So today I was bored and in my bordom i started to get very tempted in things I rally never think about. Like other hard core drugs...So since my last experience with kava was lame I was like okay maybe since I have stopped the phen that maybe it will be better. Wulp folks. It's hard to describe but it's like your weight has lifted. I'm not one that is looking for a mind blowing experience. Just something to chill me out....Other then letting it sit longeror no phenibut but something changed and I wish I knew what

Oh and how long does the mellow high last?

is there any problems with taking it when im currently taking approx 12mg of mirtazepine nightly ??

theres a kava bar right across the street from me, i see the weirdest people there though...might visit it to see what its all about however

and i dont think there will be a reaction with mirtazapine

Kava is awesome! Feels like it gives the good chest rush that alcohol does but a much more relaxed less dissociated headspace.

I lived in Samoa for a while, we used to drink it everyday before work with the Samoans. There it is called 'ava. Numb mouth straight after

It's definitely GABAergic like others (alcohol, benzos, phenibut/GHB, etc.), but there's something different. I get for instance some of that same sort of "enhanced music depth" thing that you get with cannabis and some psychedelics for instance, which I find in no other GABAergic substance. (Not everyone seems to report this, but I find a few other people confirming I'm not alone on this.)

What I find funny is that kava seems to be more of a question mark as to how it works than most herbal compounds -- the scientists aren't even sure just *how* it's GABAergic mechanism works from what I'm seeing.

i got that music enhancement thing from it . was driving along esplenade somewhere in fnq with one of my fav hardtrance cds . just wanted to keep driving with the music blasting all day but had to get back to base because i really shldnt of been driving .

tho i can see this natural substance doing me good , in the sense that it will keep me away from other nastys .. already slipped once recently, not gona let it happen again.

I like breaks. Dj ICEY and stuff like that....I used to be a hard dnb fan but now I have mellowed out!.

Though there have been some credible studies, it's unfortunate that Kava, like so many other therapeutically/medicinally relevant plants due to government and pharmaceutical disinterest or counter-campaign, is lacking in the empirical research/evidence department.

IME, either the primary kavalectones or more likely their secondary/tertiary metabolites have an extremely long duration of action, which remind me of valium. With both diazepam and Kava, I will only take a moderate dose on, say a Friday evening, because of the "hangover" it leaves me with on Saturday- just an all around dull groggy feeling where my eyes are visibly hazy and not all the way open, I look drowsy and out of it, and I feel irritable. These effects persist throughout the following day. For this reason I rarely take it, despite very much enjoying its effects and therapeutic benefits. As mentioned, it is quite unique and pleasant, and especially noteworthy due to its unrestricted status as an herbal supplement.

It may be worth noting that I have a high quality, high potency [standardized] capsule formulation of Kava. When I used to partake in kava sessions, we'd drink prodigious amounts of brew made from potent strains my friend brought back from Fiji, and I don't recall ever having any hangover-type effects the next day. This suggests the method of consumption may play a significant role in its subjective effects.

Yes when I chew whole roots the effects are mostly gone within 30 minutes.

You get the hangover feeling too? I thought i was the only one who gets that from kava. My nose will be dripping, my eyes will be burning, i'll have low energy and a sometimes a headache. I was calling it withdrawals for a while not knowing what it was because it goes away as soon as you drink more. And i'm using powdered roots from Kona BTW. It annoys me but doesn't stop me from drinking it.

I definitely get the music enhancement too.

It definitely doesn't last long at all, for me, and it's really not worth the hangover I get(so you two aren't the only ones).

It only lasts like 30 minutes for me but i continue to drink it all day when the effects wear off so that's why i still use it. And because i still have about 5/8ths of a 1 pound bag left. When i run out though i'll most likely be switching to something else because the hangover is bothering me too, along with the liver damage that's probably doing me quite a bit of harm since i also have Diabetes.
