Caught this, was a great show.
I had heard of them before but never knew much on them till I saw this, well worth catching it on the I-player if people didn't see it.

1) The Great Hip Hop Hoax 10pm
Californian hip-hop duo Silibil n' Brains were going to be massive. No one knew the pair were really Scottish, with fake American accents and made up identities. When their promising Scottish rap act was branded 'the rapping Proclaimers', friends Billy and Gavin reinvented themselves as LA homeboys.
The lie was their golden ticket to a dream life. With confessions from the scammers, insight from the music execs they duped and doodle reconstructions, this film charts the rollercoaster story of the highs of the scam and the lows of madness and the personal toll the deception took.

2) 23.30 Public Enemy: Prophets of Rage
In the late 1980s Public Enemy were the biggest rap group on the planet. Their mission: to raise the consciousness of a generation. With a rebellious attitude to match their militant image they sold millions of records preaching pro-black politics to fans of all races, all done through a groundbreaking wall of noise that changed the sound of hip hop. White, middle Americans were outraged, but their kids loved it

Yeah, I was gonna post the same thing a few weeks back actually (about Jacks). He's a Geordie, I was gobsmacked when NB told me
His accent has been really decent as a yank, but at the beginning of this series he's kept cracking on with a half irish slant off and on. Seems to be back on track now tho.

He just turned down the role of Christian Grey for the new 50 Shades adaption too .. accepted it and then declined .. it's a fucking huge prominent role, so I take it the screenplay must be a heap of shit or something
 
It was a news story saying he'd turned down that role that told me he was a Geordie.

The book is a well known heap of shit so I can't imagine the screenplay was any good. He probably thought, quite rightly imo, that it could be potential career suicide. Forever known as that cunt from the shite 50 Shades movie.

I thought it was a really interesting story and I liked how they explained how the gang came about due to their countries upheaval and war.
Am just watching The Great Hip Hop Hoax at the moment.
Makes me laugh as the hiphop world is always so concerned about keeping things 'real'.

I had to laugh to at how everything is keeping it real, real fake I say.

I give 'em respect though, nobody wanted to give them a break so they played the system & nearly won too, I love to see the underdog or person that's been put down by the people in power come through & show them.
The guy that stayed in London though I feel has issues.
 
It shows that the guys were talented (enough to get signed) but were ignored purely because they weren't American.

Still much the same for Scottish rappers. English ones are starting to get a bit of respect but it seems to mainly be the shitty grime cunts that are breaking through rather than the proper talented MCs.
