Ooh yeah I can imagine that being really nice - shame we just about finished the bottle the other night. Got to go to Munich at the weekend so may try and pick some more up in Duty free (Im going to try and dodge it though - couldn't be arsed to travel (still havent collected the dry cleaning after my last trip)

Spade get the Chang - Draft in cans. Was my fave drink - or try a Thaihito (like a Mojito but made with the local whiskey and lemongrass :D)
 
US craft beers for me tonight, albeit the well known , popular stuff, Sierra Nevada and blue moon.

Delicious!

^^^ Ginger Ale and Lime is AMAZING. More so with ice. This is the basis of the Moscow Mule, add vodka. Or GBL. But I drink G.A. & L. as a soft drink, so refreshing.


Currently just boring peppermint tea though.
 
Well - Ive been drinking Amstel all day. Moving to vodka now (mind you I was ill last night as I took a 'decongestant' that I bought over the counter in Thailand). Fuck know what it was but I was spinning for a few hours :D (thankfully bought three strips so will try it again at a later date :D).

Chang is vile tramp juice. Equivalent of drinking Tennants Super or Special Brew.

The only people that drink Chang out here is the poor farmers up north and tourists.

Bangkokians will mock you for drinking that filth. Regular Thai places don't even sell it.

Beer Leo or Singha all the way mate. Leo is my drink of choice as it's basically the same price as Chang but tastes 10x better and you won't get laughed at or scolded for drinking it.

If I'm not drinking beer I'll usually hit the whisky. Can buy a litre bottle of Johnny Walker Red Label for about £20 in a few of my local bars.

Anything you don't drink is kept, marked and put behind the bar for next time you come.

I take all my dates to the same pub and the litre bottle lasts about 5 dates. All you need to do is buy ice and mixers each time you go.

Bargain.

Anything you buy in a Thai pharmacy is probably not what they tell you it is.

The only pre-requisite for getting a pharmacy license out here is that you own a white coat and can find a green cross sign.

The 'valium' I bought is weird as fuck.

Does nothing at the time.

Won't cure hangovers.

Won't stop anxiety.

Won't help you sleep.

Doesn't even make you feel relaxed.

But the next day you're fucking mongoed even after one pill and can't function straight.

Legs don't work. Can't open your eyes. Can't think straight.

No wonder it was 40p for 10.

The Sideagra (Thai equivelent of viagra) is a joke.

Even says on the packet "Sideagra does not cause erections, it simply stimulates chemicals in your brain that may get you aroused".

Again no wonder it was £2 for 8 and viagra is £20 for 4.

I was drinking either Singha or Chang -the Chang Draught is really nice (yeah my be wife beater and the locals may laugh but it was piss cheap in the supermarkets and went nice with the Taro buns). Never bought any named Whiskey as the local stuff is so cheap and really strong/ nice - in the supermarkets it has a ring pull top and looks like a beer. Try it :) I was staying in the Kempinkski hotel - opposite that was Siam Paragon shopping mall. When you go into the mall from the hotel is a bar - they sell the Thai itos.

Yeah I found the Valium pretty strange this year - was about 80p a pill but so strange :D
 
You won't convince me on the Chang mate.

I refuse to drink it.

You know that the brewing process is so inaccurate that even though it says 6.5% on the bottle it can actually be anywhere up to 13% or as low as 3%.

Hence why sometimes you can drink 1 bottle and be pissed and other times neck 4 and feel sober.

And the Changovers are brutal.

What whisky were you on? No way was any of it nice. It's all vile firewater.

Nicest 'whisky' is Sangsom and it's not even whisky it's rum just no cunt out here knows any better.

Even says it on the bottle but try telling a Thai that it's rum and not whisky. :D

I live walking distance from there actually. Not far from the airport link.

I drink beer more than I drink anything even though I don't particularly like beer.

It's just easy to drink and usually cheap, you know?

I can pretty much drink any lager and not care because it all tastes pretty much the same.

Bar a few good ones like Brewdog 77 which are a lot tastier.

Yet San Miguel is one of those that I just cannot stand.

It tastes rank.

San Miguel and Bud.

Tastes like what I imagine stale tramp pish would taste like.
 
haha - Chang draught (from a can) was the nicest beer I had. Much smoother than Singh (which now you have pointed out does have that effect of nothing or fucked up. Thankfully didn't have a Changover but after 5 days of being on it we both got seriously ill. We were booked on a speed boat tour around the place and I had a face like an ass - full of motion sickness pills and immodium :D - wasn't a fun trip. Went to some 'floating city' Phang Na bay - was a shit hole and I wanted to leave about 10 seconds after arriving. Was filthy, and I felt like I was on a piss take tour - walking past peoples homes who were eating /chilling out / others were selling bits of drift wood or shells (well not literally but). Best part of the full tour - watching some Eagles hunting , then going snorkling and watching the fish. I hate the ocean / sea / beach - I have a stupid phobia of the water but felt obliged to go and feed the fish.
 
I'm much the same I hate water for some reason. Particularly open water and the sea.

And fish.

First time I went to the Great Barrier Reef in Aus I didn't go snorkelling because the thought terrified me.

Thankfully I manned the fuck up and ended up doing it 4 more times at different locations the next time I went.

One of the best things I've ever done.

Scary coming face to face with a shark though even if it is only a harmless reef shark. So they say anyway.

I went snorkelling in Thailand at Koh Pah Ngan and it was crap in comparison and badly organised.

When we were swimming around there were speed boats zooming about in between us just missing us.

Some Indian boy (wearing a fucking life jacket) who couldn't swim got in then freaked out and grabbed on to me and nearly drowned me.

Fucker.

Every trip I went on in Thailand was badly organised.

Did an elephant 'trek' that consisted of spending 5 minutes on a diseased and badly treated elephant going round a bit of scruffy grass.

Went to a monkey sanctury that consisted of 1 crazy monkey chained to a barbed wire fence.

Trekked to a water fall that had no water in it.

Visited Hill Tribes who clearly put this shit on for tourists and hated themselves and us for it.

Soon as we left they slipped the Nike Air max back on and took out their ipads.

Went to the Tiger Temples where I found monks feeding tigers valium claiming it was milk. Oh well at least the tiger didn't bite me.

I don't go on organised trips in Thailand anymore.

If I can't go somewhere my self then I don't bother.

I very rarely enjoy organised tours anyway so what's the point when they are so badly done?

To get back on topic....did you drink any snake blood wine or that shit with the scorpions in it?
