How importent is spelling?

Personally, I don't give a fuck.

8)

Eh, and it's not important on a social forum where people are regularly either on meds or on recreational drugs that can vastly affect typing, spelling, grammar etc.

Grammar and spelling are only relevant when someone is being a douche and holier than thou, while typing said nonsense with less skill than they're pertaining to.

Correcting grammar here is a fucking retarded pastime. There are a whole plethora of legit reasons why people can't be arsed to correct their own spelling mistakes or grammar before posting, so why bother doing it for them?

I tend to agree. Does have comedy value sometimes but it's when people use it just to "win" arguments it irks me most. Of course I'm sure I do it too 8)

My own spelling and grammar is quite variable. Sometimes cos I'm wasted, sometimes cos I just get it wrong (quite seriously unejimacated me) and sometimes cos I'm quite fond of very minor rebellion.

Hear Hear, I say I say I say. <3

When. relatively; sober' I'll correct sum spelling: and gramer. mistake's otherwise eye c'ant arsed be,

I suppose it's possible if someone ever wanted to use Google to search for a thread title it could become relevant, but I think Google and the likes are 'intelligent' enough to compensate for spelling mistakes. So it really matters not one jot.

It really does depend on the circumstances.

Obviously this is an informal setting so it ain't quite as crucial, but if you have any doubts over spelling you're at a computer already. It's up to you whether you choose to utilise spellcheckers / dictionaries / whatever.

The most annoying thing is when people type (sp?) next to something. Check the fucking spelling yourself, moron. Got that?

Typos, however, are par for the course on a drug-related forum. I can live with benzo-typing, for example. Sometimes it's even funny.

Better spelling is far, far sexier though, at least in my mind. I do tend to get annoyed if I look at mangled spelling for too long, like many people.

I must admit to nearly dumping an ex-girlfriend because her spelling was atrocious, but I was sixteen or summat. That can be forgiven, surely?

tbph shambles, your diction and grammar are surprisingly good. considering youre fucked half most virtually all of the time

and i feel able to say that because he's not a cunt

brimz aint a cunt either, but you can pretty much name drug and dose just on the state of his typing :D

I left school at 14 so really don't have much in the way of actual education. It's just that I ain't thick, always loved to read and pick stuff up easily. But, when it comes to basics like spelling, grammar, maths and the like, I'm actually pretty terrible. As Myshkin suggested up there, I tend to rely on spellcheck and online dictionaries quite a bit at times. Firefox spellchecker and Google are my friends ;)

yeah i left school when I was 15. If you are actually someone who is curious about life and has a desire to learn stuff, then you don't need to jump through hoops like a trained monkey after qualifications. It means fuck all in the real world.

Why is any of that relevant to my individual opinion on spelling? I've already said it's up to you and it ain't so important here.

If, however, you were writing me a love letter (take note, boys and girls) you'd have to be damn sure to dot every 'i' and cross every 't'. And you'd better have an entertaining writing style too.

Foolish? Maybe so. That's just how I am.

cos it shows that i am linguistically gifted .

& also cultured & speaking Spanish & Portuguese is far more sexy than being able to Spell hahahaha

I can't stand hearing either of those languages being spoken (or shouted, if you're my neighbours). They really get me wound up. :X

Each to their own. ;)
