Just Prescribed Ativan

Seroquel can cause a strong hangover & might make you gain a shitload of weight. My roommate gained 40lbs in 6 months on the shit.

I have had all the benzos out there, and i think ativan is a great one. I have never taken them daily, so what i do know from others is to take them as prescribed and don't miss your dose since it has a relatively short half life. Or you could just take them 2-3 times a week which is what i am doing with klonopin.

Ativan is one of the quickest acting drugs out there. Which means it also has a very short half life. Missing a dose will throw you into violent benzo withdrawal which is terrifying and you can even die from it. But it will definitely take care of your anxiety. The Seroquel, I do not agree with at all, mostly because I don't think you're psychotic, but I've taken it before and it makes you feel really doped out and spaced. It also makes you really tired, so you might want to take that right before you go to bed.

Wow really? My new phsyc assured me that Seroquel would be different and that it would knock me out at night. But he didn't mention any of that.

Quetiapine (seroquel) is the worst of the lot IMO. Lorazepam on the other hand is a good anxiolytic, you'll do well on it. I remember from one of your other posts that you're still quite young, so I only hope you're well aware of the risks of addiction, dependence and withdrawal benzodiazepines carry.

I would say use both only on an as needed basis. That is the lorazepam when anxiety spikes at the lowest effective dose. And the seroquel only on nights you feel you may have issues with insomnia as it can produce a heavy mental fog. 25 - 50mg is usually ideal for sleep if you weren't informed of that, as at that dose the action is more that of an antihistamine than an antipsychotic.

Hope that helps.

Benzo for acute anxiety only, and even then as a last resort or for times you need to do important things. You are going to have to find ways to deal with your symptoms without benzodiazepines ideally in the future.

The quetiapine, as bronson says, is very well known for the zombie like state it puts you in, and you should use that sparingly as well. Go higher than 75-100mg and you'll see. Not pleasant. It is one of the worst APs for this.

Careful with the Ativan, it can be quite addicting. If you need it take it. If you feel you can handle a morning/night without it don't take it. "As needed"

Being on seroquel 2 months gave me insomnia for 7 months after. Nothing beats seroquel sedation wise.. Nothing I've tried. I don't even understand how it's so sedating. Benzos\hypnotics have never even come close to having similar sedation effects to serquel. I'd personally avoid it like the plague.

Lorazepam was a very beneficial substance to me on the other hand. I've always tried hard to not just pop it all the time and let my benzo tolerance\possibly beginning of dependency go away.

And Harry is right. It's so convenient, those tiny white pills...

Despite what people here might say, Seroquel is usually a very effective drug for sleep, anxiety, bi-polar, and even sometimes depression. Bluelight is a great site but too often people advocate using drugs which have recreational potential over ones that are just as or more effective and can't be abused (though there are a few reports of Seroquel abuse). Now...Seroquel is a more sustainable drug as tolerance to the anxiolytic and sleep-inducing effect won't develop nearly so much as that to ativan; you will probably have to raise your dose of lorazepam eventually (sooner rather than later). That said, they are both effective medications and I wish you luck.
