I believe Diphenhydramine is giving me heart problems.

Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum and am joining you guys with an urgent question. I actually have been meaning to join this forum in order to ask this. I feel that I am gradually becoming addicted to Diphenhydramine HCI. It appears to be a very rare addiction as most find the high unpleasant but i fucking love it. Everything about it. The heavyness i feel in my body, everything is funny as fuck. And i just really enjoying using it. I have quite a tolerance now and my current dose it 525mg every once in a while. I cant seem to go a week or 2 without picking up some Diphenhydramine containing pills. I am concerned because little is known about recreational use of this chemical. I am wondering if any severe long term effects can end up fucking me over in the future because of my somewhat heavy use of the drug? I am on probation and dont have access to other drugs for about 6 more months so I am laying low until then. ANY information regarding recreational use of diphenhydramine would be greatly appreciated. I am thoroughly concerned about my odd habit. I picked up a box of pills earlier and am going to have a 525mg "trip" tonight. I feel a bit depressed after discontinuation of diphenhydramine use for the first week im off of it. So far i do not feel any lasting effects except for EXTREME TIREDNESS. I can hardly go a day without taking a nap after school even when i havent taken the drug in a while. Do you guys think it might be related to the drug use? I just feel exhausted and when i do lay down to nap i feel a slight lucid touch to my nap similar to the feeling of being on diphenhydramine. Like as im laying down to sleep my thoughts are a bit like dreams. Just really odd thoughts go through my head, again, similar to the feeling of being on the drug. Once again any information would be so greatly appreciated, especially from anyone who has experience with Diphenhydramine HCI. Also does it sound like I am addicted to it? It sounds weird to me and I almost cant believe it to be true since no one else seems to have this issue. Keep in mind I only use this drug for its recreational effects, not to sleep. Is there any evidence linked to diphenhydramine use and brain damage/organ damage? This is my number one concern and I cant seem to find much information on it on the web. I am also still young and my brain and body has not completely developed at age 18. Thank you for reading this long post. Happy to be joining the forums and hope you guys can give me some good answers take it easy, friends.

PS. This post was made several months ago so i have some updated information. I feel like my heart is beating slower and irregularly now. It is true that heartrate is definitely increased dramatically during the trip so can all this irregular pulse during the high damage the heart. PLEASE i want to stop using but i need REASONS. No one has been answering my questions after several posts so please help :X

I have now been taking the drug for about 5 months straight 400-500mgs every night and upping dose to compensate tolerance

I now feel like i have heart

dude you need to get your blood pressure checked out immediately. you need to go to a doctor and tell them everything before you have a heart attack or stroke. it sounds like you may have an arrhythmic heart already.

Thats is concerning. I wentto the supermarket and my blood pressure was like 151 when it should be 130

People with asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, or an overactive thyroid should use this drug with caution. Before taking diphenhydramine, people with these conditions should discuss the risks and benefits of this drug with their doctor.

Toxicology also manifests in the autonomic nervous system, causing urinary retention, pupil dilation, tachycardia, irregular urination, and dry skin and mucous membranes.[citation needed] Severe restlessness or akathesia can also be a side effect that is made worse by increased levels of diphenhydramine.[11] Considerable overdosage can lead to cardiac arrest, serious ventricular dysrhythmias, coma, and death.

leading to the side-effects of dry mouth and throat, increased heart rate, pupil dilation, urinary retention, constipation, and, at high doses, hallucinations or delirium. Further side-effects include motor impairment (ataxia), flushed skin, blurred vision at nearpoint owing to lack of accommodation (cycloplegia), abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, irregular breathing, dizziness, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, decreased body temperature (in general, in the hands and/or feet), erectile dysfunction, excitability, and, although it can be used to treat nausea, higher doses may cause vomiting.

The side effects your experiencing are classic and can be found on every site in regards to this drug.

Stop using it immediately and see a doctor.

Right I think you should cease use of the drug immediately. If you can't manage that you at least have to taper down. Perhaps drop your dose 200mg the first week if you feel you cannot take it without it. You can drop 50mg a day, maybe more. You also need to get to a doctor as soon as possible. Get an ECG done and make sure you're honest to your doctor about what you've been taking and for how long. It's good you've come forward with the problem properly now but it's time to get professional care and help, we can try with dosing but you may have an underlying heart condition that we don't know about. I can't stress it enough - get to a doctor as soon as you can.

Please remember all these machines you see out in public are not generally calibrated so they do not give you a very accurate reading
