? ha. 13 fucking years have passed.

^^

Yeah time flies, man. So many years just blend together, it's so hard to even remember what events happened in what years, etc.

I honestly don't think I've heard any AIC. Artists that come to mind when I think heroin are cliche ones though. Bradley from Sublime. Cobain... you know. I mostly like 90s and underground rap, but I also like alternative and shit. I'm pretty much open to whatever, but me and country don't click for the most part.

Never heard any AIC? Man, you need to get on youtube stat. Hah.

^ will do man haha. Like I said I'm not picky when it comes most music I've found stuff I like from all different genres.

But yea as far as AIC goes, got any recommendations?

Country has changed drastically. It's no longer about your dying dog or some woman that broke your heart.

I had like 5 people like that in my detox , it's just like shut the fuck up you piece of shit the only thing you accomplished in using longer is wasting more of your life

Sure do. Here's a small list of my favorite AiC songs, in order -

1. Nutshell
2. Rooster
3. Angry Chair
4. Down in A hole

Give them a listen & tell me what you think. :)

^^ down in a hole is PERFECT for all of us. ALL of those are on Unplugged; and the Unplugged version is more fitting for each.

EDIT - just started listening - even not high its good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oRQgvqFxYc

but I remember the days nodding to this as well; not a good memory to have.

I am not saying I am a young gun myself; just turned 31 few months ago. last time in rehab (REHAB, not psych ward) there were more youngins (18-24). same thing I did at that age as well. but even at 31 I talk to the younger crowd, I remember those days, went through the same, can relate, and sometimes I get scared cuz some are worse off than where/what I was.

the 28-38 crowd never an issue really.

then you get that 40+ crowd who seem to think they are the higher god. you may only get one of 2 of these people but you get them and it bothers me. as if they shouldnt be in the same place as the rest of these "junkies/kids". they are too "old" for this and have been through SO MUCH and the youngins have NO IDEA therefore they are the GOD of the place; but dude, us older folk, even me, are the bigger fuck ups since we are STILL THERE and we are OLDER THAN THE YOUNGINS! so by no means do I give that attitude when I get stuck in rehab.

psych ward total different story; thats why it changed my life. there were a couple youngins; one girl even 20 and from same hometown. she knew of my name but I had no idea who she was (I am a popular junkie, ha). but for the most part people were 30-60 w/ problems we'd never think of. these are life altering problems that dont even give them the chance to live a "normal" life. im happy I went. day 1 I was pissed as fuck but as time went on my eyes opened and some nurses there thought I was there to "help out" and not even a patient. ha. meanwhile I am taking 24MG bupe to start to keep w/ my addiction. anyway, I was thought of as "help" on week 2, so that was only the 16MG point. just did 4MG a half hour ago; this will be day 2. let's see!
