slipped up and took some oxy's recently tili ran out then went out saturday night and drank. Now I feel like I'm in withdrawal all over again. Can this be related?? Any help?

Drinking can cause people to relapse, but usually be secondary means. While ethanol does increase levels of endogenous opiate peptides, its not likely that alcohol directly induced an opiate withdrawal (though their withdrawal symptoms overlap). I'll bet it was due to the oxycodone.

thanks

You're probably right but it was days after the last oxy i took and I felt fine until Sunday morning after the party I went to - I chalked it up to a hangover at first but these symptoms are all too familiar. I just don't want to feel like this anymore - I'm a HUGE wimp. I can get some weed if need be but would that help or hurt?

Well, personally I never recommend the use of illegal drugs.

Its possible that, based on this evidence, using marijuana might precipitate further withdrawal. http://journals.lww.com/neuroreport...id_receptor_antagonist_induced_opiate.12.aspx

This one is interesting - seemingly counter-intutive: http://www.nature.com/npp/journal/v32/n6/abs/1301243a.html

Given this implicit overlapping mechanism, marijuana for you poses a risk in regards to experiencing further opiate withdrawal, and opiate relapse. This is the bad news. The good news is that we can infer that marijauna would reduce the displeasure you're currently feeling.

I'm sure that there are people on bluelight who say that marijuana helps opiate withdrawal. Some say it even helps them greatly in staying off other drugs.

With the information you gave me, I couldn't guess what would happen. Even so, its impossible to pinpoint just what the consequences of using marijuana will have on you.

I'm not a doctor and don't do anything illegal, but I can tell you that psychiatry is against marijuana usage in general, due in part to monetary interests, but there is also some justification in that its a fairly unpredictable drug.

Shm, so interesting to see this topic be brought up for discussion..A few years ago, when I was trying to come off of opiates,-whenever I would drink for and evening or two-binge/whatever you want to call it, the next day would feel like enhanced opiate withdrawals all over again for me-almost as if they got worse. Thus the endless cycle continued for me. Trying to get a bit of sleep at night/cover up withdrawal symptoms; I would drink alcohol...but wake up the next morning desperately craving opiates, and sometimes giving into the temptation. It was a hard cycle to get myself out of.
Alcohol definitely enhanced the opiate withdrawal-feelings for me as well.

The alcohol has nothing to do with it, at least not reignating withdrawal, that was all on the opiates. However, drinking can have made what otherwise would be minor withdrawal seem really crappy, you sure you aren't just suffering from a hangover from both? I find opiates tend to give me 1-2 days hangover after going through withdrawal if I do not wait long enough. Not actual withdrawal, but you still feel like shit.
