Why so much defense for MDMA

I think the issue you need to consider is not the fact that MDMA has damaging neurological effects over time, certainly in high doses. Any psychoactive drug does. All you have to do is click on your television and watch the absurd commercials for prescription drugs listing 80+ side-effects and then adding the obligatory "see doctor for full list of possible adverse reactions". It's literally comical.

The reason so many of us defend MDMA is not only because we love the drug and it changed so many of our lives... it's because the drugs that are currently prescribed to "treat" depression are so clearly inferior. The only reason those drugs exist is because you HAVE to take them daily, for a very, VERY long time. In essence, they sell better. It's much more difficult to get someone to pay $500 for an MDMA assisted therapy session every 6 to 8 weeks than it is to have them pop in to the pharmacy and pay $150 a month of a bottle of Welbutrin.

<-- This is the MOST common argument that I hear among conscientious objectors. Where I take issue is the fact that almost all of the SSRI on the market right now literally, over time, DESTROY a very specific part of the brain.. at least in most subjects. The term SSRi, for anyone who hasn't taken the time to Wikipedia this, means "Serotonin Selective Reuptake Inhibitor". In plain english, when neurotransmitters "communicate", they essentially blast out a bunch of receivable messages for other receptors to receive and pass along. This all happens within nano-seconds, but whatever is left in what's called the Post-Synaptic Cleft, is then broken down in to it's component parts and then "sucked" back in to the original neurotransmitter for later use. Simply stated, the unreceived messages are what give the transmitter "fuel" for later functioning. The easiest way to stop this from happening and allow there to be more serotonin available in the brain in the short term? Inhibit, or in the case of most market worthy anti-depressants, DESTROY, the reuptake mechanism!

Genius, huh?

Don't get me wrong, MDMA does some of this too, but not NEARLY to the extent that your average SSRI anti-depressant does, and the kicker with MDMA is, if it were to be used for medical purposes, it would only need to be taken on a very, very rare basis and done so with conjunctive therapy in an attempt to help the subject actually CURE their depression, as opposed to doping themselves up every day.

But, as Van Wilder said, "Sex sells, Gwen.. sex sells.."

Ok that last part made no sense but I wanted to say it.

I could go on and on and on and just bitch about how retarded it is that MDMA is not widely used for medical purposes, but if you personally, or anyone else for that matter, want to talk more and/or see some amazing research that I have done/found, feel free to message me.

Thanks all.

You have no idea what you are talking about. And you believe someone 'medicating' them self with MDMA every 6-8 weeks with a therapist or such would cure their depression? I mean they may gain some realizations while rolling but nothing would be fixed for the long term. They would just be digging them self deeper and deeper into depression / anxiety by throwing their neurochemistry WAY off.

I agree with OP, there are plenty of morons who are pro MDMA who say it is the safest drug and anything bad you have experienced is because of cuts. You would be able to tell if your pills have cuts if you are tripping, or panicing , or heart racing much faster than it normally would with MDMA. Yea MDMA itself will give you a clean high while your on it, but it's deceiving it is doing nothing but dirty things in your brain / body.

I will never forget the first time i woke up after my first 3 doses of MDMA, I felt completely changed and damaged that morning. I looked in the mirror, and saw cracked out pupils, frizzy hair, pale skin, just a meth head looking back in the mirror. I had no idea i would feel that different when i woke up, i really under estimated what the comedown was going to bring.

I definitely think MDMA is one of the most brain damaging drugs out there. I know there are plenty of research chemicals that royally fuck you up as well but i am talking about more of the main stream drugs (meth, coke , heroin etc.) You would be better off doing large amounts of meth 4-5 times a year than doing large amounts of MDMA 4-5 times a year and i am positive on that. And Meth is supposed to be an extremely toxic drug.

Yes, I have no idea what I'm talking about. You're right. The whole point of that post was to explain something as simply as possibly so anywho who read it would have some idea of the basics of how the drug operates. I'm not going to get in to the pharmacokinetics of the drug and all of the different BS everyone gets in to on these internet threads in order to make themselves sound smart. I have spent the last 4 years of my life looking through a microscope for hours and hours every day, listening to people who have the letters "Dr." before their first names explain what's going on, and help me to develop my own understanding of the processes. All of the theories and opinions on drugs like MDMA are constantly changing, and due to the lack of sufficient data and evidence, even less is know about MDMA than most drugs.

I'm not saying that MDMA would single=handedly cure depression if coupled with psychoanalysis, but it certainly seems as viable if not more so than the concept of taking an anti-depressant daily for years and years and constantly having to alter other parts of your brain to counteract the side-effects of the drug that's supposed to be helping you.

In an ideal world there would be no drugs and we would all be happy, but since - for some reason - "God" made us alchemists, I believe it's our duty to keep trying until we figure out what works the best. It's my belief that to simply make a drug illegal before we have even the SLIGHTEST idea what the positive and negative effects are, simply because the drug was initially used the "wrong way" by a bunch of druggies is absolutely pathetic.

I have taken pure MDMA (and yes, i am able to tell whether or not it is infact MDMA) countless times over the last 8 years and have had zero negative long-term effects from it. In fact I was IN a deep state of depression, sleeping 16+ hours a day and doing absolutely nothing with my life. I don't know exactly what the problem was, but I know that I took MDMA one night and while, yes, I felt the "cracked out" symptoms you speak of the next morning, they were gone as quickly as they arrived, and I was able to reflect on the experience and gain from being able to feel emotion again. Whether it was chemically enduced or not, sometimes all someone needs is to be woken up and given at least the opportunity to see the world around them in a brighter light. <-- DISCLAIMER: (I AM NOT saying that MDMA is the only drug that could/would have done this for me, but it seems MDMA did the trick for me. I'm sure there are plenty of other chemical combinations that have yet to be discovered that may work better and have even fewer side-effects. So for all the closet-geniuses that frequent these threads, don't waste your time hyper-analyzing my testimonial. It is simply that - a testimonial. Take what you will from it, and if you don't like it, no one cares.)

Again, I do not believe there is any cure for something as ambiguous and subjective as depression, all I am arguing is that there are plenty of people who have had good experiences with the drug that I feel it deserves a fair chance in test studies simply to learn more about it. If it's the wrost drug in the world, then that's fine... but there are millions of people who would legitimately like to know.

And that comment about doing Meth 4 to 5 times per year vs. MDMA is absolutely hilarious. First of all MDMA IS a type of meth. There are numerous different variations of methamphetamines and amphetamines and they all have anywhere from slightly to drastically different effects on users depending on countless different environmental variables.

If you're going to tell someone they don't know what they're talking about, come up with something better than whatever the fuck it was I just read. I feel significantly dumber having read that graffiti.

Good God, man.

To each their own, you go ahead and roll for the rest of your life if you think it is improving it. I have read too many threads started by people here saying they only rolled a few times in their life time yet they still feel damaged months later. And these are from people who have tested MDMA (some may not but i am not talking about them). And it is not in their head either, people know how they feel and when they feel so drastically different , that they have to search online for forums make an account and ask questions you know something is up. I don't know of many other drugs where you can space it out, take vitamins and supplements, yet still end up with negative long term effects. I just think some people are more aware of their emotions and thoughts than others. Have fun

I tend to agree with most of that. I happen to enjoy the drug personally, and have has good luck with it. That being said, I am not necessarily a proponent of it, merely a proponent of testing it the proper way and learning more. Maybe there are simple variations that could be synthesized that maximize the positive and minimize the negative effects. In my opinion the only way to definitively know is to test it scientifically, not compile a bunch of personal testimonials. It's anyone's choice to roll balls. May be good for them; may fuck up their brain forever. That's a risk people should understand. Otherwise they have no business expiramenting with psychotropic drugs to begin with.

Farewell sir, good talk.

oh god, not another troll!

methamphetamine is NOTHING like MDMA. It is a very nice drug to mix with it in threshold doses of a few mg's, but your comparing oranges to bananas there bro.

it's anxiety man. it's a real feeling. it's a feeling that can be fixed by a good diet, healthy lifestyle, and long acting benzodiazepines, IME particularly valium. Trust me though, the feeling your mind gets when it's always racing/worrying sucks if your not used to it, and it feels terrible if brought on after use of MDMA. Your mind starts racing thinking "OH MAN, I FUCKED UP my BRAIN! AHHHH!". Trust me, not being able to relax when you used to be able to is enough to fuck with your consciousness if you don't learn to chill out. I personally get relief from a valium about once every 10 days or so when I get extremely tense/shaky. You can't let the anxiety consume you. Once you go through it a few times, you don't worry so much, such is expected if you get out of hand, the recovery is expected also. Me it's just a ritual, lift weights, eat healthy shit, no trans fat or artificial BS, limited dyes etc.

MethylenedioxyMETHAMPHETAMINE. I'M SAYING IT IS IN THE METHAMOHETAMIE CLASS IH MY GOD. I am no longer posting on this fucking site. Everyone on here sucks balls. Jesus. READ the whole post before you respond. Your parents fucked and are the stain that followed.

This is honestly just ridiculous. Scare mongering at it's finest.. :\

So I'm a moron for being "pro-MDMA"? It's a drug. It doesn't do anything bad or good unless you let it. Using MDMA RESPONSIBLY is not scary, will not kill anyone and is NOT something that people should be discouraged from doing.

On the other hand, MDMA ABUSE can lead to some very serious problems down the road... but that is with abuse, and is completely different from using the drug safely. We are lucky that even with abuse, MDMA is a very forgiving drug to most people and after months of abstinence many of the negative effects go away completely.

So, in short.. cut the fear-mongering out. Sure MDMA abuse can have some very bad outcomes, but it is MUCH more productive to simply inform people and let them make their own choices based on actual fact than making up whatever you can out of your head to make MDMA sound scary.

and meth is worse than MDMA with one time use? You got that backwards, buddy. Meth is actually more neurotoxic with ONE use, but with repeated use over time (NOT 4 times a year) you would likely be better off taking methamphetamine orally than doing MDMA every week. This is because dopamine recovers faster than serotonin.

^ The two drugs are VERY similar, you can't deny that. They both work almost the same exact way on the brain, they simply work on different parts of it.

Well then... if you reply with that kind of language to such a simple post, maybe it's a good riddance? I encourage you to stay, however.

and there is no "methamphetamine" class, there is an amphetamine class that are types of amines... MDMA, "adderall" and methamphetamine all belong in that class but that does not necessarily mean the effects are closely related.

There are several amphetamine type drugs that are not potent releasers like MDMA or meth

lol that wasnt very nice mr! imho you need to work on your trolling skills, maybe try fb for a while?

totally disagree

And you are correct I need to work on my amphetamine knowledge apparently. I really like MDMA so I only study that for the most part. More of an opiate guy.

Lol ya. My trolling is more reactionary but I get it and will avoid that. No more from me on this thread I've said enough.
