First 12 inch dance tune a brought having seen Slipmat and Lime live at a a semi legal club in an old hat factory, still love it to this day especially the drum break

SL2 Way in my brain

My most recent hardcore vinyl purchase, heard it on a random DJ set and immediately remembered it from Dance Dance Revolution on the Dreamcast (I may have already posted this on the brimz/Dreamcast thread but fuck it).

Party Animals - Have You Ever Been Mellow

Absolute cheesy perfection.

Fucking hell that brings back memories.

"Have you ever been mellow just to see a star" (or something like that!)

When I was still in primary school I remembered one summer listening to Bonkers 1 tape that my cousin had on her walkman and loving it.

Was into buying rave taps from Rezerection, Magic Kingdom, Non Stop, Nose Bleed etc events for a few years and bought any Bonkers compilation that came out.

Tunes like Toytown, Forever Together, Love of my Life, Steamtrain, Party Time, Rainbow Islands etc.

Currently listening to ...

Seb - Rainbow Islands

I still have then vinyl:D...double postin such a tune is tot be commended, love they sounded great I'd not seen that DJ MC combo thing before and being small venue Lime was basically in the crowd.

I've listened to Rainbow Island, Together Forever, Toytown and now Love of my Life (one of my favourites at the time).

Who was Dr Who (the producer of Love of my Life) I'm guessing a big hardcore DJ under a pseudonym? Don't remember any other tracks from him / her.

I believe people like Hixxy are still producing and playing Happy Hardcore though not sure anyone listens to it?

It had a bit of a comeback about 10 years ago but then died out again.

They even started releasing bonkers albums and I had a couple and we'd listen to it when Ecto'd out our fucking nut. Was Hixxy, Sharky and Scottish legend Scott Brown (all his tracks sounded the same).

Even then they were still illegally ripping off sound bites from tracks. I remember there was a big legal battle and the record label got sued for allowing tracks with ripped off and non licensed samples being used...what the fuck were they thinking?

I stopped listening to happy hardcore shit.

Last tune I listened to was 'Bang - Shooting Star'.

I loved the Rezerection events :D - had some crazy, crazy times at them. Then as bigger harder music events started showing up with dedicated techno / Gabba areas I sort of changed venues.

I absolutely still enjoy listening to hardcore. Not exclusively but I still make time to rave out to some classics on a fairly regular basis.
