I don't think scum like that deserve the name "trolls". They're just cunts.

Yep. The cunts have always been among us, but before the internet was a part of everyday life you didn't notice them as much from the comfort of your living room.

I suspect that such cuntery is more widespread in this day and age because of other cunts egging the cunts on and competitively seeking new levels to plumb, and the fact that the cunts in question are extremely unlikely to be caught and have the shit beaten out of them for being cunts.

True, if you saw a cunt when you were out you could easily avoid them but now with a click of a button they can be there right in front of you.

Also max about your comment about watching out for my little one, I will indeed keep watch but there is only so much I can do and can only keep an eye on her up to a point, you know? Also I can work a computer much better than my parents did and I have no doubt she'll run rings round me with her knowledge because of her generation when it comes to pc literacy so will be able to circumvent any safeguards (if there is such a thing!) that I introduce. It is a real worry of mine, same with texting and mobile phones etc.

Shambles calling these folk scum is an insult to scum, such as the type found in an unclean bath.

Yeah, I bet these idiots wouldn't be so brave and say the shit they say if it was a face to face encounter.

Yes mate it must be a real worry for you.
Like you said there is only so much that you can do and kids these days are much more computer savvy than we were.
Good point about mobile phones,I hadn't thought about them. Near impossible to know what's going on when kids are out of the house or even at home with their phones which they can use to access the internet.
There is so much on the internet that kids just shouldn't see,in fact there is stuff as an adult I wish I hadn't seen.
You can only do your best mate and trust your daughter to listen to your advice.

Thanks maxalfie, but we've all been young and know what it's like to rebel. I have no doubt she will be subjected to some horrible stuff and there's little I can do about it. It's funny because before I let my Daughter watch a film I like to watch it myself to vet it first, well I'm a huge animation fan but that's my excuse and I'm sticking with. I recently watched Paranorman with the thought that we'd watch it together the following day. Glad I did because it's full of zombies, witches, folk dying and I just know it would have given her (and therefore also me) nightmares for weeks afterwards. She's only 4 and a half. I was going to take her to the cinema to see it as well, so glad I didn't now as she would have run out screaming bless her.

Saying that though watched Wreck It Ralph last night and even though the film is crap has passed the suitability test and we'll be sitting down together to watch it together on Sunday.

Funny you mentioned Paranorman as me and my flatmate watched that last Sunday, 2 blokes in our 40's but still big kids.
Can see how some of it could be a bit scarey for a 4 and a half year old.
The Ice Age films are great if you not seen them already.

spose we can only hope the novelty wears off eventually, and people decide not being a cunt is actually a nicer way to live. I think there's something to be said for lettting people act out their cuntish impulses online instead of violently in the street, to some degree, but not when it starts to have serious realworld consequences which are as bad or worse.

society is gonna have to deal with all these problems anway, sooner or later, and at least this propensity for cuntishness humans have is becoming less of a secret than it was in jimmy savilles time etc.

Her favourites are the Toy Story trilogy, Wall-E and Shrek 1 & 2, even she thinks the third one was lacking and the fourth one was dross. Good suggestion max thanks I'll get hold of them =D

I though Paranorman was really good actually, really unexpected as it slipped under the radar somewhat. I love the 'sabre-squirrel' Scrat from Ice Age, we've only seen the first one of the films.

Wall-E is a great film, I loved that one. Animated films these days are great, the colours are fantastic and the characters are animated so well and there is usually something in the films to make adults laugh without it being offensive to the kids.
Deffo check out the Ice Age animated films as they are very well done and funny and I think they would be fine for your daughter but give them a look and see what you think.
It sounds like you have a great relationship with your daughter, I bet she is a daddys girl.

Am not a parent so know nowt. But given it is a fact that any given kid will indeed run rings around any given adult is it not best to focus on teaching kids how to deal with anything nasty they may ecounter rather than hoping to prevent nastiness from being witnessed in the first place? Am mostly thinking about online bullying really. Just seems so tragic that kids actually sometimes choose suicide over what is ultimately just words on a screen. Except when it's not just online, I suppose. That must be pure hell having it at school all day then on FB and/or whatever sites kids use in your free time. Was bad enough just getting grief at school in my day (had a year of it once and ended up causing a nervous breakdown which took a year off school to recover from :\). Must be a real worry some of the stuff kids are exposed to now that didn't exist not so long ago so you have my sympathies Ben and other bechilded folk.

Times change though - there's always something each generation has to deal with their parents never did. More positives than negatives from growing up in the intrawebz age, I'd say. The negatives can be pretty fukkin seriously negative sometimes though.

For some reason only known to her she really liked 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs', I thought it was crap and would much prefer to see the masterpiece which is Wall-E again for the god knows how many times again. =D

We've seen the first Ice Age and yes very suitable I should get the rest of those.

Yes Shambles I agree, it is a bridge I will have to cross at some point and as with all parenting being a learning experience with no real manual for guidance hope I do the best I can to educate and support. Not looking forward to it though. Just hope I don't fail her in any way because I believe she deserves the best of everything I can give. Just hope it's enough.

Focusing on the positives instead of the negatives is really good advice though <3

Gotta agree that the sabre squirrel is a fantastic character,so bloody funny.
Been good talking Ben. I gotta get off mate as time to get my clippers out and cut all my hair off again.
Have a good day mate and catch u later.

Jaywalking is a pretty easy crime, Cornish. Not sure if that's a crime here though. Could be tricky to monetise it too. Parking in the wrong place is probably the closest I can think of. Similar issues with converting it to a money-spinning enterprise though I'd imagine. Not much help perhaps but I tried for you <3

Ice Age is legit great, the first one anyway, not seen the others either. Went to the cinema to see that one. We watched the beginning of Up in one of my philosophy lectures and I was literally holding back tears by the end, Jesus. Monsters Inc is another fucking great kids film, might get that watched today actually.

Morning all, anyway, and happy valentines day <3:p

Up early to get shopping done, got a wink and a smile from a cute pharmacist, then lost me bus ticket. It is actually sunny and (relatively) warm out so had a nice saunter back listening to music. Time to mong now, quiet day as all my housemates are either off doing stuff for valentines, or off getting drunk because they're single.

edit: got a hug and a kiss off my housemate when he came to get his missus' presents off me. Happy now ^_^

^ The first 10 - 15 minutes of Up is some of the best story telling ever put to film, I watched it first with my Wife and there was no holding back the tears we we're both in bits, and it has the same effect each and every time it's on, without fail, even if I leave the room and can still hear it because I know what's going on I'm gone. It's absolutely beautiful.
