Suboxone taper ROA?

Shooting up isn't a healthy thing to be doing; it puts you in a fairly bad place mentally- you're going to chemists to get needles, and needle exchanges. You're having to wear long sleeves to hide track marks. If your nearest and dearest see those marks, you'll have some explaining to do, and it will radically change their opinion of you. The whole point of bupe therapy is to achieve stability in your life-shooting up will hardly do this.

I injected bupe for two years; fact is it doesn't change the drugs half life. You peak within 30 seconds rather than two hours, so obviously the effects wear off slightly sooner.

No one said it was 'safe' to inject bupe or naloxone. The post you made prior was misinformation. The bupe doesn't override the naloxone, it gets to the receptors first which blocks the effects of the naloxone. (regardless of roa)

The whole point of suboxone is to STOP people injecting hence the naloxone. It's not misinformation at all.

Dopemegently - I agree totally. It is NOT safe n suboxone is NOT intended to IV. I think some posters are extremely irresponsible to suggest that this is ok. The nalaxone will block the opiate anyway. It's nice to see someone with a bit of sense.

^Plenty of people IV suboxone and have no ill effects from the naloxone. Most say it just has a slightly delayed onset compared to Subutex.

And of course IV is not healthy, I think the OP is fairly aware of this fact, his question had nothing to do with whether it is detrimental to your health to IV suboxone. Try answering the dude's questions rather than sitting here wasting time preaching about something he is probably well aware of. This reminds of of someone trying to ask a drug related question on Yahoo answers, nothing but irrelevant, judgmental responses and misinformation.

Excuse me. Just who the f*** are you to talk to me like that. This is a harm reduction site and i was pointing some things NOT JUST FOR THE OP but also FOR ANY LURKERS WHO MAY THINK THIS A GOOD IDEA AND END UP ODING OR DEAD!!!!! Sometimes its BENEFICIAL to address things rather they were in the question or not. So don't be having an attitude with me because I'm not going to tolerate it.

I guess you could be making a weak attempt at trolling. ( I did lol a bit)

If not..

Id recommend staying out of the 'other drugs' part of the forum, people actually try to provide accurate information here.

Sadly not the case.

You said the naloxone blocks the effects of the bupe, thats incorrect (misinformation).

have a nice day!

Naloxone aka Narcan can NOT be used in the case of Buprenorphine overdose because Bup binds much stronger to the opiate receptors. It binds so effectively that it is actually better then Narcan to save people from the overdose of other opiates but is has never been approved for this use and therefore most would tell you that you shouldn't. IMO if you see someone ODing and the only thing you can do is give them a Suboxone, it would be better then letting them die and the worst that can happen is you don't save them, which can't happen.

In my humble opinion I would just jump right off anything under 8mg a day.. accept the fact that you are going to feel a little reached for two weeks.. obtain the proper medications to assist with withdrawls.. also accept the fact that you will feel a little better each and every day for six or seven months after the acutes start to improve.. realize this is ok and accept this fact as a solid possibility .. make it through the next year and celebrate the amazing accomplishment and the new found freedom. In other words, draw that line in the sand, accept the fact that for months your not going to feel great.. deal with those months in the way that promotes the highest standard of living and peace but realize that it aint going to be rainbows and orgasms.. get through those months.. enjoy freedom. Good luck to you all<3

I suggest seeing a doctor n talking things through with them. I am sorry if I come off as preachy but I just want YOU---and anyone lurking to be safe, and to taper as safe as possible - so that you can RECOVER as healthily n safely as possible.

I'm sorry if I offended people. I was only trying to point out the safety issues as although the OP may be aware of them - some people who read this thread may not n so I felt that a responsible thing to do. As to answering the question is it worth doing a method that may give less intense withdrawal when it is not safe to do so. And as I have suggested to go see a doctor re a taper plan. Also look at the bupe mega thread on here. That's my answer. I'm not trying to 'preach' n I am sorry if it came across like that was what I was doing.
