I am just a girl from the heartland which would be Nebraska, not Iowa. I've long since been a follower of this site and for the most part always found the answers I was looking for through several forums on many different occasions. The experiences that you all post or reply to in other peoples' threads are very important. I have always found most replies to even just one post have given me the knowledge to help me make whatever decision i may have been struggling with.
Furthermore, I just want to say "Thank You" to those of you who take these forums seriously and I would like to say "screw you" to those of you who have nothing better to say to anyone than "don't do drugs, they're bad" (duh, drugs are bad. So is cheese...) and "Don't be an idiot, it's not smart injecting that s*** into your veins. It's bad" (couldn't agree more, but pretty sure you can F*** off). Well, I happen to know from experience as well that visitors that read these forums/threads must have the correct knowledge (if available) from personal experience of others or from the science of the matter at hand. Yes, most drug users know (or should know) that everything we're doing to our bodies is bad and may kill us someday, but telling us this information is helping us in no way, shape, or form. The only/best thing you can do, despite your own personal opinions, is to help the readers find safer and smarter ways of enjoying their habits.
I will do nothing but uphold the respect on here that I would only ask for in return. It's great to be a part of this community and I hope that my knowledge and my experiences in life will help those of you looking for help and those in search of safer actions with inevitable experiences of their own.

Best Regards,
D

Welcome to Bluelight, D. :) I think you'll find that most of the people here share your opinions and you should fit in well. If you have any questions about Bluelight, feel free to PM me.

I am quite relaxed lol. Agreed, though. I think my "Welcome" statement intended to be an "About Me" Introduction, does read a little more intense than expected :)

Thank you! After having been just a reader of Bluelight threads I want to now share my experiences and of course the other reason is so that I may actually get some much needed social interaction from other members here lol. Being a stay-at-home mom doesn't allow me to get out much ;)

Welcome to BL D!

There are risks involved in taking drugs, but none of us would do any if we didn't find it also useful, and as long as the reward is stronger than the pain...

There is a BIG difference between drug use and abuse, but Americans in general don't see it. For the average judgmental, ignorant civilian, using a drug that's not prescribed or illegal is abuse. I wish forums like BL could help educate the stupid masses encouraging the devastatingly counter-productive anti-drug policies fucking with our liberties.

Some philosophers say that the need to intoxicate oneself is almost as fundamental and essential as food and sex. Of course chocolate, sugar... your children can be your drugs.

No law (and especially no fucking American policy affecting the laws of other free nations in a bad way) will ever be justified in telling me I can't intoxicate myself whenever I fucking feel like it.. The only true human law is: if my behavior is causing pain and restricts the liberties of others, then and only then it may be inappropriate. Drunk driving is inappropriate, stealing to buy drugs is inappropriate, spending your kids' college money on coke is inappropriate... Shooting heroin or smoking weed are morally neutral behaviors in themselves. If I know perfectly the risks involved, doing drugs is my business, not the police's or the politician's.

We have the right to get accurate info, we sure don't need propaganda and myths.

The truth is: some, maybe the majority, won't be able to simply use once they have abused. But it's a myth, entertained for the most part by 12-step programs, that the only way to stop abuse is by total abstinence if you accept the ''addict'' definition. Well, If you feel that only total abstinence will prevent a relapse FOR YOU, you may be right, but just because you got burned don't mean you have to spread falsehoods encouraging the repression and criminalization of happy users.

There are two kinds of people I have a problem with: abusers in denial, and ex-abusers demonizing all forms of illegal drug taking, deeming it impossible for others to use recreationally.

I have abused drugs in the past, but I regularly u-s-e now. My intake has been stable and I've been free of chemical dependencies for a long time now. I did a lot of NA meetings in my twenties that were beneficial for the most part, but that weren't, in the long run, THE answer for ME and countless others...

It IS possible to use again, even if you once abused. Only time will tell if total abstinence is better for YOU. You may have to take a long break before you resume using intelligently, or you may be one of those supposedly ''allergic'' to any drug taking. It may be better for YOU to believe that myth. Only you know what you know, as a free man or woman.
