Every time I'm in the south, I find myself counting the days/hours/seconds until I can leave and go back to the good parts of America again.
 
I'm sticking around for school, and then as soon as I get my degree, I'm bouncing up to NYC.
The south does have some perks, but eventually the redneck comes out of anywhere besides big cities.

I mean, fuck, I'm faaaar from a Democrat, but NC just about disenfranchised probably 20% of registered voters in the past two weeks. Mostly poor minority & college-age Democratic voters. Government should encourage people to vote, not make voting more difficult than ever before.

Now there is one functional abortion centre in the state, and it has been recently shut down (AFAIK) to comply with newly-passed healthcare laws. This is after our governor pledged not to restrict abortions in NC before he was elected.

I can go on & on. NC used to be one of the most progressive southern states, but now the GOP controls everything, and they seem dead-set on removing all of our progress so far :\.

Haha hell yeah. New York is one of the few places I can see myself living in. I'm so done with small towns too. Everytime I'm in NYC I have a blast, then I come home & remember how much it sucks.
 
Yeah, seriously aha. Manhattan's cool, but it's super crowded & smells like shit lol.

I really cannot understand how people survive in small towns.
 
Yeah man fuck the south, but honestly I think that NYC is one of my least favorite places in America. Probably only second to LA. Don't get me wrong, I fit right in up here, but NY is just wayyy too much. I am not laid back in the least, but god damn NY is just wayyy too much. Every time I go there I feel like I have escaped when I leave. Last time I was there in Manhattan I literally had 2 wheels on the sidewalk at some points so I could blow red lights easier to get me the fuck out of there faster. Holy shit I hate that place. Everyone is an asshole, everyone's in such a fucking hurry, and it's fucking NY. TBH I was actually kind of excited when that place nearly sank into the ocean last october...
That's why I like Philly so much. Still clearly a northern city, makes a lot of sense, but it isn't in your fucking face like NY is. Nobody gives a fuck. And if you go outside at night, it's not still just as crazy as it is during the day the way NY is. No matter if it's 2pm or 2am NY just never fucking stops it's ridiculous. Makes my anxiety go fucking nuts.
