Prepping for banging heroin hours prior?

I feel like as a regular heroin user I should know this. But when I'm at home with nothing to do, I sometimes like to prepare a rig or two for banging when I want to use it next. I keep them in a clean place and sanitize the needle very well right before use. It works well for me. But when I have friends over, they insist on filling an entire new rig with different heroin. They don't say why but they refuse to use the rigs I already prepared. Is there some sort of danger to this?

Its a really good rule to always prepare your own rig. In a lot of junky circles and with a lot of junkies its a rule we never break. There are few good reasons around it. First if you always load your own nails then you know they are (4 sure) sterile or at least your own, if you choose to not follow harm reduction and use rigs twice. Second, you know how much is in the dose and this lessens the chance of OD.

If people are going to reuse their syringes then it is always a good idea to mark them and an easy way to do this is to scratch a specific portion of the CC labeling and always scratch of the same numbers and dont use the numbers that other ivers you use around. This provides some protection from accidentally grabbing and using someone elses gear.. but shit needles are dirt cheap so always use a new one.

I never slid a syringe that I didn't at least see loaded and rarely even did that.. only when it was a brand new cooker and brand new rigs and I watched the whole thing go down.

Sorry if I was unclear but I mean for me specifically. Is there any danger in letting a rig sit for awhile after loading it?

?

But yes there are a few things. Whenever you add water to a system (in this case a shot) you are creating a suitable living environment for microorganisms. Think of cereal, if its left dry it will last forever but if we add water to it it will go bad quick if left out. So the longer you allow these organisms to reproduce and thrive thrive then the more danger you may put yourself in. Also there is always the chance that a pre loaded syringe will end up plugging the needle and then it will cause hassles. Overall these dangers are relatively small and if you choose to do this then I would not use them after significant periods. I have never done this method regularly but if it doesn't mess the shot you may consider putting them in the refrigerator. But maybe another Blue Lighter has info on this. If you do place them in the fridge then please use a clean zip lock to prevent cross contamination in the there.

Yeah I worry about bacteria. I've never let them sit for more than a few hours so I don't have concerns so far. Seems less risky to just do it on the spot.

No actually I think this is good in many cases, and this is my own opinion, cases in the us with city, not well water of course, I think this is a good idea, the chlorination is in there to kill micro organisms and will provide protection IMO. It is easy to access you drink water testing results in the us through a computer.

Well met to another northerner=D

yeah! Science bitch!

Id just like to add that Captain Heroin did a fantastic thread last year on how to make 'bacterio-static' water.
This is a sterile I.V solution that can be stored for a fair amount of time and significantly lowers cross contamination risks (obviously usual rules regarding not sharing rigs etc still apply.)
Pop it in the search engine and have a read, I think you will be glad you did.lol

as long as they get used within 24 hrs or so, i've always assumed (apparently correctly) that pre-setup syringes (we're talking water, not heroin/h2o solution that one intends to inject) stay pretty clean. Like someone else said, I always figured that with the inevitable rise in potential proximity-related fuckups and the almost exponential manner in which those fuckups increase as more addicts join in, using alone is always preferable... but, for those times when circumstances demand that one pretend to be social, marking your works (i like to wrap part of the syriinge with electrical tape) is never a bad way to go...
