Metallica -The Black Album

yeah ive listened to that one to death as well. Uforgiven still does it for me, as does "wherever i may roam" such a fuckin poweful album. id put it in my top 10 but cant decide what to kick out to make space for it.

i love the pixies too jan, though i dont think ive listened to a single album of theirs more than any other in my top 10, A band made for going happily completely psychotic to in the safety of your bedroom, singing along at the top of your voice and rocking out with a tennis racket infront of the mirror (or is that just me lol)

"Hey!" is one of my many faves of theirs. RAY FACKIN WINSTONE LUV IT.

I think maybe i concentrated too much on the earlier part of my record listening life in my list (aged aroung 11-14 ) and if id listed more of the suff i started getting into later there would be much more alt rock in there.

Interesting knock that you spurn the Floys beiggest albums: The Wall, and Dark Side in favor of their more obscure much harder to get into stuff. I guess it's ll the more rewarding when it does finally click and you get into it, you can then listen to those kind of tyracks for ever without tiring of them ?

Mind you i must have heard "Another brick in the wall many hundreds of times" it still sends tingles down my spine, its the build upo, bass line, chorus of rebelious school kids, and of course the fuckin EPIC guitar solo'.

I grew up with their earlier stuff in the house, left by my brothers.

Never really liked The Wall until much later in life. I did listen to to Momentary Lapse of Reason a fair bit though. But it is objectively shit :)

Does anyone find that if they like the artist they forgive a bad album once in a while? Eg, if I didn't like Carter as a band, I wouldn't like their Love Album but cos I do like them, I can forgive a less than brilliant album.

By "forgive" do you mean "listen to it even though you know it's shit"?
Yeah. And like it even though it's reallllllly not as great as their other stuff. Liking it only cos they have produced stuff before that you love and respect.
