Yeah, totally agree. Don't think I've seen anything else that has moved me that much, which seems strange to say I guess but tis true. I need to see the entire film sometime but I don't think I can man the beginning again!

Jaywalking is a pretty easy crime, Cornish. Not sure if that's a crime here though. Could be tricky to monetise it too. Parking in the wrong place is probably the closest I can think of. Similar issues with converting it to a money-spinning enterprise though I'd imagine. Not much help perhaps but I tried for you <3

Just need to get some copper to weigh in or something.
Tho I suspect everyone's had it all around here.

My garden is essentially a scrapyard, but there's no way I would weigh any of it in. Even though it looks v tempting and would be undoubtedly easy.

Argh... Boredom.

Idle thumbs, etc..

EDIT: I do have about 100 dud 'valiums' and a chunk of dirt bar that barely gets you stoned. Oh & my methadone.
Can't stand such crap drugs.

Crap drugs are almost worse than no drugs at all, Cornish. Such a tease :!

Watched a doc on BBC1 last night about thieving metal. Quite amusing. Massive clampdowns on it too recently since it's been all the rage. Am sure a dedicated pirate could get around that though. Or watch the doc to kill an hour if really desperate.

Ben & Snolls: My fave animated film of late is 9. Probably a bit too scary for a 4yo but I really enjoyed it. Surprisingly philosophical for a kids film.

I flushed my heroin so I cannot take anymore and can get started on recovery properly without risking becoming the next tragedy

you should have sent it to me!!!

mugz, I thought that was what you were up to when I read your blog and i meant to tell you off...not that it's my place to but I know what that stuff is all about (sort of ;)) and don't want you going down that road.
argh you've made me forget what i wanted to say.

love love love love good old valentines day. wasn't it all about "mystery" when we was younger? it now appears to be one of those days that YOU MUST GET INVOLVED IN!!!!! fuck facebook . i love it and i hate it. maybe it's because i'm bitter and twisted. I'm not really. it is just annoying those people who post every photo of every minor event in their or their child's lives and constant "inspirational quotes" n all that. I heard/ saw on the telly some report about women getting all inadequate about their friends lives ... the holidays shoes and all that.

I suppose you can tell a lot about a person by the way they use facebook. I do love it for the crack. There are many friends of friends (and indeed friends) who do not seem to get my sense of humour. i feel the bafflement . i love the fact that you can do a bit of randomness on it to random people (well, family and friends really) bypassing royal mail.

remembered!!! pot noodles are great aren't they? you know what you are getting with a pot noodle. noodles in a pot. what a Wword NOODLES. how do the chinese say noodles? is it a chinese word ? (don't want to know what it looks like in chinese)

i could chat shit all day but i'm going to watch doctors. One day I'll turn up at pebble mill studios at the mail box in brum and say "give me a bit part ; give me a big part. I can't dance , i can't sing but boy can oi act and do the accunt."

you would be great maxie at burying the dead with dignity. I too like the thought of it...don't think I'm cut out for it though as i'm fairly good at saying things that make people laugh when they shouldn't laugh.

Nice, will have a look at that Shammy, looks pretty in a dusty sorta way. The Professor Layton film is pretty decent too, but that's maybe cos I'm massively gay for the series in general. And The Cat Returns is my favourite of all, is a Studio Ghibli one I think, musta seen it at least ten times.

Enjoyed 9, was one where I stuck it on for us without watching it first, kind of the reason I do watch films before letting her see them now. The graphical style is top notch, like you can see every stitch in the little bag folks clothy bodies. Quite a looker that film.

Is very pretty indeed. Liked the style of it a lot. Wasn't really sure who it was aimed at though. Seems a bit too dark for younglings. Teens I suppose. Or adults actually cos I liked it and watched it off the back of a good review in Bizarre.

Snolls: I <3 Ghibli but take it as read that everybody with eyes and brain does so rarely bother recommending 'em. Unless it's one of the lesser known ones perhaps. Suppose there's always more folk to convert though. Some of those would be great for a 4yo. Very "girl-friendly" too (if that ain't too horribly sexist to say). Never been a young girl nor had a sister but I get the impression he's great at capturing the way young girls are. Totoro being a prime example. Some of 'em I found maybe a tad "young" for me but they're so well animated and just downright lovely it's hard not to <3 'em all really.

Yeah, figured they're a well known one, had a collection of about 20 of em til recently, some I've not heard of and a lot I have. Watched Princess Mononoke the other day, love that film, really like stuff set in rural Japan/China, so damn beautiful in places. Something for everyone as far as Ghibli's concerned, agree with it being girl friendly haha, I've never been a typical girly-girl but something about those films just appeals to the six year old lass in me (disclaimer: not a nonce). Gonna watch Mononoke again today in fact <3

Agreed about Ghibli stuff, never thought about putting it on for one of our Sunday after dinner films though. Will rectify, I also like The Cat Returns and would be perfect for her. Nice soft imagery. Well recommended peeps, cheers <3

Hehe glad to hear someone else enjoys it, I particularly like the end, I've got a big fascination with labyrinths and what not, dunno why, just find them enthralling for some reason. Get caught up in them, harr. I sort of can't wait to have kids just so I can show them all this stuff and experience it for the first time again in a way. Loved doing that with my ex's little boy, though he's all about Cars at the moment <3

Don't think I've seen The Cat Returns actually. Thought I'd seen just about all of 'em. Apparently not. This is a Good Thing =D

In related news, might watch me some anime this afternoon meself actually. Didn't realise there were so many full-length ones posted on PooToob these days. One or two I never got around to watching have caught me eye so think I might settle down to a Vampire Hunter D double bill. Been on me ToWatch list since I was in me teens so may as well get on with it.

Having a child for me is one of the hardest but also one the most rewarding things I've ever done, you'll love it, and hate it, but with one smile all the bad stuff you've gone through disappears like it never happened. Like you say one of the best things is being able to do kiddy stuff all over again, said it before but I love animation so I'm happy. I'm really looking forward to when she's of an age to go to theme parks so I have an excuse to ride all the rollercoasters again. Yipee!

We loved Cars the second one is far too long and not very good sadly.

Shambles The Cat Returns has been on film 4 a few times, it's one of those films where I can never remember the name of it when trying to recommend it to someone but I have seen it loads, it's one of Ghibli's biggies.

Which is quite an admirable skill.

Capturing young girls, less so.

=D

In other PooToob anime news (that should possibly be in the films thread but seeing as we're on the topic...) anyone who hasn't seen Grave of the Fireflies really should consider doing so. Absolute masterpiece. Not one for the kiddies, mind. Is about a boy who's orphaned by the 1945 nuclear attacks on Japan trying to survive in the aftermath. Very moving film well worth a watch. That version is dubbed though so dunno if it's up to the standard of the subtitled version. Bad dubbing can ruin anime :\

Also, Paprika is an absolute belter. Recommended by someone in the films thread recently. Classic wtf/trippy shit anime stuff. Great fun. Also not young-kiddy friendly - one for the parents to watch with a spliff or two when the kids are in bed.

Grave of the Fireflies is the most soul destroying film I have ever seen. I picked it out from my brother's anime collection one hapless afternoon and spent the rest of the day feeling like I was in mourning...Really excellent film, but not exactly a pick-me-up.

Saw When the Wind Blows at the cinema. MamaSham took me on the strength of The Snowman. Scarred me for life so it did. Great film but they coulda warned folk how relentlessly bleak it was given what he's best known for :D

That anime one isn't quite as bleak but is a properly good film. One to show folk who think animation = fluffy kiddy fodder.

EDIT: Really, Albi? I found the Raymond Briggs one more depressing. Fireflies is definitely not one to put on for shits 'n' giggles though, I'd agree. Given the subject matter it's hardly gonna be a laugh a minute though really.

I haven't seen the Raymond Briggs film...If it's a heavier film than Grave Of The Fireflies though, I'm not going to be jumping at the bit to watch it.

Grave really got to me mainly because of the relationship between the brother and sister, though, more than the subject matter.

Aww, that's really sweet, she's lucky to have a Dad like you <3 Aye having kids does sound like a mission, I'm definitely not ready for it yet, though it scares me a little that in the next five or ten years I'll be having to make a decision, 35 would be an ideal age for me I think. At the moment I'm enjoying being a surrogate aunty to my ex's little boy, we're really close and it puts a smile on my face like nowt else when I come home from uni and he shouts my name and runs to hug me. Love him like my own, and made me a bit teary when she came over the other week and said he'd been asking after me. Need to get back there sharpish <3

Give us a shout if ya find any decent anime, Shammy, was gonna say so earlier, I've never really watched much, more of a manga reader myself. I got into Naruto for a while, which is silly but it's got that aesthetic I like. Housemate likes her anime too, might hit her up for a few recommendations. Don't think I've actually seen Grave of the Fireflies, so will give that and Paprika a watch if my fucking internet connection behaves. Hate watching stuff on me laptop so usually upload it from my laptop to my PS3 in absence of a USB stick but for some reason even local connections are slow as fuck right now. Internet was down the other day and I could still transfer locally so suspect there might be some router fuckery afoot :|

Feeling shockingly good today, housemate just informed me that all the stuff she didn't use cooking my mate's valentine's breakfast is up for grabs, and as far as I know she's not told anyone else =D Everyone's in a good mood, it's nice :)

'When The Wind Blows' is all about the relationship of the two characters in the film Albion. Real sad depressing film. Damn Shambles think I'd be scarred for life if I saw that at a certain age, either that or not get it and wish it had more Transformers in it and be bored for the entire thing.

Best bit about that relationship you have with your nephew as you put it is snolly is you can give him back at the end of the day =D Thanks for the kind words <3

The Briggs one isn't heavier as such. Is not exactly a barrel of laughs though. Think it was cos I saw it as a kid and was already terrified of imminent nuclear death raining down at any moment. Is just a very sad film. Totally different tone to Fireflies. Is just about two pensioners following government guidelines and staying in their home "shelter" in the aftermath of a nuclear strike on Britain. The ol' WWII spirit just ain't gonna cut it with acute radiation poisoning though really... Is a very good film, mind. But not likely to leave you in a cheery mood. At all.

EDIT: Is on PooToob - When the Wind Blows. This comment sums it up nicely...

While Threads scared you, When the Wind Blows broke your heart...

Couldn't put it better myself.
