I'm nodding in and out as I type this, so I'll keep it short

- approx. 9am this morning - I took 50mg of Oxycodone HCL
- approx. 9:30am - I took another 20mg
- approx. 10am - I took yet another 20mg
- approx. 12am - I took 80mg ER Oxycontin
- approx. 12am - I snorted 20mg Oxycodone HCL

It's now 3:10pm and I've never been this high before in my life. I can barely keep my eyes open and my breathing is a bit shallow. Should I be concerned? Please reply quicky.

Don't take any more. Seek medical help if you are feeling like you aren't gonna be ok. It's always better to be safe than sorry

That does seem like a lot of oxy. Is this way more than you would normally take?
Are you by yourself now or is someone there in the house with you? Maybe you could
have someone sit with you and make sure you don't stop breathing. If you feel ill, call 911

There is a difference between shallow breathing and depressed respiration. If you feel that you have to put any effort into breathing properly, it is time to get yourself to the ER. That's a lot of oxycodone for your tolerance if I recall, and that 80mg is not fully released.

Definitely not taking any more. I'm higher than heaven.

There are people in the house with me. And if it gets any worse, I will call 9/11.

It just feels like everything in my body is slow, and my breathing could best be described as shallow. It's improving a bit, so that's a good thing. I think some of the HCL is wearing off and that is putting less stress on my heart. But it was a scary 45 minutes there. I think I'm gonna be okay. But I'll keep reporting in.

Any thread with the title: Possible OD: Urgent.. shouldn't be written.

The emergency services are the ones you need to inform..

That's alot of Oxy. I guess it depends on your tolerance though..respiratory depression is a common side effect of opiates (shallow breathing etc) I get slowed breathing every time I do opiates. What is your tolerance you haven't told us? I hope your OK being that you haven't checked back..but yeah as other BLers said if you seriously have to put any effort into breathing you need tocall 911 or get to a hospital before it gets to late..don't risk it.

^ It definitely would have...

OP, I'm keeping this open because you haven't logged on in a while, and we would like for you to drop in and tell us how you are.

yeah, this kind of thing happens all too often on here. when i was moderating it gets kinda stressful to a point when you're dealing with these threads on the regular and a huge reason why i really hate seeing these threads. especially when the OP doesn't reply. sometimes it comes down to them being embarrassed and not replying which shouldn't be the case - which is where some of the stress stems from.

I'm still going to keep this open, but ask please that no one reply with the exception of the OP from this point forward.

^ Delete if you must but i feel it would be constructive to offer comfort with something I learn t on this forum that really spoke to me.

The idea was that if you feel you have an OD situation on an opiate yet are still able to be fearful, concerned and able to make a post with legible writing would indicate that you might or could be ok.

I was taught here that a real OD situation with cause for concern would be effecting the user in such a way that they would not be aware or would be nodding/unconcious and unaware of the danger. Being able to feel fear and be concerned about your situation can indicate a dose that might be below the level requiring help.

Of course nothing is ever certain and you should take care and be safe however we also need to the tools and information that might allow us to diagnose real danger over perceived danger to the most accurate degree. Reacting strongly and inaccurately to a safe situation can also be dangerous (for example attempting to drive to seek medical assistance if unnecessary).

If this is bad advice i would rather learn why the have this post removed. All the best to you OP.

Both points you make are indeed accurate, however a life is never something we want to look back on, and say, well that should have been okay. This is why in a situation where an overdose is suspected the best advice that can be offered, call emergency services immediately. No danger there, other than legal ramifications, but with your life on the line that is of little consequence.

When in this territory of borderline overdose, you can go from okay to not quickly, don't waste the time posting on a forum, use it seeking the medical services you need. This is the mentality to why these threads get closed. Since this had already went past that point, the idea is to leave it open so the OP can reply if and when they are okay. (Hopefully <3)

No I won't remove your post, just offer my opinion on it. Understanding why things are run the way they are leads to better utilization of the tools bL puts at your disposal.

Another point is that it makes a difference what drug and ROA the person is dealing with, how long it's been since they took it, if they have taken other drugs, redosed, etc. ER meds or long-acting/slow onset meds and combinations of multiple drugs can be very hard to assess, because even if someone's life is not in immediate danger that doesn't mean their situation won't deteriorate, and we don't want them to leave it until it gets to the point where they aren't able to seek help. So seeking help is a pre-emptive action in these cases where someone is still coherent enough to type. It is a lot more complex than, say, someone using IV heroin (*without other drugs) where they can be reasonably sure that if it's been a certain amount of time and they're conscious and breathing they are not in danger. One thing I recommend people do in these kinds of situations, where they are worried they might have taken too many drugs, is to call a medical hotline if there is one in their area. I think quite a few places have free hotlines where you can call and speak to a qualified nurse who can assess whether you need to call an ambulance or not. They would be much better able to help someone than we can on an internet forum.
