The gist of it is that way back when BL was still pretty much a small ecstasy forum they decided they needed a place for off-topic chit-chat. Given the rest of the fledgling BL was drug talk it was decided there should be NDTITL to keep it separate - a place to get away from talking about drugs where people could get to know each other better. IJ would've explained that a lot better (and no doubt more accurately) and perhaps provided references and stuff (okay, maybe not the latter) but this will have to suffice in his absence. I'm afraid.

Ahhh, cheers for that. It's like a gibberings thread, only they've made it ten times more tedious by making threads that dont really require their own thread due to being so innane.

I 100% agree about the NDTITL rule ... that would be impossible to moderate in that environment ... it's relaxed a little on that score atm though .. mainly posters just commenting on what theyre taking rather than questions about drugs tho.

When you compare EADD with American bit you're forgetting that most of the forums are American based / seem to have more Americans that people from other nationalities so really we can't really compare like that. When I come here I do not feel intimidating or like I'm going to get punished for doing the slightest thing wrong. I feel this section is kewl n non-judgemental n that's why I come here.

yes and no, i guess this place is a simillar reflection of real life, in a kind of you get what you give kind of way, and do unto others and all that, sometimes things can get ugly im afraid, at other times there is a great community spirit and vibe, and it can be very supportive, after a while you get to know all the different characters here. The other subforums like other drugs can be so massive with so many posters that it can feel a bit anonymous over there, though thats not to say it lacks good people, it certainly doesnt.

That sounds about right to me. It's clearly not a place for drug info or - heaven forfend - HR advice (8(). It was when they've had especially over-zealous mods that dish out infractions simply for mentioning drugs in there that got on my tits. It is good to have a forum that's not just another drug/support forum (even if it is dire) but one of the reasons I never really tried too hard to get the hang of the place was I don't like having to censor myself. It's not that I must talk about drugs constantly so much as that I don't like being told off simply for making a passing reference. That and it's just not especially pleasant, amusing or interesting anyway.
 
The Lounge looks like puberty to me, but I believe there are post-pubic people posting in the lounge; some people can stretch puberty out for a long time. I think I made mine last a bit longer than it should have. Puberty is fine, most of us had some and I think most of us still have some. I look back on my pubic years with a mixture of nostalgia and shame.

I still have the odd pubic moment :sus:

EAdd is more like the retirement home where people complain a lot about the cold then eventually die.

The women are infinitely better looking in the lounge too.

Aus social used to be great. Plenty of banter about the massive drug fueled meet ups every Monday after the weekend. I often joke the only reason I joined BL was to source drugs but it's not far from the mark. The Melbourne BL crew was a one stop shop for debortury. The parties I attended during that time will make at least 5 chapters in my eventual autobiography. Then the inbreeding started and a few marriages broke up and now days it is full of junkies who filter OTC pills through billabong t shirts.

the funny thing (to me) is that eadd regulars look at the lounge from a superior place and think it's terrible. lounge regulars look at eadd from a superior place and think it's terrible. many people who are unfamiliar with either think they're pretty much the same :)

Whos going wrong where then?

If I remember rightly to some poll we did, there were just as many if not more 18-25s then 25s+ it came out pretty even anyway.

I totally agree on the similarities thing - it's probably why EADD and Teh Lounge traditionally don't get on so well. Kinda like sibling rivalry or summat. Fact remains that Teh Lounge is mind-numbing whilst EADD is the tits ;)
