Alright...Strange title...But that's the topics (Not in a perverted way though)...

So,
In the past I had already thought about marijuana, and genetics, and the future. But I will get to that in a second...

Today I thought about something.
They say that smoking weed lowers your sperm count...It can't just be RANDOMLY be selecting sperm to kill, there must just be some sperm inside of us that is BETTER at handling weed. And when you smoke weed, you "weed out" the intolerant, potential babies...

Think of it this way:
When you introduce "Raid" bug spray, into a Roach community, most of them die.
But some of the bugs may survive. And they will be able to reproduce...Because they are still ALIVE.
So the next generation of roaches, is now LESS effected by "Raid" bug spray. And maybe even ALL of them will eventually survive.

But that is happening in your nutsack. The THC is the "Raid", and the sperm are the roaches.

This was my thought from the past, about MJ, and genetics(Not sperm, or nutsack related):
If BOTH of your parents smoked weed, then you have been "Pre-exposed" to THC, through your genetics, and your fathers sperm.
But if only 2 out of your 4 grandparents smoked. Then your parents (Even though they passed down a heavy tolerance to you) may have MUCH lower tolerances than you.

So everyone is probably effected by weed a LITTLE bit differently than each other, based on our "Family History" in relation to marijuana's "Family history".

And there may be people that have a "Stronger" connection, or "Better" receptors than others.

And what if one day there is an amazing mutation...The person can store excess THC instead of pissing it out...Or doesn't get high...Or is always high without weed...Or SOMETHING....

It looked like a mod asked me for proof :D Their asking for proof comment is gone, but I decided it's still a good idea.

This makes it sound like the sperm are maybe even stoned and swim weird, so I may have been right after all, just not about it killing sperm. But still only the sperm that are best at swimming stoned would make it :D
Men who smoke marijuana frequently have significantly less seminal fluid, a lower total sperm count and their sperm behave abnormally, all of which may affect fertility adversely, a new study in reproductive physiology at the University at Buffalo has shown.
This study is the first to assess marijuana's effects on specific swimming behavior of sperm from marijuana smokers and to compare the results with sperm from men with confirmed fertility. Marijuana contains the cannabinoid drug THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is its primary psychoactive chemical

And this study seems to agree with me
Scientists at Buffalo University found regular smokers had significantly less seminal fluid, and a lower sperm count.

Their sperm were also more likely to swim too fast too early, leading to burn-out before they reach the egg.

Lead researcher Dr Lani Burkman said: "The bottom line is, the active ingredients in marijuana are doing something to sperm."

This one says I was right about it killing sperm directly, and it says it is "temporary" because they have receptors for marijuana. Seems I was also right about genetic mutation
Substance Abuse. Cocaine or heavy marijuana use appears to temporarily reduce the number and quality of sperm by as much as 50%. Sperm actually have receptors for certain compounds in marijuana that resemble natural substances and which may impair the sperm's ability to swim and may also inhibit their ability to penetrate the egg. (Alcohol itself does not appear to affect fertility unless it is so abused that it causes liver changes.)

Smoking. Smoking impairs sperm motility, reduces sperm lifespan, and may cause genetic changes that affect the offspring. Additionally, a 1999 study found that men who smoke have lower sex drives and less frequent sex.

do you have a source for this "low sperm count" claim?
might it be an urban myth?
there are plenty of chemicals in our environment that can cause genetic mutations and so on.
i'm not convinced cannabis is that dangerous to mankind - humans have used cannabis for a range of uses for thousands of years. i think genetic abnormalities are far more likely to result from other sources...

I have no idea if it is an Urban legend. That's just what they taught us in school and stuff... :?

Unfortunately, a majority of CD is leaning that way again. I think I might finally be outgrowing this forum...

There are definitely some decent posters who make some interesting and well thought out posts that I enjoy reading, but how shall I say this... the signal to noise ratio is not as good as it could be.

I wasn't being an asshole, but I sure could start. I'm going to hold off for now, though.

You were thinking, though, I'll give you half credit for that. You miss out on 100% because you assume that a lowered sperm count means sperm is being killed off. You're overlooking the much more logical conclusion that habitual marijuana use/abuse leads to a less efficient sperm production system, thereby lowering overall sperm count without "Raiding" a single cell.

How do I know sperm isn't being killed off? I don't. I'm building upon the knowledge that cannabis toxicity seems to be near-nonexistent.

I'm fucking sorry. Why can't we just discuss it instead of you guys acting like I brought up a horrible topic.

I agree that it IS possible that they meant you would produce less sperm and that makes sense. It's just whenever we were always told MJ smoking lowers sperm count, I imagined it being more instant. But it does make tons of sense that it would happen over time.

Did you not notice how you posted, others replied and then those two steps started repeating? That's a discussion, and we're doing it right this second about your very topic. I've been trying to discuss it with you while holding a tangential chat with somebody else, so don't play the victim card and act like we're bad guys out to get you.

It is a stupid topic, though. You had a train of thought (probably while stoned, but that's irrelevant), developed what probably sounds like an amazing theory to an adolescent pothead (I mean, using weed as an evolutionary influence through sperm cell Darwinism... straight out of a comic book, man), decided not to question it on your own and immediately brought it to a public forum.

That's the thing with these public forums. Yeah, I might think this is a stupid topic but you'll likely find like-minded people here eventually, and, this being the internet, stupid things are always up for discussion and/or ridicule.

This is not a stupid topic. You guys are just handling it like idiots, making it a stupid thread.

I just can't tell if you're really interested in making X-Men by smoking weed and killing sperm cells (seriously, when viewed in that light how can you not think it's retarded?).

Because it still makes sense. Even without the sperm aspect, this is 100% possible. If you smoked enough weed and your body constantly has THC in it's bloodstream, then for 20 generations your family does the same thing. Eventually you MAY adapt to have strange pockets that store THC. Like animals in the ocean that EAT sea urchins, then process the poison to use in their own quills.

Or maybe it would start leaking out of the "mutated person"s pores, and it could be collected and extracted into hash. Or something like that.

Adaptation happens, you guys are just limiting your minds and being douches.

Lol..I should not even reply, but let's try.
If there was a human population living in a somewhat isolated place and if that population was smoking ganja all the time... then maybe some traits related to THC metabolism might be selected. Which one is impossible to predict. But THC pouches or pores are just for ridiculous supermutant heros :|

I thought I read somewhere that chronic cannabis use decreases testosterone in the body. That would in turn lower sperm production. But I can`t remember if it`s a myth or not.

OP: As one of the many members of this forum who does *real* science, like in a lab with experiments (as opposed to stoned, half baked thought experiments) I give you credit for thinking. BUT, you don't seem to have a very good grasp of either deductive or inductive logic, formal and informal fallacies, the scientific method, or the established body of knowledge in the fields you talk about. I suggest you start with reading some wiki articles/university websites on logic and fallacies, then go to the scientific method, then get a basic grasp of biology, chemistry and physics, and then being reading about the specific topics you wish to discuss.

This isn't about doing science in lab. This is about Cannabis. So you can take your deductive reasoning and inductive logic and put it where the sun don't shine :D

Well if you watch the Movie Super High me the dude actually has his sperm count increased from 30 days of CHRONIC exposure. I forgot to add MAN to the end of my sentence and also put BRO in it sometimes I just say Broseph instead all like saying my brutha joseph but all just depends on the Cannabis I think could be placebo like you oh shit that rhymes wait maybe not I just do not know anymore.

Cause weed, you know, grows.

I forgot about that shit. Did it go up? That's strange... And what does that guy consider "Chronic exposure". I'm pretty sure I've smoked more weed than that guy.
