Surely those predicting a rapid English victory before stumps last night were a little smug? I just know my test cricket, no matter how infuriating 5 days makes my girlfriend. Personally I see Patterson being rolled in the first over after lunch
 
to be honest, ive been less confident since the pitch gave up any vestige of life and swann went on to prove surprisingly ineffective



still stand by the 150 the other day, though. the odds conspiring to firstly not give the number 11 out when he was, then for him to smash the records with a 98 when australia were 119-9 is all very well, doubt anyone wouldve put a bet of any substance on it


aussies have batted well, cant begrudge them anything now
 
God help England if even one Aussie top order batsmen can actually find some form this series. If that's the standard set for the next 9 test matches then ill be very happy.
 
yeah, but conversely - swann may get his act together from now on. never bowls well at his home ground.. and if my aunt had bollocks etc



its by no means over, australia won the first test in 05, considering we're the holders though - theyll find it tough from here on
 
Good game... Dislike drs having the final say, but I would have given that out if i was the umpire and heard it
 
I'd rather the third umpire have the option of reviewing dodgy decisions rather than obvious mistakes going unrewarding because some egotistical opener used up all your teams reviews in the first 10 overs

Those are the second best odi bowling figures . Only the great Chaminda Vaas has better .

Before DRS but an even worse Umpire Error than the Broad one . Should have been 6 for Vaas

Brimz is a top lad.. Guys I don't know near as much about cricket as you all but is it right to say this Aussie team is in transition, they lost a lot of good bowlers over the last few years and batsmen I think.. England shouldn't get too carried away with this ashes maybe?
 
Here we go again then, a quick turnover before the second second test, poor start from england dropping to 26-3, before a recovery from trott and now bell. Really need bell to dig in once again here to post a good total, and hopefully bell can put the "can't make a score under pressure" jibes to bed
 
No surprise that Ryan Harris bowling well here. He would be one of the true great bowlers if his body was made out of more than tissue paper and balsa wood.
 
The guy has some seriously ability somewhere deep down there, but like you said, he's made of balsa wood. Balsa wood and cheap glue
 
This is a poor score and probably England's wake-up call (as they seem to need one) when they lose this Test.
