So, my drug of choice (for the last year or two) has been 3-fa. I started off using it once a week. But in the last 8-9 months have been using it twice a week ... once a week for recreational (fun times with hubby), the other times for good old-fashioned house-cleaning binges. I have had depression for most of my life and therefore have problems with motivation/energy to get stuff done, so the 3-fa is something that kind of makes me feel (what I assume to be) normal ... i.e. not having to sleep during the day, getting stuff done instead of just sitting around like a shag on a rock).
But anyway, the 3-fa isn't giving the same feeling that it used to. I assume the same way all drugs tend to lose their effectiveness when used over a long period of time.
Do I need to take a break from stims altogether, or could a change of product be enough?
When I started 3-fa I was on Lexapro (SSRI), so I liked that the 3-fa didn't work on serotonin. However, I am now on Cimbalta (SNRI), so I guess I would still like to avoid anything too serotonin based.
I would still like to be able to use something twice a week ... but I do stick to small doses. I'm not getting totally off my face ... just enough to make me more functional than I am normally, with hopefully a reasonably good mood to go with it. Normal dosages of 3-fa ranging around the 30-40mg mark.
If changing product, I am considering 3-mmc, ethcathinone or ethylphenidate. I'm not certain that any of these would be the best choice, but I am also limited in what I can actually manage to get my hands on.
So what is the general opinion .... have a break altogether, or try a change?
