shes done well for herself really. Maybe she wasnt quite the serious artiste she seemed to consider herself to be, but thats being harsh on her. She's got / did have a nice voice and sang some good tunes. No idea if she wrote them herself or not. I liked Complicated though Im fairly sure you'll shudder at the thought.

Thats the 2nd time ive noticed you appreciate what would be called 'commercial music', after 'we dont talk anymore' being the first one. Its still a rare event but im pleased it does happen, and you're not allways just lsitening to your gloomy racket called Killing Joke. :D

Gloomy racket? Hahahahaha. =D

I'm not constantly stuck in a world of gloom, you know! Only 99% of the time.

I'm sure that Ms. Lavigne's presence on screen made me pay more attention to her 'art' than I would otherwise have done. Though I was convinced at the time that she was more than four years younger than me...

Lennon - give peace a chance
Beatles - the fool on the hill
Barrett - jugband blues

Next

Ahhhh! Everyone iv spoke to lately is banging on about Sid! Sure he was 'ok' but by no means incredible!? And let's all be honest here, Floyd were nothing untill Gilmore joined!

Floyd were an entirely different kind of band when Syd was the frontman. They were more pop / r'n'b with an experimental edge, whereas they went more prog rock after Syd had left.

There's no use even making a comparison. Though I'm much more likely to get on with someone who prefers the Syd era. Cos I'm cool like that.

Anyway, here's a gem from Iggy:

I love girls
They're all over this world
Some have beautiful shapes
I wanna live to be ninety-eight

You tell 'em, Ig!

Iggy might just be the man to defy all logical and medical reason and go on to live to be 98. I mean he still keeps himself in great shape, hes bulit like Bruce Lee or something. Its hard to imagine a 98 year old Iggy Pop, but it would be wonderful if he reached that age with his faculties and health intact.

Pixies - Hey

Hey
Been trying to meet you
Hey
Must be a devil between us
Or whores in my head
Whores at the door
Whores in my bed
But hey
Where have you been?
If you go, i will surely die
We're chained

'Uh' said the man to the lady
'Uh' said the lady to the man she adored
And the whores like a choir
Go 'uh' all night
And mary ain't you tired of this?
Uh
Is
The
Sound
That the mother makes when the baby breaks
We're chained

Pixies - Gouge Away

Gouge away
You can gouge away
Stay all day If you want to
Missy aggravation
Some sacred questions
You stroke my locks
Some marijuana If you got some
Gouge away You can gouge away
Stay all day If you want to

Sleeping on your belly
You break my arms
You spoon my eyes
Been rubbing a bad charm With holy fingers
Gouge away
You can gouge away
Stay all day If you want to

Chained to the pillars
A three day party
I break the walls
And kill us all With holy fingers
Gouge away You can gouge away
Stay all day If you want to

The The – Heartland

Beneath the old iron bridges, across the Victorian parks
And all the frightened people running home before dark
Past the Saturday morning cinema that lies crumbling to the ground
And the piss stinking shopping center in the new side of town
I've come to smell the seasons change and watch the city
As the sun goes down again

Here comes another winter of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter waitin' for utopia
Waitin' for hell to freeze over

This is the land where nothing changes
The land of red buses and blue blooded babies
This is the place, where pensioners are raped
And the hearts are being cut from the welfare state
Let the poor drink the milk while the rich eat the honey
Let the bums count their blessings while they count the money

So many people can't express what's on their minds
Nobody knows them and nobody ever will
Until their backs are broken and their dreams are stolen
And they can't get what they want then they're gonna get angry

Well it ain't written in the papers, but it's written on the walls
The way this country is divided to fall
So the cranes are moving on the skyline
Trying to knock down this town

But the stains on the heartland, can never be removed
From this country that's sick, sad, and confused

Here comes another winter of long shadows and high hopes
Here comes another winter waitin' for utopia
Waitin' for hell to freeze over

The ammunition's being passed and the lords been praised
But the wars on the televisions will never be explained
All the bankers gettin' sweaty beneath their white collars
As the pound in our pocket turns into a dollar

i love your pixies choices, strange thing with them that the lyrics are one of the last things i notice with them, as they are often quite hard to make out. I just get off on the psychoticness off their music mainly. But youve posted some fine examples of how good their lyrics are too. I love the tunes, the lyrics of "Hey" are easy to make out.

Some teen girls made a home video of themselves fooling around and miming allong to "hey". I think at one point it was the most viewed and most popular video clip on youtube.

this is it, they did a fine job. 33,842,467 views compared to the official video for the track which has 3,911,373. The pixies should do a deal with them, they captured it perfectly. =D It was a phenonemon how they got such a massive number of hits, maybe the search terms 'teen' 'girls' 'bedroom' had something to do with it. :sus:

I love this track so much.

"I Predict A Riot"

Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never of happened to Smeaton
An old leodensian
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I tried to get to my taxi
The man in a tracksuit attacks me
He said that he saw it before me
And wants to get things a bit gory
Girls scrabble round with no clothes on
To borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen
they're not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
Watching the people get lairy
It's not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
It's not very sensible
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
And if there's anybody left in here
That doesn't want to be out there
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

I don't know this song or when it was released but the lyrics could have been written today as they are describing how life is nowadays.

It's a sin

When I look back upon my life
it's always with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

At school they taught me how to be
so pure in thought and word and deed
They didn't quite succeed
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

Father forgive me
I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf
then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me
I didn't believe it
Father you fought me
'cause I didn't care
and I still don't understand

So I look back upon my life
forever with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
no matter when or where or who
has one thing in common too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to I
It's a sin

this was on the movie Bronson. I had never noticed what a dramatic or clever tune this was before. The Pet Shop Boys really were pretty cool and smart guys.
