You can't swear (with the F word!) at God.

That's probably the most radical post I've seen on BL for a year Raas. Welcome back. :)

Yeah that was a bit OTT for me.

In honesty I had been drinking a fair bit before posting that.... [back to the good old days, getting drunk and posting on BL... how did it come to this again]

Oh my thats triple sin: drinking, blasphemy and porno sites. What is happening to me.

It's time for me to get back to all that God stuff now. I will try and visit again, if my connection allows it (my ISP are being proper arses, if you pardon my French).

Oh, ha... looks like i've got away with this one. ;):p%) bye God, we've disrupted the picture thread enough now

No need to be over-concerned about the wanking, Raas. As long as you have a good wash afterwards it's all good apparently...

And if any man's seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even. --Leviticus 15:16

Just be careful you don't spunk on the floor or curtains or owt silly like that cos they'd be much more a pain in the arse to hose down.

Damn. I can't tell you how wrong it feels to be told appropriate bible verses by Shambles.

Sound advice nonetheless. Looks like i've got a lot of washing to do.

Ha! Few people can quote chapter and verse as easily as an atheist I can assure you, Raas. Know your enemy innit ;)

Of course you can interpret other Bible verses in such a way to suggest that wankers are damned for all eternity and/or should be stoned to death but heyho - glad it ain't my guide to life is all I can say :D

We'd probably best change the subject back to pix now though ;)

masterbating and looking in the bible for answers to see how wrong it is? You seem to be the expert. I've been strict Christian for 7 years and didn't know that one!

I've yet to meet a Christian who has much of a clue what they're actually subscribing to tbh. Ms Halo is pretty good at knowing her stuff though. For a believer anyway ;)

Guessing you're more familiar with the standard "Party Line" of...

Genesis 38:9-10
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.

... and...

Matthew 5:28-30
Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Not quite so forgiving there then. Such a load of old wank (pun intended). Pays yer money... Do you ever ask yourself why it's only ever the most conservative verses that get quoted? Funny that really. Although it's a pretty fuckin conservative book as a whole I suppose. Not half as conservative as its most vocal proponants though :\

I'd suggest you actually read the Bible if you're a Christian, Raas. As in all of it and without asking your preacher (of whatever flavour) to "interpret" it for you. Is quite the eye-opener. As I mentioned before: nothing - nothing - produces more atheists than the Bible itself ;)

No, I've read before that the bible says nothing on masterbation. Which is why i'm pretty shocked the verse you quoted actually existed, and why I joked about your "expertise in this area".

Read the entire bible, back to front (Obviously missed the one in Leviticus). But I will concede; it's a very big book. It took long enough to read, to study each verse is something my lifestyle doesn't permit. If I'm interested in anything, I'll google it. (or ask you).

Will admit I was pretty shocked when I started reading the O.T. The stories were ridiculous. But I did enquire and find answers as to why it's worded so coarsely, and I did eventually draw some meaning from the books in places.

Remember, it's the best selling book of all time. Whether you became atheist or theist, it's effected millions. Any fool can read the book and quote. To develop spiritually from it's words is something only some will manage.

Found "answers" eh? Don't you mean you found apologetics? Big difference. You really need to ask yourself some serious questions about some of the shite apogeticists feed ya.

Therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.--2 Kg.15:16

Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.--Ezekiel 8:18

The sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.--Jer.12:12

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.--Luke 19:27

Just a totally random selection. Prince of Peace. Religion of the meek 'n' mild. What a load of old cock. It's not just stuff "done in God's name" either. Plenty of it is either done directly or at direct command. Fukkin disgusting stuff. Finding meaning in such an execrable work of vile hate says a lot about those who subscribe to it :\

(and before ms. halo says it, yes i know context... no context explains away or justifies most of this kinda shite. it's just pure bigotry, hate and barbarism)

There is no text more barbaric than the Old Testament of the Bible--books like Deuteronomy and Leviticus and Exodus. The Quran pales in comparison. -- Sam Harris

The baby born in a manger 2,000 years ago was not only a Savior, but a God of war. -- Chuck Norris

If Sam Harris is too wussy for ya then check Chuck. He knows the score %)

I intend to read all of the bible at some point. I've read a fair amount of it in the past, years ago though so can't really remember much, it's quite entertaining.

There's some toppers in it.

Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses. (1 Samuel 15:3)
Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:22)
If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21)

Can't beat a bit of bible study =D

Of course, a lot of that probably comes from the bad bible (Auld Wan). God didn't really mean that stuff, he was just fucking about (being a dick again).

To develop spiritually from it's words is something only some will manage.

Meanwhile, millions of murders have been committed by those who have failed to 'develop spiritually' from what to my eyes looks like the kind of prescribed morality that precludes free thought and stifles the mindfulfulness necessary to ensure anything like proper 'spiritual development'.

But hey - maybe that's just collateral damage, huh?

The guy on the far left with the earring & The "Hair" He looks like the older brother of the belt buckle boy in the middle . Oh n tell him to unbutton the shirt .

Gee thanks Shambles :)

I wanted to show you this verse

"'Go to this people and say, "You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving." Acts 28:26

http://bible.cc/acts/28-26.htm

Basically what its saying is that without the Holy Spirit interpretting the bible for you, and opening up layers of meaning you will never understand it and it will look like foolishness. Faith in the Holy Spirit is like a programme for understanding.

It takes a step of faith and wanting to know God to understand. Try praying before you read.

Jesus (sorry), what a cop out that is. By "cop out" I mean "load of shite made up now that people can see some parts of the bible are pure evil". Even you can't deny that a fair amount of the bible is really bad. "Thou Shalt Not Kill... unless god tells you to kill errrrrybody".

Tell me how this could be made out to be anything but evil with the help of the holy ghost.
When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21)

It's OK to beat fuck out your slave as long as they survive for a day afterwards. That can't be interpreted any other way.

Ain't that the truth =D

And the "that's just the OT" line is pure bollox. Jesus is but God in another guise after all. He's supposedly the dick who did all that dickish stuff before coming over a bit hippy... and that's highly debatable too. There's definitely an argument to be made that the NT is actually even worse than the OT. Despite what many Xtians think the NT in no way takes back anything from the OT. Just adds to it. And brings up even more contradictions and insanity.

Also, the "bestselling book of all time" stuff is just plain bullshit. It isn't. A bazillion copies bought by the church to push onto unfortunates does not a bestseller make. Have you ever met anyone who actually bought a copy? Thought not.

In pix news, you look remarkably like my old mate Dave the Diver, Strutter.

EDIT: Jess - see PTCH for my reply to the "Holy Spirit" malarky. Pure bullshit. Plenty of ex-Christians tend to agree so is not just us lifelong infidels that know it to be the case either. Prayer does nothing. The book is a book written by humans without any hint of divine inspiration and it shows in a big way.

You're talking verses in a book that is 2000 years old. The world isnt the same place.

I'm a Catholic but it just don't apply much anymore, especially the Old Testament.

The basis of the commandments is what's important, you know, being a good person? Anything further meaning is disguised by the men who wrote it, 2000 years ago, for people living 2000 years ago
