Life Of Pi? Life Of Pish! I've never been more choking to see a tiger eat a wee boy in my entire life.
You heartless bastard!

What about the philosophicals ... all the different types of religions ... the different reactions from the main characters to events at home and on the boat? The comparison of father and son attitudes to life and situations?

Did it inspire any philosophical musings whatsoever? besides carniverous hatred?

It made me think "FUCKING GET HIM! Go on tiger! Be a tiger! Do what you were born to do! Reach your full potential & eat the face right off that little cunt!!!!".
I had mostly forgot about the religious shit by then. I was all about the tiger getting his dinner. I quite liked that stuff at the start tbh, but the tiger not eating the boy ruined it all. (I know the tiger was the boy but still, fuck that noise - tiger eat boy!

My friend, she told me to watch this film as well, also told me I have no soul when I posted the same comment on Facebook haha.

Edit - I did like that the tiger was called Richard Parker though, that made me smile.

LOLWUT? Course PTCH should really have put it in spoiler tags, like this:

WTF? Doh!

Like that! =D

I conclude that I'm in no way able to decipher meanings, metaphors, or anything else for that matter, in films.

We're all tigers, and since we have to live with one another, eating each other is off the cards. ie: understand your tiger, and your savage nature, and learn to live with it so you may live with others peacefully

erm, that conclusion didn't take any deciphering since he basically explained that with his 'alternative' story about who was who in the boat, at the end of the film while talking to the journalist

NSFW:

The journalist and insurance company 'chose' the story they liked the best (the tiger one) ... ie: not the truth, but instead a prettier, lovelier metaphorical story (ie: 'religion' ) rather than acknowledge the true brutal nature of humans in the real story, which was with the cook, his mother, himself and the monk... etc etc

SCARFACE (1932)

my alltime favourite film forever beats the al pacino remake hands down no overblown cliched early 80's crap here real hard as nails hoodlums surprising the amount of allmost identical scenes in both films this and public enemy with james cagney are the two best all time classics.
The main character is tony camonte aka scarface based on al capone

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/mobile/m/1018323-scarface/

Absolute classic

Fuck me, Tarantino does blood mist like no other. Really glad I went to see it on a proper screen. The biggest screen at the cinema, yet only 6 people in it. Lovely stuff

I liked it, but I think I agree with Spike, but not 100%. Not about the useage of n****r word, but all the other stuff, and the inappropriate use of certain situations for entertainment. Some of the scenes didn't sit right with me and weren't necessary imo. It's not like I'm entitled to an opinion on that score tho, but eh, I've got one anyway.

Eh, I understand the need and kinda like it too, but fucking 'ell Quentin, cameo yourself with a non speaking part next time eh?

But yeah, back to blood mist ... super awesome stuff right there - 3.5/5, and worth seeing. Also, this sorta flick needs to be seen on the screen it was made for to fully do it justice, rather than just on your telly.

I honestly didn't think the niggertalk was overdone even slightly, Marmz. Bordering on underdone given the hype it's gotten for it. Very lightly used given the subject matter. I wouldn't have taken out a single instance and would probably have had many more if I'd edited that script. Seemed entirely in context and not even remotely exploitative. His other films are far worse for excessive niggertalk imo. Pulp Fiction being a prime example. Plus, Spike Lee is an utter bellend. What the fuck has it got to do with him? Is he the King of All Black People? Does his opinion count more than the black folk who support the film completely and it's portrayal of slavery? Give me a film like that over fukkin Roots anyday. Hits home way harder and is actually enjoyable to watch as well as instructive on just how brutal things were.

The blood spurts were indeed excellent though. And possibly the only real link to the original Django films (which are stone cold classics and required viewing for anyone who watched Tarantino's take on 'em).

I'd tend to agree that y'all got the best of it on the bigscreen, mind. Definitely lacking summat on a lil lappy screen but still well worth a watch.

Although I made comment on the excessive "nigger-talk" when I first saw Django, I have to totally agree with this. I think I may even have called him a bellend when this subject came up before. Remember he used to make good films?

Silver lining playbook.
Watched this with the Mrs t'other day. Thought it was going to be a steaming pile of sloppy excrement. Have to say, it is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Great story which will resonate with a few on here I'm sure. Wonderful dialogue and great acting. Highly recommended.
