Benzos and slurred speech

I was wondering if there are benzos that don't have this side-effect as bad as others. (I'm aware than any benzo at a high enough amount can make you slur your words.)

Would clonazepam (2mg) be more likely to make me slur my words or would that be bromazepam? (12mg)

May seem like a silly question but I've been wondering about it because I love benzos but hate slurred speech.

Mmh...in my experience if you take the equivalent dose of any benzo you'll get the same amount of slurred speech. Haven't noticed any discernable differences anyway.

Well that sucks, it's the nastiest side-effect of benzos (when on them atleast, not talkin' bout W/Ds and dependency.)

I would have guessed that the more muscle relaxing benzos would be more likely to cause this effect? e.g. tetrazepam, diazepam, clonazepam(?)

Really? I kinda like it somehow, it's a dead give-away but still haha

Yeah you might actually be right on that point, I know tetrazepam made me slur like crazy but I mean so did alprazolam - if there's a difference it's pretty small.

I would have to say Amnesia is the worst side-effect IME/IMO. Although if the Benzo in question is being used for a medical procedure (Like an Endoscopy) then Amnesia is exactly what is desired.

The Benzos with the least noticeable effects (In my experience once again, as we all differ) are Clonazepam & Lorazepam.

Yes there are benzos with less side effect and less if any at all slurred speech effects. A partial agonism like desmethyldiazepam (clorazepate, nordiazpem) is what you are a looking for.

Also, oxazepam is a really good choice to. It has the slowest absorption rate and slowest on set off effects than any other benzos while still having ~95% oral BA. The slow on set of effects makes oxazepam seem less "in your face", less sedation , and the gradual onset of.effects will make.side effects like slurred speech, amnesia, ataxia, and solomance much less pronounced and much less likely to happen compared to.klonopim or bromazepam

Another good suggestion, is to replace benzos with Pregabalin(lyrica) has it has the same anxiolysis ability as benzos, and Pregabalin seems.to feel much like a benzo. The good part lyrica doesn't produce nearly as much CNS sedation meaning lyrica isn't sedating like benzos and.won't.cause slurred speech in therapeutic amounts and other benzo side effects like klonopin.does I.e. ataxia, solomance, hypnosis, ect...

Another suggestion is to lower the amount of benzo you are.taking and are over estimating.your tolerance. Try taking a lower dose of the benzo you are taking (klonopin, bromazepam, ectt..) and see if your speech becomes slurred.

Usually when my speech is slurred, I am extremely sedated, and I know its not sage to.mix drugs, but you could try adding some caffeine , amphetamine, ect... To decrease the sensation.of sedation or slurred speech. Out of all the options.I've given, this.one.is.the worst.

Try and experiement with combating slurred speech by simultaneously using multiple of my suggestions, or.just try one suggestion at a time.for.optimal effects

I don't mind it myself, but as you said it's a dead giveaway. And that's something I hate.

I get very little (to none) amnesia from benzos for some reason. Even in pretty high doses. So that's not an issue for me.

I will try lowering my dose. I hope I still get the desired anxiolytic effects from that though.
I just got switched to these benzos and bromazepam is the most effective for me, followed by klonopin (would be xanax if it wasn't for the short duration) so I'd rather not ask for a switch to chlorazepate or nordazepam so soon since I'm happy with my scripts

Thanks everyone! :)
