the crooks in my arms are starting to get to scared, but i cant stand hitting in my hands it just feels weird ,it seems like the viens of my underarms hurt like a MOTHER FUCKER. so i end up just going back to my crooks....i cant find anything on my legs

Wrists? I've hit em for years.

If you are using half inches you have to do it real shallow and memorize how much of the needle is in when you register. If you put too much in or pull it out, you'll miss and it will suck.

The same can be said for any length tip when using shalliw veins?

I originally posted this in another thread which I can't find so I will give an update in this one, which is better suited for my question. It's been almost 24hrs since a partially missed suboxone shot in my inner left elbow and the whole right side of my left arm is numb. I've never been numb this long before. No swelling or redness, and it only hurts if I squeeze the numb area, which it feels like a slight burning pain. Does this sound like a nerve issue? And will it go away most likely?

I think you should get it checked out by a doctor. By the way, if you are looking for one of your posts just click on your username or where it says 'my profile' on the top right of the forum, then click the 'find latest posts' link on the left below your username.

Follow the veins from the crooks of your arms down to your hand and you should be able to hit along the majority of it that runs down your forearm. The vein that runs into your thumb is the easiest, and you can follow that backwards [from thumb to crook] to find new spots to hit.

so when the tip first goes into the vein and is able to register, is it better to lay the angle down flat and slide the tip further into the vein so it dont slip out while plunging?

It really depends on how long the needle is, how far in it is, how big the vein is, etc. I wouldn't necessarily push the needle further in if you can already see blood.

It's actually a lot more complicated than just pushing the needle all the way in just to do it. If you have no problem IVing the way you're already doing it, I wouldn't change your technique.

I'm used to doing pretty good size shots, and I hate to have to keep pulling back to make sure I'm still in. If I'm barely in the vein, just drawing back can make it come out. Once it comes out, you have to take the needle out and attempt to hit your vein again with blood already in the syringe. Which is really hard to do and stressful!

What's actually ideal and what's possible are two different things when it comes to this.

Yeah, however you do it personally, whatever little differences in technique you have from others, it's fine. As long as you're using clean needles and being overall conscious of your safety, then you're good.

yeah the technique i use to plunge lets the needle sneak back sometimes..
so if i lay the syringe angle down really flat once im in, should the tip just slide up the vein without going through?

If you're at the right angle yeah. That's what you're hoping for. That the needle rests inside in the vein rather then poking through or not being deep enough.

Ideally, if you're injecting into one of the big veins in the crook of your arm, you should go at very shallow angle, having the needle pretty much horizontally parallel to your arm, look at the vein and try to have the tip of the needle smack-dab in the middle of the vein pushed all the way in. That's a perfect hit in my opinion. With the four veins in the crook of each arm, if you go in from a slightly different location every time, and you have good, visible veins, they'll serve you well for a long time.

I've been IVing 16 years...I have four scars. 2 on the crook of both arms they range from about a little less than 1/8 inch to about 3/10 of an inch, but they're very neatly arranged. they're fading a little bit, but they are pretty much dark red/purple, and even after over a year of not IVing, they're still obvious in the right light. I can still shoot through the scars though, the veins are still good.

If I started IVing coke for a month, those veins would get inflamed and become difficult to hit. If I stuck with just heroin, I probably wouldn't have visible scarring.

I'm skinny so it feels like I'm hitting bone in my wrists... I don't like going to far down my forearms cuz they seem to bruise really easy

here is another spot i like to use... u might need a torniquet if you cant see it.

Yes; if you're using short tips on hand veins, same applies.

On those surface veins I literally only need the bevel to go through and it looks like almost the entire needle tip is still not in me when I use a vein like that. Kind of trips me out thinking about it.

If I'm using a short tip on my arms, I'll use most of it and go in at an angle where I know I won't accidentally poke through. That's why I <3 short tips.

^^

Dude your veins are fucking awesome. I am jealous as shit! :(

But, damn I'm secretly glad I don't have those anymore otherwise I'd probably be dead in a week, hah.

I'd post my veins on here but I think it's smarter that I didn't.

But yeah, many IDU's have told me the same thing.

Damn you all with still functioning awesome veins!

Ah so that was you checking out my arms ;) kidding. You'd see the tracks on my right arm. I do have incredible veins though. Alaskan pipe line!

Well whoever he is, I'm still jealous.

I was at starbucks the other day and the barista behind the counter had unbelievable veins. He caught me staring at them like a dude would a chics ass. Hah, he was so creeped out.

That shits like porn for junkies.

Yessss. I've done that shit an embarassing number of times, but being a girl it comes off a bit less creepy.
