So I have been prescribed ADD meds my entire life, most of the time (8/9 years) it's been Methylphenidate.

I've never abused my meds even though I loves getting high, because I didn't want my meds to stop working. I also have never ever abused Amphetamine (off the street, or prescription)

They stopped working anyway after I moved to Canada, so my pshyc gave her Vyvanse because it wasn't available in England.

First time I took it, (1x 40mg) I started dancing while doing the dishes, and hand stands while taking out the recycling. I felt invincible! This was the first and only time I got a buzz from Vyvanse.

One day I took my normal dose 1x 40mg, but then decided to take another 4x 40mg. (200mg all together) to see what all the hype is about.

I never even got a buzz and had to deal with 4 days without medication which was horrible because my ADHD is really bad.

I recently got prescribed 50mg in morning then 20mg at lunch, but I'm hesitant to try and get high because I don't wanna waste my script.

Is it because of my ADHD or what?

I think the big concern here is your pet is doing dishes. That's not normal...

But in all seriousness we know it's YOU getting high and not your pet.

But to answer your question, it could have been a number of things. Mainly what you ate that day and tolerance.

I thought Vyvanse was not affected by what you eat? and normally after I take my Vyvanse I don't eat :P Severe loss of appetite.

Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is essentially an inactive form of dextroamphetamine. You're wasting your time with it.

I edited your post to remove all the third person/my pet stuff because it is against bluelight rules to use such things to (ineffectively) attempt avoiding incrimination.

It is highly likely your medical condition is limiting your ability to get high off your amphetamine.

You say you don't want to waste your script and have days where you are unmedicated, and the only way not to do this is to take them as prescribed.

I thought it was against the rules to not use SWIM?

Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate is a prodrug for Dextroamphetamine, which means once the Lis part is cleaved off by the body, it turns into active Dextroamphetamine. So you are wrong there :p The only way it's a waste of time is by snorting it, because it's only active orally.

That's most other forums, not Bluelight.

Actually, lisdexamphetamine being a prodrug for d-amphetamine, it is inactive until metabolized into the active metabolite d-amphetamine.

We're talking about lisdexamphetamine being inactive, not the fact that it metabolizes into a psychotropic.

That being said, I'm not sure what point the above poster was trying to make.

I know but when taken orally, normally one can get high off of Vyvanse, the way TIAH wrote it made it sound like it was inactive completely and can't get you high.

So it most likely is my ADHD stopping me getting high? I don't think I wanna try again because those unmedicated days were just horrific :P

^ a lot of people with ADHD report paradoxical sedation from high doses of their Rx stimulants.

Even if you were to get high, would it be worth the days of unmedication?

Definitely not worth it. I was gonna see if I can get my hands on some Ritalin as a cheap replacement for snow though, but doubt I'd be able to get high off that either =/...

I am not gonna try to get high off my Vyvanse though anymore.

General information of lisdexamfetamine. And, IMHO, I just don't see much recreational value in it.

Eh, I've just never had any fun with LDA. Every time I've done it, I just felt really paranoid and anxious.
Then again, drugs do affect each and every person differently.

Methylphenidate is equally as neurotoxic as amphetamine

Take your medication as prescribed. The fact that you "can't get high off it" should be considered a blessing, since you'll be less likely to abuse it, become addicted to it, and nullify its use for your diagnosis.

No need for further speculation on why you're not getting high off your medication, especially that Venrak has answered your questions to good effect.

Closed. PM me if you have any questions. Feel free to start a separate thread if you have new questions.
