@Verso- that's how it was for me during the first month of going to the MMT clinic. I was on an avg. dose, 50mg cherry juice. It was CRUCIAL the dope had to be FIRE, and it was FIRE; beige, sandy-white chunks of high-grade No.4 diacetylmorphine. It was also critical that the shot would be no less than a quarter gram; depending on the dope I'd put ~0.35g in my shot and it would rush right on through my MMT dose, and the methadone + legs from the heroin = one helluva nod :)

Took some omeprazole 2 hrs before I drank my 70mg methadose. Got back to the house, 40mg zolpidem IV and made a cocktail of Coke and Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey 90 prf, an exquisite brand of bourbon my pops bought because it's fucking expensive. A smooth bourbon with a complex of flavors: hints of vanilla, honey, and smokey finish. Usually not much of a drinker, but I love my bourbon whiskeys and Ciroc.
 
100mgs oxy and 130mgs china white heroin IV, feeling pretty fantastic, as a matter of fact. I love opiates sooo much. Boutta step outside for a smoke.
 
Got a little too tweaked last night and did a bunch of Xanax to fall asleep, and it actually worked out way better than expected.

Right now: weeded, coffee, cigs, and .5 xanax

You just made an analogy that I can definitely relate to, verso. I wasn't passing judgement or anything btw, if that's what it sounded like. Being on maintenance is a different thing than copping & gettin' high--opinions differ on this, that's mine though--and it's way better than having to wake up unsure of whether or not you're gonna be sick that day! Either route you choose to go, it's good to be aware of these things. Good luck with it, whatever "it" may be :)

I didn't think that you were passing judgement, so no worries, and thank you for wishing me well :)

But, alas, we did get high today. It's kind of funny because, in our two year long career of being drug addicts, the scam we pulled today was probably our most clever.

Basically, after working for this one particular grocery store chain for a number of years, the girlfriend knows that each store keeps a lost and found drawer where nothing ever gets thrown away -- lots and lots of jewelry, sometimes nice jewelry, gold and silver and such. So, we went around to a couple of stores and she simply walked in, asked if they had found her gold necklace, and uh... yeah, you see where this is going. We made a nice little haul... lol

So, yeah, we were able to come up with money for lunch, gas, and a few bags of course. Not a bad day...

I got dosed today, a low dose of methadone, but then came up with enough money for a couple of bags. I shot a bag (which I know is dangerous to do when you're taking a low dose of methadone, so I don't advise it), and now I've got a pretty decent nod going on.

But I'm becoming less interested in getting high. I think that, now that I'm taking methadone, my heroin use will eventually just peter out... so, we'll see what happens.

I know I'm late to respond, but being void of most social graces, let alone forum etiquette..

I was the same way when I first started MMT, it'll pass. At first I was like, "fuck yeah, now I can use smack and not worry about getting sick" then I realized I was only risking my life to waste heroin, time and money. Plus the Methadone grows on you, eventually I was almost as satisfied with the methadone as I was the heroin/oxy.

What you need to be real careful about is not getting addicted to benzos. I saw that happen to SO many people at my clinic, myself included. Essentially your methadone dose + some bars or pins will get you off the same way dope did, maybe better. But you'll only be fucking yourself in the end. You'll run out of benzos, up your methadone dose to compensate, repeat cycle a few times and you're stuck on 195mg/day like I was for 5 years.

edit: how high am I? not quite enough. Wondering if I have time to hit a quick cloud of crys b4 the family gets home. Fuck it, I am.

edit 2.0: mother-fucking lighter died on me. One dec cloud and a few baby tokes... ahh well, that means I have something to wake up to tomorrow.

Thank you for cautioning me. I would actually like to be put back onto a benzodiazepine once again, something like clonazepam, as my anxiety has grown more severe over the years -- although how much of my anxiety is related to my drug use, well, who really knows...

I already like methadone much more than I ever did suboxone, and while I do not feel the buzz or glow that others say they sometimes feel with methadone, my withdrawal symptoms are taken away completely, as in, not a chill, a sneeze, or so much as a bead of sweat, and, similarly, the methadone takes away my cravings to use -- something that the suboxone did not do for me, unfortunately. I'm still using, of course, but it's not something that I'm pursuing so aggressively as before.

odd, i had the exact opposite reaction: while methadone took away withdrawal, it did virtually nothing to help my cravings, but actually worsened it, while subutex/suboxone took my cravings away completely, although tbh i took the dosing into my own hands, dosing .1-2mcg/2x every day IV, sooo...
 
Feelin chil off alpraz and vaped kief. Just finished off the alpraz, good riddance, I get way to overzealous with my money on benzos, blew 100$ on whip its yesterday, da fuq? #benzo problems

Encouraging stuff. Thinking of going on high dose done for pain. Oxy can be too hard a beast to tame sometimes. Just woke up, boutta take some oxies.
 
Split my last huge puddle of crystal meth with a friend. Then drank a mmj almond milk edible, ate 3mg alprazolam and 1mg clonazepam with a pint of Sierra Nevada IPA. Smoked a few bowls of sour grapes (I think) and finishing a Shock Top I probably didn't need.
 
Verso, with the whole MMT thing, I was on 50mg and during the first couple weeks I was still shooting dope (but it would take at least 0.3g to break thru), but as Blind Melon said you eventually, almost get as satisfied with methadone as the previous opioids used, or maybe it just takes away the cravings. So my IV heroin use definitely diminished. I moved up to 70mg and dope is COMPLETELY useless to me at this dose.

Maybe you should talk to your MMT doc about upping your dose? if ya' feel the need to of course. I definitely get a nice little euphoric buzz and sometimes I can't help but nod the fuck out some days haha, especially with the right potentiators (tagament, promethazine, and benzos, being my favorite). But, like Blind Melon also said, watch out for the benzos while on MMT... mad OD's with that cocktail, but a good majority of the people at my clinic love it, including myself.

Waiting on a ride to get drink my 70mg and hopefully one of my buddies will be there with some benzos or at least some phenergans. Then getting some NYC Sour D.
